Freehand Miami was created for a new generation of travelers, incorporating innovative design and a comfortable community atmosphere at an affordable price. Freehand is centrally located just a block from the beach at the corner of 28th Street and Indian Creek Drive. The property offers both private and shared accommodations, with handcrafted interiors by acclaimed designers, Roman and Williams, and local artists producing custom pieces for the guest rooms and public spaces. The property also features a swimming pool and lush center courtyard, bocce courts, ping pong, bicycles, communal kitchen, and social event programming for guests, all curated by an activities concierge. Local food & beverage offerings include our acclaimed specialty cocktail bar, The Broken Shaker, named one of The Worlds 50 Best Bars in 2014. Located in a historic house adjacent to the courtyard, Freehands new full service restaurant and bar, 27, focuses on a welcoming communal atmosphere and the creative spirit of a modern-day salon, utilizing the freshest local ingredients and highest-quality produce available, much of it grown on the propertys onsite garden. Keeping in style with the Broken Shaker, 27s menu pays homage to the diversity of Miami and its melting pot of flavors and cultures and mirrors the hostel's eclectic and laid-back spirit. 27 was voted by Eater as one of The hottest restaurants in Miami right now.

Relaxing experience

Although I chose to stay in a room-share with 8 beds, it was a nice way to get to know people from all around the world, everyday. The location is awesome: the bus from Miami Airport stops almost in front of the hostel, it's close to a latino and very cheap market, and 2 blocks from the beach. The vibe in the hostel was very nice, they have a great variety of items for breakfast (included!) and such a beautiful lounge with the pool, lots of tables and chairs to help you stay tan during the day, or to chat with friends followed by good music in a private bar at night.

Great Trip !

The stay was comfortable. It was a solo backpacking to Miami and it was worth staying at Freehand due to the location and accessibility. It is just a backpackers hostel. Highly recommended for those who are on budget.

Cool place to stay

I've stayed at this hostel many times and it's nice way to stay if your on a budget. You can get a room for under 30 bucks. You get a bed, a power outlet, towel and locker and the place is super clean Cuz they clean it daily. It has 2 bathrooms very clean for 8 roommates. Also has water to drink available along with free wifi. All my roomates were cool, no problems with any of them, just introduce yourself, everyone is here just to vacation or a place to stay, no one is here for trouble.

Quick getaway

Honestly, this was very really good. I'd never stayed in a hostel before and was kinda worried but it turned out to be a good experience. There were several different guests because the others were staying less time than I was but I met some really nice people. I would recommend it and do it again.

Staff are very nice but management needs to get better organized

I reserved a bed in a shared room of 8 beds. When I got to my room and bed, someone else had taken it. I went back to the reception desk and was assigned another room and bed. The same thing happened. Someone had already taken my bed. I also saw this happening with other people, who complained about the same problem. Since someone had taken my bed, I had to take a different one. So I went to the reception desk and reported the problem and the bed number in which I was sleeping. The next day, another person arrived who had been assigned my bed. In a nutshell, this is a big problem and it needs attention immediately. I have stayed in hostels before and have not had this issue. The staff are very kind and helpful but perhaps they don't have a working system to deal with this. Cleaning can also significantly improve.
