Tidy, romantic hotel in Miami Beach

I honestly believe this is one of the best price/quality relations in the zone. While not a luxurious hotel, it will certainly satisfy picky customers. Rooms are fairly sized and sparkling clean. The property itself is well maintained, though some small improvements could easily boost the appearance of the place (carpet in hallways looked a bit worn at places, and some decor items look a bit cheap). The fact that it lacks a pool is also a bit of a deterrent, but having the beach so close to the hotel makes up for it. While this is indeed a prime location, (as I said the beach is one block away and pretty much all the action in Miami Beach occurs within a very close range), be advised that Collins avenue is currently (as of September 2013) under public works, so traffic can get unbearable. This is not a place where you want to bring your car into. Valet parking is offered at a rate of $25 a day, but again, give a second thought to the car thing. I got room 203, which overlooked a small alley besides the hotel. Two out of three nights were very peaceful and quiet, but on Saturday I woke up to a somewhat annoying thumping, coming from a nearby club. Nothing that I could not solve with earplugs (and I don't blame the hotel for that) but be aware that, while in a quiet zone overall, you're still in THE zone.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Espanola Way is a wonderful and lively alley that is just a couple of blocks away. It hosts some of the most colorful and amicable bars and restaurants around. A few tourist traps notwithstanding, the majority of the venues are a good choice to have dinner and some drinks. I enjoyed particularly Havana 1957, where you can get some terrific mojitos and get a taste of Cuban cuisine.

Very nice boutique hotel in Art Deco District

My family and I spent one night at the Impala prior to a cruise. We had three rooms, one of which was a suite. We arrived before noon, and Maud (I believe that was her name--from France) made every effort to get one room ready as soon as possible--we had a toddler traveling with us and wanted to get settled in. We really appreciated that. The courtyard entrance is private and the location was quiet. The rooms were very clean with nice linens and pillows. and the beds were so comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of counter space and the shower was high end. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful and pleasant. The location is within walking distance to the beach and to shops and restaurants. My daughter and her husband loved the suite. We found that very few small hotels in South Beach can accommodate a baby or even offer baby cribs. The only downside was the lack of a service elevator--we had a lot of luggage--but we managed just fine, with the help of the wonderful staff. We would definitely recommend the Impala Hotel.

Far exceeded my expectations!

The Impala was amazing, and much nicer than what I expected! I was in South Beach for the winter music conference, and was warned ahead of time that everything was more expensive for the event. I booked the Impala for two simple reasons: 1. it was close to where my friends were staying (practically next door, in fact), and 2. it was $200 cheaper than where my friends were staying. Given that I was traveling on a budget, I wasn't expecting anything as nice as the Impala. It was clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. The bathroom was particularly impressive with a large shower and plenty of space. The location was perfect with the beach only a block away and plenty to do nearby, but the hotel itself was nice and quiet. The hotel staff was nice and very accommodating as well. They recognized us after we stopped in only a few times, and while the room keys are a little bulky they were happy to hold them at the front desk for us. I didn't notice many extras in terms of amenities, but to be fair I also didn't look. There was free Wi-Fi, which was all I really cared about. What's more, I stopped by my friends' hotel and it didn't even cold a candle to the Impala. We paid less AND got the nicer room. You can't beat that.

Good Value with One Issue

Nicely decorated rooms and a location that puts you close to the action. However, you are close to a club and can hear the music late at night. The music didn't prevent me from falling asleep, but it was noticeable and somewhat annoying. A friendly and helpful staff, nice size bathroom, nicely decorated rooms and a reasonable price makes this a good value pick.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a small burrito/taco place on 14th St between Collins and Washington. Very good for a quick meal or take-out. Also, there is a very good sandwich stand next to the burrito place.

THE WORSE EVER

Dirty room, VERY rude feminine male front desk assistant, told I could only get one key though 2 people were on reservation, very run down furniture, television lodged in an immobile position in the corner of the ceiling....This was all within 5 minutes of being there as I canceled my reservation and went to stay at the Whitelaw Hotel which was great!!

Horrible..false advertising

should be sued for false advertising...you do not walk thru a " gatehouse" You walk thru the back hallway of the LaFlora into back alley of restaurant with debris into back door of the Impala. Apparently they have had considerable water damage in lobby of Impala and this room..hard to open door to room( warped) and closet door warped ( no hangers in the closet???)..Room reeked of mildew,,had to put on A/C..a challenge when the temps were in the low 40's and they do not provide heat.Staff to pamper you? what staff? a guy at the desk?the cleaning lady in the am? Should I go on?? Thank goodness for the evening manager [...] who is the only good thing going for this property. He did everything he could to make other arrangements for me.

yuck!!!

This hotel is a dump. The room was ugly, depressing and smelled like my grandmothers basement. The first room they tried to give me was even worse. There were blood stains on the sheets. The lobby is actually in the hotel next door. You have to go through the service exit and walk across a dirty ally where they spray out the bus tubs from the italian restaurant to get to your room. Breakfast consists of a pitcher of 'orange juice' which I think is sunny d, a tray of stale bread, cold cuts of ham and swiss cheese and really weak coffee. For this they want to charge $6. The only positive thing I have to say is that the staff was very friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
