Beautiful setting, great location
We thoroughly enjoyed our 7-night stay. There are only 11 units here, and all have nice Atlantic views across the pool and beach to the ocean. Our unit is clean and recently up-dated with a full kitchen, granite countertops, stainless appliances and laundry. Both the living room and master bedroom have furnished, screened balconies with double French doors to let in the balmy ocean breezes - we never turned on the air conditioning for our stay in March. The grounds are well-kept and quiet, and the staff cleared the beach each morning of any seaweed that had drifted in. Ocean swimming is great and the waters are shallow for quite a distance out. The staff was professional and pleasant, but not intrusive. The location on Grassy Key is adjacent to the start of the paved bicycle trail to Marathon proper (4 mi), and near the beautiful Curry Hammock State Park (1 mi). The immediate area is mostly undeveloped and relaxingly quiet, yet the great restaurants, grills, kayaking, biking, boating, fishing, swimming and shopping opportunities of Marathon are just 5 miles away. It was all we hoped for and more. Can't wait to return.

Short drive from hotel
Try "The Island Fish Company" restaurant and grill just 3 miles away for great seafood and very reasonable prices in a beautiful setting on the Gulf side. They do breakfast, too.

Not as good as it looks
The beach is full of seaweeds, the air is smelly, the facility is old, there isn't any activity that one can do at the facility. There is a nice beach about 5 miles from the facility, but it requires driving..

Overnight to Key West
This was a pleasant overnight stay on our way to Key West. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with an ocean view. It was very spacious with a kitchen and a washer and dryer, which was very helpful, because we had been travelling for 5 days and needed to repack our cases. The unit was clean. Nice bathroom and powder room, granite countet tops and stainless steel in kitchen. If we wanted to nitpick, maybe a few more lamps and a light fixture over the dining table and some of the lampshades were broken. Although the check-in time was after 3 p.m. we couldn't get into our room until after 5 p.m. bcause they had been so busy the previous evening. Apparently it was mini-lobster season in the Keys. But we would stay there again.

Weekend in Marathon
The rooms were nicely furnished and very roomy. However we all agreed that the rooms were not as clean as we expected therefore we were not comfortable staying there. The pool was ok but the beach area could definitely use improvement.

Nice Beach Location - Priced too High
Our room was a two bedroom two bath motel on the top floor. All rooms had a view of the swimming pool and Atlantic from the large screened-in balcony. The kids enjoyed catching sea life (hermit crabs, etc.) - bring a net. The upgrades were nice in the kitchen and baths with granite countertops, but even with the upgrades, the place felt dated. The bedrooms had not-so-comfortable mattresses with dated looking comforters. One lamp had part of the lampshade torn off. Would have been nice to have paper towels provided in the kitchen. We had two visitors during our one-night stay, a small gecko and a large palmetto bug. Great to have a full kitchen, just be sure to stop by the grocery store before your arrival...Nothing very close. Nice to be so close to the beach, but not sure it was worth the high room rate.

Fantastic Accommodations
The hotel is actually on Grassy Key, which is a few miles (4 or 5) north of Marathon proper, where all of the stores/restaurants are. Grassy Key itself has NOTHING, not even a gas station/convenience store. It's a minor inconvenience, but something to be aware of. The accommodations were spectacular and comfortable--we had two nice bedrooms, spacious living room, two bathrooms, two screened-in terraces, and a modern, large, well-equipped kitchen. Kitchen appliances basically brand-new (including in-door ice-maker in fridge), and with all cooking and eating utensils supplied, make a quick run to the supermarket and you're set. (Oh--there's a washer and dryer too!) The staff is super-friendly and helpful, and believe me, this really added to the enjoyment of our stay. The complex is fairly small (only 18 accommodations, I recall), so if you want the most bang for your buck as far as actual accommodations go, this is a great place to book. Please note though that there's no bar or restaurant, but of course, in The Keys, there's no shortage of these.

Unless you're going to spend the heavy bucks and actually SWIM with the Dolphins, don't waste $20 to visit the Dolphin Research Center. The general admission ticket isn't worth it, and you can see everything there is to see in a half hour.

Great central location, excellent rooms
The location is excellent, the place is quiet and clean. It sits on a beach with a nice dock for fishing and is good for some quick snorkeling. The staff is very nice - we'd absolutely stay here again.

Resort not quite as described
On the whole, this resort was what I expected. I had read reviews that the kitchens were great, and they are. It seems that the owners poured a lot of money into the kitchen and bath re-do, but left everything else alone. The outside of the building badly needed painting, the boardwalk to the beach was peeling and old. We had one lamp in the 2nd bedroom whose shade was completely ripped. There were 5 chairs at the pool, and about 18 on the beach...all cheap, broken plastic. As we did not spend a lot of time at the resort, we did fine, but I feel it was overpriced for what is was.

A highlight of the trip was the discovery of the Marathon public beach...Sombrero Beach. 10 minutes down the road, free, and beautiful. Bathrooms, showers, cabanas for shade...we loved it there!
