Great location, not high class, but good

They let us check in very early and late the last day. Don't expect a high class hotel, but it seemed clean enough, although the rooms, especially the bathrooms need renovation. The location is excellent (two blocks from the Ritz Carlton) and also safe. I would stay there again for a short stay, but not for my yearly vacation.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

4 blocks to the pedestrian only area in the Art Deco district with amazing italian cafes, hooka bars and brand name shopping. A must-do in the evening after sunset. Very safe.

My room was inexpensive I now know why. It was nothing to write home about. In fact, I made sure I was there as little as possible.

Cheezy but clean!

I love that the hotel was built in 1941 and has a lot of history. But, I wished they would have invested in making it more attractive. The art in the lobby was dreadful and in our room #324, the curtains clashed badly with the bedspreads. the mattresses were on a tilt... I slept on a hill! Nice to have the kitchenette and the shower worked well. The hotel needs updated to say the least. However, we were shopping price and it was the best price. Like they say, you get what you pay for!

Great location,would stay here again!

Staff took abit to warm up to us, they were very helpful and even let me make a long distance call on their cell phone. We got in late our first night so the only room they had left was one on the first level at the front of the hotel near the street which was very noisy since its was a Saturday night. I asked if they had any other rooms and they switched us the next morning to a much quieter room with no problems. The hotel is located right across from a beach entrance. It is also located at the beginning of Ocean Drive which is one block over. You can walk down Ocean drive and there are lots of small cafes to eat out on the sidewalk. Lincoln Drive is just around the corner. One of the handiest things was the local bus for 25 cents that you catch one street over on Washington. It drives in a circle around South Beach both directions so you can walk as far as you want and then take the bus back home if your tired. It will say South Beach Local on the front of the bus. There are three Publix grocery stores on the bus route so its handy to get some groceries. They are located on both ends of the bus route, the bus drivers are helpful so you can just ask them. We had a great time!!

Flop Housr

The smell of urine was so strong that my eyes were watering. I Paid 180.00 dollars a night for?????? The furniture was from a second hand shop. The hot water was gone by 9 oclock. The soap was from a diffent hotel everyday. The towels were from a second hand shop, old holiday inn with the green stripe. Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!! Was told to leave a tip to have the dishes washed, left a tip and the dishes were never washed, and the tip was gone.

Great Location

I read the other reviews and was a little nervous about renting the room. I decided to do it anyways, and was glad I did. The room was very clean and smelled great. The water pressure in the shower was awesome. The staff is very unfriendly, but who cares if you are in vacation in South Beach, you only deal with them briefly. It does tend to have a funny smell in the lobby, but it is an Art Deco hotel on the beach. A parking garage is down the block and is very reasonable ($16 a day). I would highly recommend this hotel for the price and location!

Fabulous Location, Very Affordable

The hotel its self was very basic, but the location was great. It was 2 blocks from the beach, and 1 block from the start of Ocean Drive, making walking very easy to many wonderful restaurants, clubs and beach shops. People watching from this hotel was great too since so much was happening around it. The room was a little small and outdated, but cleanly and accomadating with a kitchenette area with fridge, microwave, and sink. We loved that the cleaning staff left the temperature setting of our room as we set it, insteading of blaring the air conditioning after cleaning like most other hotels. Parking was not available in the hotel, but a garage was around the corner that was very reasonably priced. We would stay ther again. Plus, they didn't harrass us when we checked out an hour late on Sunday due to over sleeping! For our weekend stay, this hotel was perfect.
