Ocean Surf Hotel

Room facilities poor, uncomfortable. Need to improve service attitude. Several times to hang up the telephone for information. But, the location is not too bad, close to sea.

You get what you paid for it. The location is good , just steps from the beach.

If your looking for the basic, that's mean: hot water, confortable beds, a/c, no insects and t.v., perfecto. For the rest well ...

The furniture is too old. If you want just to take a sleep in the room - it's a fair deal for such price. But if you are on vacation, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I liked the breakfast.

Carpets are filthy throughout the hotel, needs replacement. Air conditioning units are in desperate need of replacement. The WIFI connection works intermittently, mostly not, and when it does it is absolutely the slowest. The elevator has been out of order since god knows when. It appears they have no plans to fix it. The pictures are very misleading. This motel is owned by the type of person who is too cheap to ever invest in it. They just don't bother with upkeep of anything. The front desk staff can be helpful and useful. Lastly, do not stay here if you do not have access to a car. It's five miles north of South Beach. It's on a nice quite street though.

Ok first the bad. One of the staff members at the desk was a bit rude and the alleyway next to the hotel smelled pretty bad due to a litter of almost grown half wild cats that reside there(not the hotels fault). The a/c unit in our room was REALLY loud and there was no fan in the bathroom(minor issues really). But the building was a neat old art deco that was pretty well kept and our room was clean and smelled fresh. The location was perfect for us as it is a bit isolated and quiet(the party hub of Miami Beach is a mile or 2 south). Not to mention it is well patrolled by police so we felt safe. Also we never had to walk more then 2 blocks to get to a drugstore for emergency provisions or really good ethnic restaurants. For the price especially,we would definitely consider staying here again.

the elevator doesn't work, not good for family vacations

very bad. i didnt even want to sit on the bed. the bath rooms were horrible. i thought i was going to bring bugs home if i stayed there. please no one go there they seriously need to shut it down. there were cats outside all over it was just bad.

The hotel was a good choice because it was very close to the Port of Miami, and we stay only one night before take the cruise. The location is perfect, in front of the beach, on the street where everything happens. Just be careful with the restaurant at the hotel, it is very expensive, take a look before you sit down to eat. We had dinner there and the bill was $ 180,00 for two people. Other than that no complains.

When i first checked in i had to wait a while until someone came to the front desk. when the person finally arrived we were checked in and given a room on the first floor. The room was still being cleaned and it smelled very old. It was really hot and the carpets looked dirty. i think its safe to say that the whole first floor is disgusting. The cleaning lady saw my look of disapproval and called the front desk for me to change my room. she was very sweet and told me that next door is a better hotel called the hawaii hotel. I believe ocean surf may have taken over that hotel as well. The front desk woman gave us different room options in ocean surf and hawaii hotel. we decided to stay in hawaii which is much better and we were happy with our choice. my friend stayed with her room on the 3rd floor on ocean surf it had a balcony and it is a big difference then the first floor. The beach was literally across the street and there are many places to eat. overall it was an ok experience.
