South Beach boutique hotel marries old and new Miami Beach

The hotel is located in a prime area of South Beach, between Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive. Jetsetters appreciate the Art Deco exterior details with contemporary interiors. The hotel has 90 rooms and black-and-white cabanas. A safari-themed lobby -- complete with African tribal masks -- welcomes guests into the intimate space. The hotel boasts a rooftop sundeck and hot tub and romantic, softly lit rooms.

Highlights
  • Safari-themed boutique hotel with Art Deco exterior and modern decor
  • Free shuttle service to and from Miami International Airport
  • Private rooftop sundeck and hot tub
  • Happy hour between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Scooter, bike and skateboard rentals
Rooms

Dramatic lighting -- think candles and chandeliers -- create a sense of sultriness in the 90-room property. Rooms have doubles or kings. The Chesterfield Rooms take inspiration from nature, incorporating colors like green, eggplant and mahogany into the walls and bedding. The Chesterfield Penthouse looks like a South Beach bachelor pad decked out with a white leather sofa, king bed and matching wall units. Each room has a T-1 Internet connection, mini bar, safe and Mascioni linens and robes.

Features

The hotel is ideally situated for visitors wanting to be close to the South Beach action. However, its appeal goes beyond location. The property embodies the chic boutique experience, with its lounge (called, what else: Safari Bar?) and residential-style suites at sister and next-door property The Lily-Leon.

There was bugs all in our room, mosquitoes and everything so we got switched. The next night I had red itchy bumps from the new room. Bad stay overall

Great Friends, Great Stay

I booked this hotel mostly for it's close proximity to everything and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed myself. Luis, George, and all the desk staff that I encountered were very helpful and generous. Parking was a bit expensive, and the bar was very overpriced, but those were minor for me. The food was delicious! I'd definitely stay here again and I'm so happy that this journey brought me to the Chesterfield

Perfect location

This hotel is just short walk from the beach and close to shopping and entertainment. The free happy hour is a plus! Definitely a hotel for party goers. The loud music and louder people probably wouldn't make a family with kids pretty happy. But if you're like us and are looking for a good time right outside your door, this is the place to be. I only have 2 complaints. First, there was a problem with our keys. We had to get new room keys every night we were there. Second, the room was really dark. I had to take the lamp shade off to get ready because I could hardly see.

perfect if your a party goer

Valet was around the block; had to carry our own bags. The room was small and on the first floor so we could hear everything from the dj in the lobby to party goers heading to their rooms.

Great hotel

Enjoyed staying there, room was very comfy and clean. Interior was unique and neat. The only thing I didn't like is that some staff wouldn't speak good English.

Granddaughter & friend

They were very pleased that upon arrival they were offered a room with two beds instead of the one queen they had reserved...and at no extra cost. Had they known valet service would take more than 3/4 of an hour for the car to arrive, they would have requested it earlier.

NO BUENO

This hotel is small, crowded and over booked. The staff is lovely, but the rooms are small, next to a alleyway w. trash and roaches. The light is bad and the location is so/so

Walk majority of your stay. Collision ave is the party spot but all of the hotels in that area are not of great quality

Year 2 for Carnival

This was my 2nd year to stay at The Chesterfield during the Caribbean Carnival weekend. This time I stayed in a Villa instead of a regular room. The Villa was very spacious and very remote. The grounds were amazing. The staff were extremely friendly. Jose the doorman greeted us with a very friendly greeting then he escorted us to the room. Him and all the other staff members were extremely friendly and comforting. The only negative was the shower which drained closely and after I filed a complaint with the front desk, there was no change. When showering the water would get ankle deep.
