THE HAMMOCKS AT MARATHON

Excellent room and great location. Trying to get dinner onsite was a hassle, but was directed to a wonderful place off site.

Although the entrance to hotel at this time was construction the hotel was very nice. Was a little bit disillusioned with the "private balcony" that looked out at a chain link fence with a piece of JLG equipment. Overall though stay was good. Will recommend to friends.

liked how easy and comfortable it was to have coffee, breakfast or lunch in room... laundry was available, Had the benefits and comforts of a hotel and an apartment... great location

The Hotel staff was very good, the hotel was nice and the tiki bar was good when it was open. The tiki bar closed at 9:00pm one night and there wasn't much else going on in Marathon that was in walking distance. The hotel was located next to the US Coast Guard Station and every morning they turn on the outdoor speaker system and test alarms. Annoying but entertaining if you have a sense of humor. The hotel wasn't easy to find either due to a small road sign. A fee for internet access? I was surprised since the room rates were high for off season. We rented a boat from a rental business behind the hotel. The rental employee did not have any customer service skills and acted like he was doing us a favor. If you don't know anything about boating, don't rent from that business, they won't ask if you know how to drive a boat and you could end up in a bad situation. Fortunately, we have been boating for 30+ years. Regarding the City of Marathon, oh boy! The city is clearly divided by the have and have not's. The center of the city is basically closed and out of business. The businesses that are open are run down. The streets just off of US Rte 1 are filled with shanty towns, trash in the streets, trailer parks lined trash and they are packed in like sardines. Many small homes are in poor shape too. However, there are two beautiful areas in Marathon, Key Colony and Sombrero Beach. Both are well kept and safe. Simply great areas and I would love to live there but wouldn't due to the terrible condition of the surrounding area. The cost of living is high too, basic goods at local shops and markets are expensive and this was during the off season.

WE WERE THERE FOR A SMALL FAMILY REUNION IN THE AREA. YOU ONLY GET SERVICE DAILY IF YOU HAVE A SEVEN DAY STAY. THE ONLY THING REPLENISHED ARE TOWELS. NO COFFEE, NO MAKING THE BED, NO REPLACEMENT OF SHAMPOO OR BATHROOM TOILETRIES. I WAS VERY SURPRIZED FOR SOMETHING IN THIS PRICE RANGE. I HAVE STAYED AT LESS EXPENSIVE AND BEEN EXTREMELY SATISFIED. I COULD NOT EVEN REQUEST SERVICE IF NEEDED. I WAS TOLD STRICTLY, THAT I MUST BE THERE 7 DAYS.

Save yourself a headache, go elsewhere. This is a hotel. You have to go through the main lobby to get to any rooms, this is not Condos like the website says. From their site they advertised a Studio/1 bd rm Suite. Ha-it was a basic hotel room with a toaster thrown on the nite stand. I called orbitz to express my displeasure, and they talked to the hotel who said they would refund the 2nd nite to me. To make a long story short they didn't refund it when i got my credit card bill and after being told 2x they would, the hotel said "No, you don't get a refund for a second nite after all". After i was told THE DAY I CHECKED OUT i would (otherwise i wouldn't have left it empty the 2nd nite throwing my money away.) Very shifty hotel... Also no fishing from hotel grounds due to close proximity to the coast guard station next door. Really disappointing and expensive lesson learned. What can i say nice? The pool was nice, room was clean and the Tiki bar staff was very nice...

This place is unbelievable!!! the rooms are big and beautiful, theres a jet skie, boat canoe and rod rental on laction. great resturants near by (baracuda grill and 7 mile grill a must!) and 30 minutes from key west... definite must stay! Spirit snorkling is right down the street too and if you mention the hammocks you get a discount!

We found our room at the Hammocks more than what we were expecting. We were very pleasantly surprised with our room at the Hammocks! The room was huge and very clean. We will definitely want to stay there again in the future if in the area. We also found the staff very friendly and helpful.
