Everything was great except for the customer service check-in desk clerk was rude. Besides that it was all good. I would stay again

Location, Location, Location

You get what you pay for, and at this hotel you are paying to be one block from Ocean Drive! The room was quite basic (possibly even a bit dinghy) but that's what we expected. Our room faced Collins Ave, so it was loud pretty much the whole time (there is currently construction across the street). Breakfast is your typical continental--bagels, muffins, fruit, oatmeal, and yogurt. Overall we're glad we stayed here because the accommodations were fine but the location is perfect.

No Frills hotel

Room was stuffy, small and basic. Staff members were friendly and pleasant. Location was in the heart of South Beach so makes up for lack of room appeal. Unlimited beach towels and complimentary glass of wine also makes up for the no frills hotel.

Bait and switch

I booked the villas and when I checked in I was given a room in the south beach hotel which is the same property but another building which is listed as a 2 star hotel. Was told by staff villa rooms were not available by staff. Each day staff said to check back for availabilty but there were no rooms. Breakfast was plain bagels out of store bags with bananas, yogart or oatmeat, same every morning. For the price you can find a much nicer hotel would not stay there again. Rooms were outdated and security lacked. Entry to hotel by hookers and drug dealers was evident.

Stayed one night after Bahamas cruise

We stayed one extra night in Miami Beach after our weekend Bahamas cruise to relax on the beach. The hotel is in a great location just two blocks from the beach. It is also walking distance to Espanola Way, and about a 10-15 minute leisurely walk to Lincoln Road Mall. It is located at the north end of Ocean Drive where all the restaurants are. Basically it's in the middle of everything. The room was clean when we checked in but did not have a lot of furniture. There was one night stand on one side of our king bed, a dresser with a LED TV on it and a chair. That was it. There wasn't even a small desk to put your things down on like your purse/wallet, cell phone, water bottle... Everything we needed to put down was crowded under the LED TV or on the one chair in the room. The bathroom sink was difficult to use because there was a shelf installed about 2 feet above it. You couldn't lean your head into the sink to wash your face without bumping your head into the shelf. Poor design. The bed was very comfortable in my opinion. I like medium to firm beds and this one was perfect for me. The staff was very friendly and there was a doorman who helped carry our luggage to our rooms, even though the two of us each only had a carry-on size suitcase. There are beach towels you can check out at the front desk to take to the beach. They also include a continental breakfast, though that is not something that you should base your decision on. Check out is at 11am but I was able to request a late check out at noon. The only thing that ruined our stay was that the fire alarm kept going off for a few seonds at a time for about an hour. It appears they were doing some testing or maintenance, which is fine, but it would be nice if we were notified in advance. The walls are also very thin so if you plan to sleep in it will be difficult with people walking up and down stairs outside your room or above you. Even with the annoying alarms I would still recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a short stay. I'm the kind of person who treats hotels as a mainly a place to sleep and shower. I don't need it to be extremely fancy. It just needs to be clean, which it was. The bed was also very comfortable. The building is dated but then so are most of the other hotels in South Beach. Don't expect too much and you will enjoy your stay. I would stay here again if I come back to Miami Beach.

Taxi to South Beach area from the airport was about $24 flat fee if I remember correctly. If you're ok with using public transportation, the Airport Flyer (bus route #150) is only $2.35 as of this review and takes you between South Beach and the airport in about 30 minutes. It is an excellent alternative to the taxi if you travel light enough. There are racks in the bus for luggage. The bus stops about a block south of the hotel or about 10-15 minute walk north on Lincoln. Google miami airport to south beach bus and you will find more information. Bus takes exact change only.

Just in the middle of Miami Beach

If you plan to visit Miami for clubs and parties this is the place to be - walking distance to all the best ones and if you're first timer - there is a program to take you there!

Good sized room, excellent location

Thanks to the quick thinking of the front desk clerk, I got a spacious, eclectic room on the third from of the Hotel. Forget the continental breakfast - it's American coffee and a grocery store quality bagel (I live in NYC) or individually wrapped muffin. The bed and shower were good and the noise level, considering room 306 faces Collins Avenue, not at all bad! Quite a few hotels on this part of Collins have very small, if contemporary looking, rooms. I enjoyed the spaciousness.

Take the Airport Flyer from MIA Intl to South Beach. It costs $2.35. Get it at the Airport Metrobus station, a short Airport Mover ride from the terminal and makes numerous stops after crossing over the 41st St. Viaduct. It takes Collins to 17th then goes west one block to Washington and stops every 3 blocks or so all the way down to South Pointe.

A Very Disappointed Traveler

We booked this room with high hopes, given the great location and the reasonable price. Unfortunately, the only thing this room had to offer was space - it was larger than your average hotel room, including a full kitchen and dining area - and a great location - walking distance from Ocean Drive beaches and restaurants, Espanola Way's shops, Lincoln Road shopping, and surrounding nightlife. Size and location were really the only pluses. The experience was quite negative, on the whole. Car - There is only valet service - no self-park option. On the second day we were there, the valet took more than 45 minutes to bring the car around. They would claim the car would be ready in 5 minutes but it usually took them 15 minutes at leas, to bring the car around. This may seem nitpicky but when you are trying to plan your vacadtion day, having to build in half an hour for valet delays is absurd. Bugs - The kitchen was teeming with ants and other gnat-like bugs. They got into everything. Stove/ oven - Out of service Windows - The windows were so thin and poorly affixced to their frames that they might as well have been open, in terms of the sounds they let in. Further, the blinds were broekn with several wooden slat ends missing. The hotel tried to conceal the broken blinds by placing a mirrored shelf in front of them but it was not fooling anybody. Acoustics - The walls and windows seemed paper thin. There was screaming/ crying babies, angry drunken conversations in the streets and alleys below, and you could hear a pin drop in the hallway, regardless oof which of the three floors in the villas you were staying on. Every door opening and closing, every footstep on the stairs, every conversation. It was contnstant and at all hours of the day and night, making it virutally impossible to get any sleep or nap without ear plugs. This is not hyperbole. The bed - Large but incredibly uncomfortable. Like sleeping on a board, with flimsy pillows to boot. Air - the room was never comfortable, temperature wise. It was always either too cold or too hot. And the thermostat was confusing as all get out. Housekeeping - Bless their hearts, but none of them spoke English, which made simple requests for things like more soap, towels, toilet paper, etc incredibly frustrating. It seems to me a professional/ quality hotel management team should at the very least ensure that their houseleeping staff had the basic words and phrases down, given their responsibilities. Not at this hotel. I tell you, even if they lowered the prices dramaticallty, even if they gave us a free room, we wouldn't stay there again. A spacious room and a short walk to the attractions cannot possibly make up for the dreadful experience described above.
