Beautiful hotel close to the beach

Would recommend Fri, May 2, 2014
The Boulan is a beautiful hotel. We stayed in the terrace suite room. It was very spacious with a full kitchen and living room area and a separate bedroom and bathroom. There was also a washer and dryer which came in handy. The only inconvenience for us was that there was no coffee maker in the room so we had to leave the hotel and go around the corner to the cafe that also serves the complimentary breakfasts for the hotel. However, the boulan is close to the beach, only a short walk across the street. The rooftop pool is okay. Just a very basic pool and the pool area is much smaller than it looks in the pictures. That was okay though because the beach is amazing and we spent a lot of our time there.

Money saver

Bring your own drinks to the beach as long as they are in plastic containers. The bar by our area of the beach charged almost $20 a drink.

Great space and location but lacking in attention to detail

Would not recommend Sun, Apr 27, 2014
No coffee maker in the kitchen was a big disappointment. The T.V.'s did not work and had to be re-programmed by the staff. It was a struggle to get the key out of the door each time it was unlocked from the outside. When the kitchen chairs were moved they made a horrible noise where they came into contact with the floor. The cleaning staff left dirty rags on the counters and on one occasion, upon our return at the end of the day, we found the door ajar. If renting short term....please, please at least have some dish soap available. The fact that this particular unit was directly on Collins made sitting outside and trying to sleep at night a little bit of a challenge. It would have been nice to have a little more furniture on the "terrace" - two small chairs and a coffee table? Someone from above kept throwing their cigarette butts and cigar butts onto our "terrace". The positives: friendly staff, good valet service, relatively quiet building. The breakfast, although a bit limited by American standards, was well prepared.

Nice hotel, great location

Would recommend Wed, Jan 15, 2014
We enjoyed our stay here and the room upgrade:) Staff was very nice, professional and prompt to respond. Rooms clean and comfy, but you can hear strest noise. Room was so new - it missing a door handle in the bathroom door:))) Bigest dissapointment was the breakfast that was included in the room price that was in Charles street caffe. Beware that you can order only pancakes, eggs, juice, crossants and coffee. Everything else comes from overpriced menu- not worth it!

Beautiful apartment, Not on the beach

Would recommend Thu, Dec 12, 2013
The room (apartment with two bathrooms and a washer/dryer) was amazing, however I was disappointed that the hotel was not on the beach. It was a short one block from the beach - but still a distance to shower or go to the pool and being limited to the third row (away from the ocean) for lounge chairs on the beach did not feel 5 star. The pool was beautiful, although only a city view (no ocean view) and the jacuzzi was luke-warm and disappointing. Pool area closes at dusk - which is another disappointment. The rate was very reasonable which was perhaps due to the loud construction work happening during the day. The sound did not reach my room (thankfully) and the room was the star of the experience. Full beautiful kitchen - everything was tasteful and well appointed.

Unexpected at a South Beach Hotel

Would recommend Wed, Aug 21, 2013
The rooms are large, this is the main advantage, otherwise the hotel is not managed professionally, probably will improve, the guys at the cafe, where breakfast is served and which also belongs to the same investors, are friendly and are trying hard. The hotel doesn't have its own beach and you will have to pick up your towels at the reception before going to the beach, though pictures on the hotel web-site may mislead

Comfortable place to stay for a family

Would recommend Fri, May 24, 2013
This place is located in the upper end of the south beach, so you can get the taste of South beach while avoiding large crowd or traffic. Although not located right on the beach, it was just a block away and had no problem with accessing the beach. There was a nice Art museum and a small park across the road to make the area less crowd. What I most liked about this place is that rooms are equipped with kitchen and utensils so that our family didn't need to go out to restaurants for every meal. Given the generally high price in restaurants in Beach area, this was a huge money saving. Convenience stores were a couple blocks away, definitely walking distance. Wall decorations, paintings and furnishing in the room were not my type, but they are not something to say against about - just a personal taste. Great value. More worth that its price.

Best Escape

Would recommend Sun, Apr 21, 2013
The Hotel was a home away from home. The room made you relax as soon as you walked through the door. The roof top pool, hot tub and roof deck had views to the ocean with lots of privacy. The Hotel dining was family friendly but the service was slow. The location was ideal. One block from the ocean with private beach shared with another oceanfront hotel( chairs, umbrella). Internet on site.
