Not a Traveler-Friendly Hotel

The carpet in the room was old and stained. The one dining establishment left lots to be desired. The fitness center contained three pieces of old, rickety aerobic machines (no free weights or any type of strengthening equipment) in a very small, confined area. As far as I know, there was no shuttle service to anywhere, nor were there any tours from the hotel to local attractions. It was not near any restaurants, stores, or entertainment establishments. The staff wasn't the friendliest or most accomodating I've experienced. I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone unless they were really seeking an economical place to stay, that is, if you consider about a hundred bucks a night for a minimally comfortable facility.

Unhappy Visitor

Staff tried to charge us an extra fee, didn't have room size/type we booked thru Orbitz available. Manager was very rude, we had to call Orbitz customer service to get any satisfaction. When we finally got our room it was smokey (in a nonsmoking hotel),dirty, it also took us over an hour to get our room and we had reservations a month prior to going there. I have stayed in Miami before at others hotel and never experienced such unprofessionalism, rudeness in my life!! I will never stay there again.Thank God for [...] (customer service)with Orbitz who worked on our behave to get us a room.

The hotel needs alot of work and update.

The hotel had a stench. Their breakfast was terrible, for eg. the bananas were all rotten and had flies around them. And their furnitures are very old and damaged.

Fair, but would not stay again

Efficient, but unhelpful staff. Difficult to enter and exit hotel entrance and parking lot. Need to offer map of immediate area. Patrons stay at thiis hotel for the sports arenas and sporting activities close by, but coming from out of town, have no idea how to find and attend those activities. Needed directions. Pool was full of old, rotting leaves and appeared not to have been cleaned for a very long time.

The Good, Bad and Ugly

Very Noisy Hotel right next to Highway. Person in the room next to us was coughing the walls are as thin as a sheet. Breakfast was a joke cold danish and coffee tucked into a hallway by the elevators. I would not recommed to anyone.

Hotel Stay[...]

HOTEL AWEFUL [...]. Worst hotel stay of my life. It appears that the staff had real issues with online booking. When I made the reservations I was told I would be staying in an Executive Room. When we checked in the hotel & entered into the room it was a double bed hotel room w/all other furnishing you will find in a regular hotel room. Nothing Executive about it. The furniture was dusty, the room had an overwhelming odor. The bathtub although it may have been clean it's appearance was not. The basin of the tub look grey. I called the front desk making sure the room I was in was that of a Executive Room. [...]So, I was stuck in a room that was stink, dusty and afraid to take a shower. Thank goodness we only book for one night.

Simply Not Good!

We booked this room in conjunction with a Marlins game at Sun Life Stadium. However, we would have been much better off staying elsewhere. The location was outside walking distance, and the front desk advised against trying to do so from a safety perspective. While there was nothing necessarily "dirty" about the room, it certainly didn't convey the feeling of being truly clean. There was no warm, never mind hot, water from the sink or the shower. The shower was rendered moot since the water pressure from the shower head was no more than would fall from a sink faucet to begin with. And the water that did come out was a bit less than crystal clear. We'd have been better off using a garden hose outside for any sanitary purposes. Usually i say you get what you pay for...but this still fell far short.

Was short changed from the start!!!!

I had reserved this hotel El Palacio Sports Hotel & Conference Center, because of location, that it had DINING,a SPORTS BAR, and a casino next door. But at check in, i was informed that the bar and dining was CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS. No where did i read or see that the both were closed on wednesdays. Then they have you [...] sign a sheet that says no pets and no smoking. But one room smelt like a cigar ashtray(which i reserved nonsmoking) and the other musty and mildewy. On their behalf, they did let us change one room, but what a pain in the rear and waste of our time. So was it a good value, i think not. They didnt even offer any money back or any comp. When we went down check out there was a line and no one at the desk. So i wont be recommending this Hotel to any of my friends, and we all work for a major airline!!!!

Filthy dirty rooms

Grossly stained blankets. Badly stained bed covers. Sheets were ok. Dirty carpet. Greasy stained arm rests and chairs. Stained almost black! Grease on doors and light switches. Filthy. Yuck. One friendly front desk clerk (Domanic (SP?)) out of two. Way away from airport. Not good if time is tight. Noise and light from major Highway right across street could be an issue. Nice pool. Decent continental breakfast. Got propositioned by two "working girls" and their "handler" near the elevators in the lobby. I was with my kids! Give this a pass.

Below my expectations

When I checked in, the room was hot. The bathroom light would not work. The room lamps were unplugged. Overall: it did not meet my expectations.
