The Strand Hotel Ocean Drive

- Breakfast starts from 8:30 AM This might be late. - The floor is too thin. Noise may bother you. - Musics from outside are noisy. - This hotel is overpricing. - Many rooms are facing to building. - There is no parking of this hotel. You need to look for public parking.

Stay at Ocean drive hotel

Me and my friends really enjoyed staying in the Congress hotel. I' ve been to Miami before, but vacation is all about your time and fun, this location has it all. Really - all you need is in short walk distance (restaurants, shops, clubs, beach, etc). We had 2 rooms and both of them were nice and clean. It was kind of cold to swim in pool since it's December, but their heated roof top pool and the view to the ocean from it are just amazing!! Love it! Will be back.

Average/Mediocre Hotel, Nice Location

The hotel was fairly clean, but in seriously need of updating. We stayed in the "retro" section. There was a nice view of the dirty noisy alley from our balcony. The room was a nice size and had a nice kitchenette. The bathroom was awkward to use with an oval tub and shower surrounded by a plastic curtain with no place to set your soap/shaving items. The maids didn't speak much English and we ran out of toilet paper and could not get more. The hotel charged $25 per day "resort fee" for absolutely nothing. No exercise room or spa; just a small rooftop pool that we didn't even use. The Atlantic restaurant that was associated with the hotel was very deceptive and price-gouging. Beware of the 2 for 1 drink specials. It only applies if you buy more than one of the same drink for yourself and you cannot use one of the drinks for a companion. Make sure you ask how much the drinks are also. The large Mojito is $25! Also, beware of blaringly loud middle-of-the-night Hannukah parades that will knock you out of a dead sleep and nearly out of your bed at 1am. On a positive note, it was right across the street from the beach. Oh, and don't be shocked when you find out it's a topless beach.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Go somewhere off the Ocean Drive area for better prices and service on just about everything unless you enjoy being a price-gouged tourist.

Awesome place!

Right on Ocean Dr. Across the beach and 1/2 block away from Versace's Mansion. Gay beach on 12 St - just a block away. . . Teh hotel gives you beach towels. A lovely large suite with a killer bathroom - very comfortable and a sweet kitchenette (perfect for warming up food and mixing cocktails!) a great King sized bed. Food, bars and music all around and to top it off A block from Collins which has fantastic shopping!!! You can walk to all the fun places even Lincoln Rd (to die for!)

Food places on Ocean Dr. are overpriced and not good - your typical tourist traps. Go to Lincoln Rd, Collins, Washington. Search the internet for places

Good Location-Cleaning Crew very Suspect

The hotel itself was average and old (Retro Building). Don't believe the tutorials that you see on-line. The rooms look nothing like that up close and personal. The location of the hotel on Ocean Dr is cool and that's the best part about staying there as its well within walking distance of all the night life spots both on Ocean Drive as well as Washington Street which is 2 blocks over in south beach. You also are right across the street from the beach. Beware of using debit cards at this hotel (Congres) as you may definitely have some sort of erroneous charge to your account that will not clear for 3-5 business days.

One cannot beat the location.

One cannot beat the location. Personnel was very friendly and extremely helpful. Valet parking is a plus, however, at $ 35.0 per night a bit pricey. Vouchers for breakfast were appreciated, but since the Atlantic Rest. does not open until 8.30am and this was a business trip, only 2 of 5 vouchers could be used. The elelvator in the building broke down, one had to use the stairs, which was ok., but security was not given, since the backdoor was kept unlocked.

The Congress Hotel (formerly The Strand)

It seems that the hotel's interior designer made a big mistake by specifying white furniture fabric (sofa, chairs, footstools - which, by the way, do turn into single beds) since I've seen several reviews complaining about stains and dirty furniture. Well, we were given one of the rooms with this problem. I went to reception, told them about it and we were re-booked into a junior suite which was wonderful. Both rooms had well supplied kitchens with new appliances which was very useful for our 6 day stay. Staff was excellent and willing to go the extra mile to please. One thing everyone should be aware of - the resort fee. Now $12 per day but this has become very common with South Beach hotels. [...] I have stayed at six or seven hotels on Ocean Drive and I have to say that The Congress is the best so far.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The beach is across the street and the beach towels, beach lounges, and shelters made the resort fee worthwhile. Everything in South Beach is a short walk away.
