Welcome to the quaint seaside village of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea with its famous fishing pier, located at the north-eastern edge of Fort Lauderdale. The European Mediterranean style "bed & breakfast Inn" invites you for a year 'round vacation directly on the beach. The gulf-stream current flowing just off shore ensures convenient temperatures in winter and the tradewinds keep summer averages in the lower 80's (below 30 C). Beautiful Location/ Average Rooms

We booked this place for 3 nights. Prior to booking, we had read the reviews and was not really expecting a lot in terms of the rooms/ amenities. We were initially happy with the size of the room and the comfort of the bed (the bed was very comfy) - however, other amenities in the room were very old and dusty. The bath tub was clogged and the shower curtains had mold and had a nasty smell. The next morning I spoke with the supervisor and they got the bath tub fixed. The location of this motel is awesome..we spent a lot of the day time on the beach - watching the sunrise, sunsets and the horizon everyday made up for the bad amenities. The motel provided free continental breakfast - nothing fancy, but a decent breakfast to start the day. This motel definitely needs an overhaul - the least they can do is make sure the rooms have proper amenities - fresh linen/shower curtains/ good mirrors/ upgrade the TV's (the room had an old CRT TV that did not work properly)/ a proper fan and Air conditioning (that AC was tooooo noisy)/ a plug in room freshner etc. All in all, we were happy with our stay - the location of the hotel made up for the other problems with the room and the state of the hotel.

Do not stay

Let me start by saying I was not expecting a luxury motel. I know that Lauderdale-by-the-sea generally houses older mom and pop type establishments with newer condo/timeshare buildings popping up in between. That being said there is a big difference between old, simple, clean and dirty, rundown, and awful. We checked in on Monday and what they do not tell you (or maybe it was just me) is that your trip is 100% non refundable upon arrival. They do have a sign posted behind the desk but I generally do not look at every sign and announcement posted before I check in. The took a copy of my license and credit card and had me sign a registration form which I have done at large chain hotels as well which do not charge up front. There was no price on this paper nor did I receive a copy of this paper. The outside and the location are very cute but once we stepped into our "hotel room" of the inn we were shocked. We immediately checked the linens to ensure there were no bed bugs (none that we saw) and noticed the sheets were stained. We went to turn on the ceiling fan which had two of three lights burned out and started to shake as if it was going to fall off the ceiling (we immediately turned it off). The safes are all broken, the floor was dirty, the bathroom didn't have a toilet paper holder, the door was stained, peeling, and warped and the walls were paper thin. I was traveling with a child and they were crying that they didn't feel safe in the room, this is unacceptable. The "free breakfast" is an absolute joke. It consisted of prepackaged danishes, mini muffins, slices of toast, sunny d (this is not juice), yogurt, coffee, and dry cereal. The bagels and toast were immediately gone once they were put out and the toasters barely worked. The button of one of them fell off in my hand when I pushed it down. It took 4 of the guests to get the other toaster to work which became comical it was so pathetic. When mentioned to the front desk that the place was awful they acted surprised and then tried to tell me "this was built in the 1950s and is not a fancy hotel." I live in an apartment that was built in the 1940s/1950s I know what old is and there is a big difference between old and awful.

There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and many others nearby. Ocean 101 is very good as well as Kilwins.

Very comfortable - right on the beach

The location is outstanding - nice pool area and right on the beach. Walking distance to market, CVS, restaurants etc. Room was enormous, included a kitchen, everything worked and was very clean. It's a bit shabby - could use an update, but perfectly fine. I would stay there again. One thing - the breakfast not very good. Otherwise, friendly, clean, enjoyed it.

Bad, Bad, Bad.

Dirty and nasty, I have stayed there 4 or five different times over the last 5 years as the location is awesome. I booked for three nights and only stayed 1 night. The furniture was 1960s and you need to find a sheet to sit on anything. Do not dare walk bare footed on the floors in your room. I am sure the comforter on the bed has not been washed in years. The bath towels should be in a work shop or under your sink for those nasty clean ups. Don't get fooled with the breakfest that is included. Trash! no fruit, Frozen milk for your nasty coffee. You can get cold cereal and fake OJ. The propertie was in real rough shape Weeds comming up from pool area, trash as you walk out to the beach, Beach chairs falling apart. If you want the EbeJeebees.. Go for it.

A Little Inn By the Sea, Lauderdale [...]

We were there for 1 night, then off to Key West. After reading other reviews [...] we didn't expect too much. Room was outdated, dirty, ceiling fan had 1/4 inch thick crud on blades. The door jamb looked like the door had been kicked in a few times, so we didn't feel very secure. Several lights were not working in the stairwell, which made it very dangerous at night. Several lights also out on the walkway outside the rooms. In the morning, we went ot the contl. breakfast. Again I wasn't expecting much, but I'm content with a toasted grocery store bagel and O.J. I went to look in a drawer on the buffet for a napkin, and found RAT droppings in the drawer. Of course, I lost my appetite. Maintenance seems non-existent, except for the guy that spent his day talking to the young female desk clerk. Dont stay here unless you're a homeless person. At least it will keep you out of the rain. It's a shame, because the location is ideal. With an ambitious maintenance and cleaning person, this place would be oK,

Planning ahead helps

If you are looking for a place that's RIGHT ON THE BEACH, and not looking for much else, this place is perfect for you. We asked for an updated room and were very happy that we did. Other guests reported to us that the "older" rooms were literally falling apart, but ours was nice. Most of the things in the room worked. There were little things here and there that did not work, but nothing that detracted from our stay. Our main purpose in going on this vacation was to be on the beach, and it was literally steps away from the door of our room. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel is also close enough to so many other things that we were almost sorry we rented a car. We only used it twice the whole time we were there. We walked to the local restaurants, to the grocery store, etc. We went to the grocery store because the hotel had a functional kitchenette that was very convenient for quick meals when we did not go out. It was VERY convenient for breakfast in particular because, although they advertise themselves as a bed and breakfast, the breakfast is essentially nonexistent. The daily menu consisted of a couple of open bags of plain bagels and Wonder Bread (no kidding) lying around in front of a toaster. Sometimes there was coffee, sometimes not. Don't get me wrong, none of the little problems that I'm reporting were important to us, but I know that they're important to others, so you should know what you're getting into. For the price and the location, you can't beat The Little Inn by the Sea. The things that ARE important, like clean sheets, daily maid service, hot and cold running water, were all acceptable. We're not talking about five-star hotel, premiere service here, but it was acceptable. The pool was clean and heated properly. There was a maintenance man, Shawn, who was very eager to please and would do his best to fix any little problems, but he was clearly overwhelmed. The front desk staff, when they were there, were very helpful. The desk is not staffed at all times, so you have to plan around that, but, again, price and location were unbeatable. For a relaxing vacation, if you have low expectations and a sense of humor, The Little Inn by the Sea is your kind of place. You'll meet friendly people and probably come back again. I know we will!

The Village Grille, and its associated bar area, called The Village Pump, provides the friendliest service on the beach. Comparatively quiet, unassuming, and a good variety of beers.

Disgustingly DIRTY!

When we arrived the building itself was in need of upkeep, but I thought it's not too bad...at first. [...] we got to our room...it was so dirty there was a layer of dust about a 1/2 inch thick on the head board, the microwave was dirty and yellow the fridge had rust on it, the light switch did not work, the dirt in the corners of the hotel room and where the floors chnged was disgusting! I must say that I am not usually a super neat/clean freak but this place made me have my first anxiety attack! I spent the first night cleaning the floors with clorox wipes and spraying the sheets with lysol spray (I thought if I cleaned that maybe I could get over it and stay), and then I slept on towels that I knew were clean only because my husband saw them take them out of the wash. The next morning there was supposed to be a continental breakfast...worst I have ever seen...it was a bad of white bread thrown in a bowl..what was worse was the toaster oven that was rusted and the toaster that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in about 10 years..needless to say I walked right out with my family and started to cry this was supposed to be the relaxing part of our vacation! [...] Oh I forgot...that first night when we stayed over, we went out for dinner and came back there was a dead bug on our night stand that was covered in ants...just disgusting and when I cleaned the floor around it, it was obvious that who ever does try to clean only looks at what they see as there was filth behind the bedside table and just beyond where the bed spread reached the ground. The furniture near the pool looks great in the pictures, but the cushions on chairs are so old and faded...the pool area was not cleaned up daily as there were beach chairs there that were so rusted and old that it wouldn't be safe to sit on them! The only nice thing about this hotel was that you walked out of your room and practically fell onto the beach...but the rest was so bad that the beach couldn't make up for it! I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone!!! For the same price you can be on the beach on singer island in riviera beach in a marriott time share that is beautiful and CLEAN!

Experience at Little Inn by the Sea

We know that hotel since 6 years and experienced a steep downturn in quality and service since new ownership and management. This notion was shared by fellow hotel guests. You should stop offering a bad product/service like that and remove it from your website.
