worked for me.
Not luxury, but a very nice price. Beds were not great, but not horrible. Decent size room in addition to bedroom. Basic kitchenette. Full fridge. Floor was all tile. Pool. Right on a canal. If your OK with "roughing it" motel -wise you cant beat the price. If you freak because the towels arn't fluffy stay away. The owner is very nice.

clean, quiet, family oriented place
The staff was helpful, friendly and professional. The room was actually an efficiency apartment with a living room/ kitchen, a bed and bathroom. The place wasn't new or fancy but it fit our needs perfectly. Marathon is in the middle of the Keys and is convenient to most of the attractions in the Keys. We are already planning our next stay at this resort.

Stop Thief
We stayed at the king sail resort because we wanted to see Key West. It seemed reasonably priced. We went to Key west and returned to find our laptop computer missing. When we left, the door was locked. When we returned, the door was locked. The laptop was hidden in clothing in a suitcase. The suitcase was open and the computer gone. The police investigated and thought it was someone at the hotel because of no signs of a break in. The manager said we had no proof and her employees were trustworthy. The proof I had is that we know it was there and it disappeared. The doors were locked but still the manager took no responsibility and said we had no proof.

Online reservations=RUDE desk clerks
This place is centrally located in Marathon and easy to find. The room was old but clean and fairly comfortable. It was a good value and would have made reservations for another stay there if not for the fact that this "resort/marina" will only let you dock or launch your boat if you DO NOT reserve online and will be very rude about it. We were told they don't make enough on online reservations to let us use the facilities-no dockage and would not let us even launch the boat or park it over night on the trailer on their property. They don't need any more of my money. Too bad, the place is decent enough but every other place we checked out while we were there seemed to value customers. We are planning our next fishing trip already and staying elsewhere.

Seven Mile Marina was a fun place to eat and enjoy the band. It was loud enough to enjoy and you could actually have a conversation at the table.

A fine motel
The Kingsail is a fine example of an older American motel. As long as you don't have any illusions of it being a resort, you'll be fine. It was very clean. This is no small feat in the Keys. The room was small and spartan. Bring your own shampoo and blow dryer. My wife didn't like the firmer beds, but I had no issue. I'd chalk this up to personal preffanence. The property was located at the end of the runway at Marathon airport. It's not Ohare, but you will hear planes come and go. It was more noticeable over the Fishing Festival weekend. The area around the property was devoid of any bars or restaurants, so a car is a must. The best part was the value. Sure, there are many places nicer than the Kingsail, but you'll pay two to three times the money. The staff was very friendly and was happy to recommend places to go.
