Best staff at SOBE!
The staff was wonderful! They were friendly, respectful, and helpful. During my 8-day stay, I became allergic to something - I couldn't stop sneezing. So, I spoke to the front desk and asked if anyone else had been suffering from allergies. He assured me he had not. Then, after an honest and caring conversations with me, he put me into another room. I felt better and enjoyed a great week. The nicest part, during the rest of my vacation the desk clerk kept making sure I was ok. Thank you. The rooms were basic but modern and very clean. Well kept hotel. Loved the steam showers! No coffee pot in the room but SB is just a few blocks away.

Short walk from hotel
Ask for the prices upfront. My g/f ordered a medium-daquiri. It cost $20. I almost ordered a $40 pasta dish.

Awful hotel
Room was disgusting. Carpets in hallways and room torn, and black from dirt. No elevators. Paper thin walls. Dirty bed. Shower in the open.

Excellent value for the money
Better than decent hotel, clean, stylish, quite. Missing a mini-fridge, iron, ironing board (had to get it from the front desk) and clock. In a good location, the begining of the strip and 2 blocks from the beach. Overall, a good hotel; I would stay there again.

Chic and Quiet
The hotel is located on Washington Ave between 3rd and 4th Street. So it is only blocks away from the center of action. Being a New Yorker, I walked everywhere in SOBE from my hotel and it is a very pleasant walk. The hotel itself has a small yet very chic lobby, but there is no elevator. My room was on the 2nd floor so I had to carry my luggage up a full flight of stairs. Luckily I was there for a short stay so I only had a carry-on with me. The room is very pleasant, and the best water pressure from the shower compared to many hotels I stayed at! I feel the only inconvenience is the fact that the room has no dresser so it was hard to unpack. All in all, I would definitely stay there again.

Long walk from hotel
I went to Tapas y Tintos on Espanola Way with some friends and had a really good time. The food was great and the tapas portions were very generous.

Nice
Hotel was nice. Ocean was not far from it. We did not have a chance to test the steam room, but I think it would be great because I saw the equipmen in it. Breakfast was good. The place was clean and quiet. Walgreens was just one block away.

Got the job done
Overall the hotel was good enough for the function that it served- sleeping/showering. We did not spend that much time there so the issues that we did have were not vacation affecting. Basically the main issue was that the bathroom was not closed off and the shower was open. I love my friends but i was not excited about having to view them in the shower. We ended up making our own "shower curtain" with my beach towel. We could have used more closet space, and a fell length mirror- but we made it work. Continental breakfast was pretty skimp, I really just appreciated the orange juice. The location is good. Its close enough to the beach and strip, and just far enough away from all of the craziness of the strip.

Hotel St. Augustine
~ 4.5 stars. Great value! Steam showers were nice and relaxing after a long day at the beach. Close to everything (5 minutes walk from beach) and equally close to the buses that will take you all throughout South Beach, with complimentary beach towel rentals as well as daily pastries and continental breakfast!

Just Right for Us!
My best friend and I stayed at Hotel St. Augustine and found it to be "just right" for us. I have stayed at many other South Beach hotels, and increasingly have been disappointed at the low quality of accommodations and dining considering the high tourist-trap prices. But Hotel St. Augustine provided a terrific value. It's located just enough off the beaten path to keep it quiet. Yet it's only a two block walk to the beach. And it's very close to the new establishments creating the lively new vibe South of Fifth. Plus the staff were very friendly and attentive to us and the rooms were very clean. At their recommendation, we enjoyed terrific cocktails at the waterfront bar at Smith and Wollensky. For a splurge, we had a delicious dinner at BTL on Ocean Drive including a kobe-style skirt steak and japalapeno mashed potatoes that remain memorable a week a later. And we walked to the north end of Ocean Drive several times to have hands-down the best quality food value on the main South Beach strip at the Front Porch. I definitely will stay there again. My only suggestion for improvement a.s.a.p. would be new hallway carpeting.

Hotel St Augustine
The hotel was cute. It didnt have any complimentary bottled water and the breakfast advertised is not what they actually serve. The bar does not have alcohol which they advertise online. But overall the hotel served its purpose.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
Most clubs are between 12 and 15th and Washington Ave....for females, if you have on heels, you will need a cab.
