Big Hotel with not too many extras

Would not recommend Fri, May 1, 2015
The hotel was quite large, however, it did not feel like there were enough activities or amenities offered. There is no restaurants near by (at least a 15 min walk) however the food in the hotel was mediocre and overpriced (roughly $40 a person for breakfast). The hotel was loud and pretty crowded yet there is are very few seats in the lobby and really no area to sit in and do some work on your computer. The wifi in the rooms does not work well and worked better outside near the pool areas. The parking (you will most likely need a car at this hotel as it is quite isolated) is about $45 a night, however, the car service is not quick and we had to wait about 20 minutes for the valet on a number of occasions. On the positive side, the lobby is beautiful.

Awesome solo getaway

Would recommend Fri, Apr 17, 2015
I travel frequently and Eden Roc is my favorite hotel in Miami. I've stayed in both the legendary tower and the new Ocean tower and both rooms had wonderful views and marvelous comfortable amenities. My favorite location is the Ocean Tower (ocean view rooms) on higher floors. Any room... any size... it's the perfect getaway for solitude or even with a loved one. I would give this hotel 10 Stars if I could.

Just Ok

Would not recommend Mon, Apr 6, 2015
I booked an oceanfront king balcony and upon checking in was told we were in the legendary tower. The room, although spacious was very dingy feeling: stained chair cushions, chipped furniture, smudges and fingerprints everywhere and old looking carpets. The balcony was huge but overlooked a parking lot and didn't have a stick of furniture to sit on! It was an awful room but it was the overwhelming urine smell that made me call the desk for another room. I was quickly assigned another room and was told someone would be up with a new key. 15 minutes later, no key. After calling and explaining again the situation someone came promptly with a new key. Again new room was in the legendary tower and again it felt dirty and dingy with no furniture on the balcony. My husband noted that there was no need for furniture because once seated your only view would be of the solid concrete balcony walls, so what's the point of the balcony? Again unhappy I called and requested to be moved out of the tower, it was clear it was the older part of the hotel and I wanted out. I have realistic expectations but for the rate I was paying, these rooms were sub par. At the very least a room should feel and smell clean don't you think? So, after some discussion I was given a regular balcony room in the new tower which I was told was the same rate as my legendary tower suite. The new room was much better with newer furniture, glass walled balcony with a great ocean view and furniture to sit on! After the room debacle our stay improved. The beach staff were great and super helpful and the beach chairs and umbrellas were plentiful. Service in the outdoor restaurant is abysmal. So slow. Food was ok, drinks were great but you'll pay a lot for them. Room service was fast but my pancakes came cold...didn't bother with it again. Oh, and they are doing construction (not sure if it's on the Eden Roc property or Fontainebleau's) and it was SO loud and disruptive. Loud trucks, beeping trucks, banging and yelling, it was absolutely ridiculous! Overall, I enjoyed the beach and pool and the new room with the beautiful view and I will say most the staff were very friendly and helpful but the experience with the room wrangling and construction noise really will keep me from ever going back. The also do not have mini bars in the room which is kind of lame. If you do decide to go, avoid the legendary tower!

Disappointing

Would not recommend Sun, Mar 15, 2015
I read some of the bad reviews before I booked at this hotel and I though they are just "picky". I got to the hotel today, I think they are right. The room is "not really clean". There only one "uncomfortable chair" in the room. The carpet really needs to be changed. They have the worst room service staff I have ever dealt with. Very nice view from the balcony but there are no chairs. Be aware of the high parking fees. I am stuck at this hotel as I have already paid my full week. I have learned my lessons.

Boat Show Trip

Would not recommend Tue, Feb 24, 2015
Let me say upfront this weekend, because of the Miami Beach Boat show, is the busiest weekend of the year. But being a four or five star hotel, the Eden Roc should be able to handle it, well they didn't. The problem started when I gave the okay for the staff to take our few bags, being told they would in the room in a few minutes. After waiting 30 minutes we called the front desk and was told we were supposed to call and request our bags to be sent up to the room! For $800 per night I expected the room to be something special. Well there was nothing special about our room. It looked and felt like the room you stay at during a long drive from Connecticut to Florida. The view on the other hand was excellent, except for the lounge chairs that we couldn't use because we were told there are no cushions available. The sliding door to the balcony required a weight lifter body to open. There were no pamphlets in the room showing what amenities were available at the hotel requiring a phone call to the front desk to to find out what restaurants were available and what type of food they served. The room was neat but not very clean, i.e. makeup on the side of the full view mirror and coffee stains on the counter next to the coffee pot. Worst of all was the shower area. I love long hot showers and was encouraged by the large shower head on the ceiling. But after a few minutes I found myself standing in 5 inches of water, the water came in must faster that it went out, how disgusting standing in your own shower water!!! When I brought all of this to the front desk they said they were sorry and credited one dinner and the resort fees for $117.00! I just spent $2,049.00 for two nights and they gave me $117.00 back… If it wasn’t for the spectacular boat show across the street from the hotel, the reason why I booked at the Eden Roc in the first place, the weekend would have been a complete disaster. No I didn't buy a boat.

Romantic Getaway

Would recommend Wed, Jan 28, 2015
I booked this as a last minute getaway for our anniversary and was able to get a room upgrade to a suite with a view of both the canal and the ocean. The spa was excellent and the food was great. The property is pretty expansive and had an island feel to it. We will definitely stay there again.
