Amazing Last Minute Getaway

Here's the deal....I booked this hotel regardless of some of the negative reviews because let's be real people: (1) you have to try it for yourself, and (2) mainly because when you read some of the negative reviews closely, it's sometimes about petty stuff. Stayed here for 3 nights and I had a very good experience because of the following: - Every staff member we dealt with, treated us really well and answered all of our questions. -The room was a good size and clean for my standards. The bathroom was updated. The flat screen TV was greatttt (any channel you could possibly want - they have it). Wifi excellent too. -The noise level didn't bother us at all. Yes we could hear people in the hallways and out on the street, but let's be realistic, when you're on a main road like Collins Ave, what do you expect? It's a city too. I was able to sleep really well all 3 nights....actually at night, didn't hear anything crazy. - The free Happy Hour in the lobby area bar from 7-8pm, was super nice. The bar area is awesome. The bartender Ashley was super NICE and such a great sport. She made us feel comfortable, answered all of our questions, recommended some cool places, and really made us feel welcomed. Her manager was also nice and extremely patient with us, especially because we were celebrating my friends birthday. Marseilles Happy Hour made our night! Oh and the drinks were great. Only had to tip $1 per drink, but we tipped more because it was SUPERB. (Note: Ask Ashley about the Peach Drink..lol) Also kudos to JeanCarlo(s) for being helpful in greeting us and assisting our group when we needed help. Thanks Marseilles Team! -The location is excellent and you can walk everywhere. - The Marseilles garage where we parked our rental car was perfect because it was off of the main street around the block. By being off of the main street, it was fairly easy to go in and out of the parking area. Our car had no damages and parking was always available. - The pool was closed, but is NOW OPEN! Didn't really miss the pool with the beach right around the corner and courtesy chairs & umbrella card that the Marseilles provides you with upon check-in. :) - The staff explained all charges at all times and everyone was really nice. - Keep in mind that you get what you pay for and you should keep an open mind. You really get your money's worth when you book with this hotel. It's almost half the price as the other hotels on this street and you shouldn't expect a lavish lifestyle hotel. You should expect more of a very good clean room, great hotel staff, great area, beautiful beach area, and a free hour of happy hour everyday you're here. It's well worth-it. - If you decide to stay at the Marseilles, try to go with a positive attitude. Remember to treat others the way you want to be treated. Be nice and people will be nice to you. I would definitely stay here again and recommend others to stay here.

The worst hotel in South Beach

I'm a frequent visitor of Miami and tend to stay in south beach. I love the runs in the morning in the boardwalk and drinks in the evening in the different hotels. I have stayed multiple times in the Ritz, shore club, W, SLS, Delano. This was my first stay in the Marseilles. Never again I will make the same mistake. Carpets are stained, the elevator is not very clean. The noise from Collins make it difficult to sleep (I was in the 7th floor). Not very friendly staff. The whole place gives the impression of a cheap road motel. Small and dated rooms. No water pressure on the shower. They need to remodel the whole place.

No parking

Parking was horrible. The hotel has a lot a block and a half away from the hotel. If they had a spot (which they didn't), we would have to self park. We had to use the valet at the hotel next door which was extra money.

great location, OK hotel

The hotel pool and outdoor area was under renovation which was a shame. Still asked to pay for a amenities fee when the amenities are not there, which was very annoying. Room was very nice but lobby and lack of outdoor space were disappointing.

great staff, good value, but not a premium property yet

Incredibly nice staff, very accomodative. This is an older property going through some updating. Perfect location. Will be a great value once the updating is complete. Current decor in rooms is a little outdated and worn, but runs half the price of the nearby properties. Beach access is exactly the same as the 5 star hotels nearby. If you need value and location, this is it. For a deluxe miami experience, maybe not quite there yet.

The parking is not great however the happy hour was fantastic. They have us the wrong room first but quickly corrected that. The ball man Mike was amazing and patient he helped us with what I felt the desk clerk should've.

Hotel experience

Hotel Marseille: Checked out 12 hours after I checked in. Terrible experience. Didn't sleep during that time. Felt like a dorm room. Carpet dirty. vents dirty. No safe to put my valuables in while I go to the beach. Pool under major construction,so jackhammer was annoyingly loud. You could hear everything down the hallway. I knew the pool would be under construction, I had no idea it was completely under construction. You have permission to use the pool at the hotel next-door and beach access. But overall this hotel should be rated a two star at best, and not a three-star as listed. Photos of website did not depict hotel in person. Bed hard and ugh... Never aGain. Best part...the two staff I saw were nice. Porter helped carry my bags next door to better hotel. I will dispute charges and will never book a package unless I'm familiar with the hotel Via a discount website. Just being honest.
