Features

Palm-tree lined grounds and a well-rounded buffet pamper guests aiming for the resort experience. Seedy

Our first impression was poor when the bellmen at the entrance ignored us and our rather heavy bags. The rooms have no coffee makers and none is available until 7:30 am,lousy shower,no free papers ,all buffet no menus. wait staff in resturant were friendly and helpful, check in people were also helpful and friendly. Pool was ok. Would spend more to stay at a nicer place next time.

Avoid this hotel

We travel all the time. We have been to third world countries. I can stay at a bad hotel, and still have a good time. We have stayed at this chain's hotel in Mexico. Our stay in Miami was bad from the start. First they gave us a room already assigned to another family, so we walked in on another couple- awkward!!! The upgrade room was not much better. The carpet was extremely dirty, our room was never cleaned while we were there. We asked for towels, we got them at 2:00am. They do not provide seatng for you on the beach. You are nickled and dimed for everything. I expected more. I know we were not staying at Trump's place, but this was very poor service.

EVEN HALF THE RATE IS TOO MUCH

LOCATION AND LOBBY ARE REALLY DECEIVING, CHECK IN WAS QUICK , RECEPTIONIST ( [...] ) WERE GREAT AND THE POOL AND THE BEACH ARE NICE , AND THAT IS AS FAR AS YOU GET OF ANY GOOD OR REASONABLE THING .AS SOON AS WE ENTERED THE ROOM WE WERE REALLY FRUSTRATED !! IT WAS VERY OUTDATED (BEYOND YOUR IMGAGINATION) FURNITURE ( IF SO CALLED SO ) BELONGS TO A CHEAP MOTEL WITH DIRTY AND WORN OUT CARPET THAT WE DIDN'T FEEL SAFE WALKING BARE FOOTED ON IT , THE BATHROOM FOLLOWS THE SAME THEME , OUTDATED, VERY OLD AND CHEAP TILES , EVEN TOWELS WERE SO OLD . THE ROOM DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A KETTLE AND COFFEE MACHINE . ANOTHER JOKE IS THE SAFE ( SO CALLED ELECTRONIC SAFE ) IT WAS BUILT IN THE CLOSET AND THEY WANTED TO CHAREGE $ 2.00 PE DAY WHETHER YOU USE IT OR NOT (REFUSD TO PAY IT) . THE ONLY FLOOR THAT IS SMOKE FREE ( OR THOIGHT IT IS , AS THE ROOM NEXT TO US WERE SMOKING WE COULD SMELL IT FROM THE TERRACE AND CORRIDOR)PRICE IS WAY TOO INFLATED, EVEN FOR HALF THE PRICE IT IS STILL NOT WORTH FEELING SO CHEAP STAYING IN THIS HOTEL , WHICH COULD NEVER BE RATED AS 4 STARS , IT IS A MAXIMUM OF 2 STARS FOR THE QUALITY OF THE ROOM .STAY AWAY IF THEY DON'T RESPECT THE NEEDS OF CUSTOMERS AND UPDATE THEIR ROOMS TO MATCH THE LOCATION AND VIEW .

Abysmal, more motel than 4-star hotel

Service and accommodations are not at 4-star level. Both more akin to a motel. Also, location is not really South Beach. The Lincoln Dr strip is on 17th, Ocean Dr starts even lower. The hotel is on 31st. The surrounding area is not pleasant either. The hotel is surrounded by abandoned building that are falling apart.

Not worth it

Not what expected. Pictures do not reflect reality. The room was horrible. A waste of money. The food was expensive and terrible. Really the worst experience and we went with our kids.

"The bad, the terrible, and the worse"

This trip compared to my previous trips was horrible! The hotel had a hidden charge that was not listed. When I went to Las Vegas in February it was fantastic, and there was no hidden charges. They were up front about additional fees. No one in the Hotel spoke english. The hotel room was dark, dank, and dem. I was surprised when the Hotel had absolutely no wash clothes!!!!! I would NEVER stay at the RIU Miami Beach Hotel again, or any other RIU for that matter!

PLEASE DONT DO IT!!

I wish someone had warned me not to throw away my hard earned money at this hotel. We were celebrating our 1yr anniversary and decided to stay here. The numberous disasters are listed below: 1st DISASTER-You have to valet(which is fine)but we stood there with our bags (THAT WE UNLOADED)near our car for 10MINUTES waiting for someone to come and "handle" our bags. Not that there were two guys from valet standing off to the side talking amongst themselves. I got so tired of waiting(with jet lag & all)that I told my 14 yr old daughter to go inside & retrieve a cart. She comes back out & said that a guy from the front desk srceamed at her not to take the-as though she was stealing the thing! I went inside and that same person was with a customer, he looked up and proceeded to tell me not to take the cart...I looked at him, and if looks could kill! I took the cart ANYWAY, because I knew there was no way in hell I was going to continue standing OUTSIDE in the HOT & HUMID outdoors(im not built like that). We loaded up & proceeded to the elevator and passing the front desk I hear someone tell me "We will help you upstairs, we will help with the bags". I turned towards the front desk not knowing who had just made that stupid comment & asked "Does it look like I need your help?!" You have people standing around outside getting paid to do nothing! 2nd DISASTER- Some guy (with the hotel) knocks THEN ENTERS the room while Im getting dressed. My husband runs to the door to stop him from coming in. He says that he had the wrong room, and he was trying to check the lights. 3RD DISASTER- We constantly had to go on a manhunt for towels. Although we call the front desk to send towels they never came. We had to catch the housekeeping in the hall for clean towels. 4TH DISASTER- The blankets to the beds smelled like urine. I thought it was all in my mind but when I asked my daughter about it she said the same thing! I have never been so disappointed. I was trying to celebrate the union of my marriage, & I had saved all year to do so. In this economy it really is not easy. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION,(AND MONEY)

Ants n no ac

This place was insane. The check In desk was busy all the time. Staff were not friendly. We had ants all over our room n when we asked to change our room. We were told we had to wait the next day. Then, the ac broke. Bad experience!!

Expecting a lot more

We had ants in our room, we had a smoking room and asked for non-smoking. The pool was good but we were asked not to enter after 730pm which it wasn't even dark yet. The bar had good drinks but was understaffed at times and took a long time to close out. The beach was good but had a bunch of rocks that could have been dangerous. The hotel did have a seaweed/kelp net up which was really nice cause on either side of the net on the other hotel beaches, there was a ton of seaweed. The hotel excursions were not clearly listed so we missed out on those. The hotel was not around any food or shops (that is not the hotel restaraunt) and had to take a cab to get anywhere. The lobby was really nice but I had expected a lot more for it being south beach and what we were paying. I would have rather gone to a different part of Florida. So if you are going to south beach on a budget... Don't go, go somewhere else. If you aren't on a budget stay at a hotel that is $350-500 a night.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

At the most southern point of south beach there is a park that has bicycle rentals for $5 an hour and allows you to see all of south each in a short amount of time. There are also other areas you can return the bikes throughout south beach so you can always take a cab there and return it at another station.
