South Beach Getaway

A very small hotel in a quieter area of South Beach if you want to sleep at night. Nice size steam shower; rooms were small, but not bad for one or two people. No view at all. Staff were very nice; upgraded us to a King size bed when we checked in. Provided us clean towels and cleaned up our room nicely each day. Hotel provided free continental breakfast daily. Parking is a bit pricey - $20/day. Walking distance to Collins & Ocean Drive.

Good crash pad for the beach

The pictures of this hotel are a little deceiving. It is not as spacious or beautifully lit as it seems. 2 blocks from the beach, which you can just walk onto, definitely one of the best features. The room was smaller than we anticipated, and there was no table, which was disappointing because we intended to spend some time playing cards/boardgames, but there was no space for it. Steam shower is nice, but small for 2 to enjoy. Door to the shower wasn't clean, and that was a turnoff. There was no iron or coffee pot, although breakfast was included every morning (cereal, yogurt, coffee, pastries) The TV was very small, and we didn't watch it. They do have a library of CDs and DVDs, and it is nice that the stereo is wired to the steam shower. Wi-fi was a plus.

Do not eat at Manolos. The staff is incredibly rude, and messed up our order and didn't even bother to check in after bringing it. Go directly to Big Pink, where you will enjoy friendly service and good food, without the attitude.

Yayyyy!

Upon arriving back in Miami after a wonderful 4-day getaway cruise to the Bahamas, we couldn't have been more relieved to arrive at the Hotel St. Augustine. Right in the heart of South Beach off Washington Avenue, nothing was too far, especially the beach! The staff was warm, inviting, and accomodating fron the get-go. They checked us into our room hours before the set check-in time. The room was INCREDIBLE. Not only was it massive and gorgeous but immaculate as well. My husband and I have never stayed in such a beautiful room, or in a boutique hotel such as this. We had some friends come by who couldn't stop admiring how awesome it was. I had a package of party passes delivered (which the concierge was also veryyyy helpful with) and even the man on the phone said, "woah, that is a nice place!" when given the name of our hotel. We went out one of the nights on foot to a restaurant found in the food guide in our room, followed by some clubbing in the area. Couldn't have made a better decision. Between taking steamroom showers and running to the beach for a quick swim or tan, we could be caught lounging away on the MASSIVE bed in our comfy robes. Housekeeping never strayed and each front desk worker was as informed and pleasant as the last. The smoking area out front was nice, rather than standing on the street, and indoors they had a nice bar area up front with couches, barstools, a tv, microwave, fridge, etc. Most of the patrons were as equally awesome and friendly, given it was memorial day weekend so there were a few 5 a.m.-ers I could have done without hearing in the hall, but that'd have happened any hotel. So overall I highly highly highly suggest if you are staying in Miami Beach, make sure you are in South Beach and staying at the dreamy Hotel St. Augustine.

Best staff at SOBE!

The staff was wonderful! They were friendly, respectful, and helpful. During my 8-day stay, I became allergic to something - I couldn't stop sneezing. So, I spoke to the front desk and asked if anyone else had been suffering from allergies. He assured me he had not. Then, after an honest and caring conversations with me, he put me into another room. I felt better and enjoyed a great week. The nicest part, during the rest of my vacation the desk clerk kept making sure I was ok. Thank you. The rooms were basic but modern and very clean. Well kept hotel. Loved the steam showers! No coffee pot in the room but SB is just a few blocks away.

Ask for the prices upfront. My g/f ordered a medium-daquiri. It cost $20. I almost ordered a $40 pasta dish.

Awful hotel

Room was disgusting. Carpets in hallways and room torn, and black from dirt. No elevators. Paper thin walls. Dirty bed. Shower in the open.

Excellent value for the money

Better than decent hotel, clean, stylish, quite. Missing a mini-fridge, iron, ironing board (had to get it from the front desk) and clock. In a good location, the begining of the strip and 2 blocks from the beach. Overall, a good hotel; I would stay there again.

Chic and Quiet

The hotel is located on Washington Ave between 3rd and 4th Street. So it is only blocks away from the center of action. Being a New Yorker, I walked everywhere in SOBE from my hotel and it is a very pleasant walk. The hotel itself has a small yet very chic lobby, but there is no elevator. My room was on the 2nd floor so I had to carry my luggage up a full flight of stairs. Luckily I was there for a short stay so I only had a carry-on with me. The room is very pleasant, and the best water pressure from the shower compared to many hotels I stayed at! I feel the only inconvenience is the fact that the room has no dresser so it was hard to unpack. All in all, I would definitely stay there again.

Nice

Hotel was nice. Ocean was not far from it. We did not have a chance to test the steam room, but I think it would be great because I saw the equipmen in it. Breakfast was good. The place was clean and quiet. Walgreens was just one block away.
