Good, if you like night life.
Good, overall. Small rooms, small bathrooms.Clean hotel, after renovation . Food is very good at the hotel restaurant , but pricey. Stay away from ocean view rooms( very noisy at night).

Nice staff but hotel is not that great
The staff at the hotel were very nice, however, I have stayed at other SoBe hotels and the Beacon was the worst as far as the room and environment. The room looked old, the bed frame and dresser looked like something my grandparents would have. Now I know most SoBe hotels have small rooms that have not been updated; old bathrooms, but the room at the Beacon was depressing. No vibrancy to the room at all. Dull beige walls, a view of rooftop to another building. The worst of all was the constant noise from doors being slammed. You could hear everytime someone came in or left their room, the worst was the noise from the exit doors at the end of each hallway. I looked out the room to see what the hell was going on, and noticed you can hear doors being slammed on floors your not even on. I read reviews on the Beacon before booking my room, and most of the reviews were really good....not sure who's writing those reviews. My sister and I were looking for fun, we had to venture to other hotels and enjoy their vibrant lobby. The bar at the Beacon was always empty. Even on the days that we were rained in, the bar was still empty. There was a flood warning so we couldn't really go out and we couldn't relax in the room due to the constant sound of slamming doors, so we took a cab ride to Dolphin mall. I was so ready to go that my flight didn't leave until 12:15pm, my sister's flight was leaving at 7:45am. I was so ready to go that I got up at 5am and left with her to go to the airport. I would never stay there again. I'd rather stay at hotel Shelly again or the Catalina. I complained to the guy at the front desk about the noise but he just smiled. No use in arguing with him, there was nothing he could do besides have better doors installed.

Great hotel, great staff
Our reservation was only for one night so we checked the car at the valet at about 3:30. The room wasn't ready yet so the receptionist at the desk asked for 30 more minutes (which was fine with us because we were planning on going out to eat right away anyways) and gave us a coupon for 2 free mojitos at the hotel bar. He also directed us to a great restaurant on Collins and when we returned our room was ready with our bags already in it. The room was a little small but the shower was great and the beds/pillows were really comfortable. The room was very clean, the lobby was beautiful and every staff member I encountered was very friendly. The location was perfect: across the street from the beach and in the heart of the south beach strip. The price was reasonable for the location and the quality of the hotel and staff, I'd definitely stay here again.

Nightlife tip:
Long walk from hotel
We went to the Delano Hotel for drinks. The Dj was great, he played a mix of old and new music, the Rose Bar is beautiful and the garden ad pool area outside are breathtaking! I recommend this place to everyone. It's less in your face than the clubs on Ocean Dr. and more of a lounge than a club.

One night stay
I stayed one night after a cruise, before flying home. I loved the veiw from my room and how close I was to the beach and great shopping too. The staff were friendly and the hotel though old, was clean. My only complaint were the windows were old and thin, and didn't block street sounds, luckly I brought my earplugs and slept well.

Great location, friendly staff, and more
First off, the location is incredible, right in the middle of Ocean Drive. When my girlfriend and I arrived, the staff was friendly and helpful. We were a bit early so they stored our luggage and recommended a good lunch spot. Room was clean, good size, and comfortable. At one point during our stay, we planned to go to the zoo and were just going to take a cab, but the staff recommended we rent a car, which was much much cheaper. They went out of their way to help, calling the rental place for us, arranging the rental and having them pick us up. Can't say enough about the staff, very accommodating and professional. Would definitely stay there again.

Feel free to venture off the main drag. There are some fantastic restaurants on Collins and Washington, so don't stay trapped on Ocean the whole time!

Happily Surprised
My flight landed in Miami at 6:15 am from S. America. I was eager to check in after a red-eye flight. Obviously, I didn't expect to get my room immediately upon arrival, however, I was a little disappointed that it took until 2 pm (which I was informed was in their SLA). So maybe that's not a fair complaint, just a matter of circumstance. Additionally, they tried putting me in a room with 2 queens when I had reserved 1 king. Again, they were eager to fix the mistake, but wanted to note it here. On a positive side, the staff was very friendly - top notch. The room was very nice once I did check in. The noon check-out was a pleasant surprise and you can't beat the location of the hotel on Ocean Drive. The complimentary breakfast is nothing to write home about, however when you do order food from their restaurant, it's quite good. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and the only reason I didn't rank it perfect because of the couple things I mentioned above. However, mistakes happen and they quickly did what they could to remedy them earning them 4 stars.

Great Location
I booked this hotel at the very last minute after already arriving in Miami and discovering I didn't have a place to stay for boat show weekend. I arrived prior to check in time to the hotel and the front desk staff was very accommodating, allowing me to check in early (noonish) which was great. The room was very clean and comfortable. However, I didn't realize that I couldn't see out of my room window with the shade down but people could see in from across the outdoor corridor. Didn't realize this until I went out of my room to get ice and once across from my room could see every detail inside the room when the lights were on! Also, the fitness center was more like a closet, not really worth the trip to the lobby. And the free breakfast in the morning was served promptly but then I could never get a refill on my coffee or any attention after the food was served. I eventually left without a coffee refill after waiting 20 minutes.

Not a 4* Hotel
The hotel has a good location. It is located directly across from South Beach. It has many food options available when you come outside. However, this is not a 4 star hotel. The hotel itself is more like a 3 star at best, and I have a feeling that this is just the general South Beach rating system, and not just Beacon.
