Great for the most part

The hotel room was immaculate, housekeeping was very responsive to minor requests. The location was convenient with frequent transportation to the parks. The food court was small but had good variety. There was a store that sold bottled water, snacks etc that was expensive, but probably no more than any other place in Disney. My only complaint is that the staff did not seem very happy to see their guests and their demeanor was cold. No one smiled or seemed interested in whether their guests were happy. When checking out I was not asked how my stay was, which was surprising.

Dining tip: In Hotel

Apparently you can buy a refillable coffee mug for around $15 for unlimited refills during your stay which may be cheaper than paying $2.50 a cup otherwise depending on how much you drink and how long your stay is. The "salad your way" was a good bargain and very fresh.

Disney January 2012

Stayed at Port Orleans French Quarters at the end of January. This hotel is perfect if you want to an easy route to Downtown Disney. Bus service is okay, it takes time since you have to stop at several locations at the Riverside Resort. Resort is very relaxing, but they are doing construction in the courtyard right now.

Check out the lobby bar and jazz musician they have nightly. Or take a quick walk to riverside and see the piano player.

Couple's get away

Great location, first on and first off buses to/from parks. Place is small enough to easily walk to main building with restaurant/store/guest services area. Would recommend to all travelers.

Flawless vacation

The hotel was very beautiful and serene. We didn't use the pool or hot tub. However, we capitalized on the nice boat service. The food was mediocre but most days I just grabbed a fruit bowl to take to the park. The cafeteria had convenient hours. The Christmas decorations were very beautiful and had a mardi grad theme. The staff was super friendly and always willing to help with a smile. I preferred that this was a smaller resort compared to most of the others, so there was never a huge crowd waiting to get on the bus to go to the parks. Overall this resort exceeded my expectations and I will be returning!

Best Hotel in Disney, A++, Clean and Comfy

My family loved this hotel. They let us check in early (which was great as we had meds that needed to be kept cool in a fridge), we got upgraded for free to a river view which was awesome, and as this was our 3rd time at this hotel, we were pleased to see the renovation. The hotel is newly painted, the rugs in rooms are new/clean, the beds new and comfy, the tvs are flatscreen, etc. The hotel is just like the garden district in New Orleans, with lush foliage, nice shrubs, and fancy fountains and sculptures all over. The place is small, so EVERYTHING is a quick walk (the food court, the bus stop, etc). It is also quiet, so everyone can relax in comfort. The rooms were cleaned to perfection as well. Everything was amazing and we are hoping to stay here again in the future. The hotel is perfect for solo travelers, couples, and families. Many kids enjoyed the pool (fun theme), and the staff gives mardi gras beads to all as they arrive. We ate breakfast in the food court daily and we loved it. Yummy Mickey waffles, juice, coffee, and more. They sell energy drinks, bengiets (french donuts), french toast, yogurt, fruit, eggs, etc. I thought the food was delicious and my partner did too. We would recommend it! So wonderful. You will love this hotel! It is flawless.

Buy the refillable soda/coffee mug at the food court. It saves money because you can fill it as much as you want when in a hotel. Also, take it to the parks and use it for water (mixed with crystal light). Yum!

Disney vacation

Our room was ready when we arrived early and we did not have to wait long to check in. We had a little trouble checking out. My credit card had been charge that morning for the full amount and we were told when checking in that we could do separate credit card charges. It was straightened out late that night and they were very pleasant and accomodating. The food in the food court was great and the pool was excellent. There was a boat connecting the two properties that we used to go to dinner at the other Port Orleans and it was very relaxing and lovely.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Make a reservation for Disney restaurants. The Magic Kingdom is always the busiest on Saturdays all year round. If you are driving, the signs directing you to various locations in Disney are confusing especially at night.

Great location, easy transport

This was a great on-property hotel. We got to enjoy the Extra Magic Hours and the shuttle was very convenient. So convenient that we will definitely stay here instead of the Port Orleans--Riverside next time, as the shuttle stops at Port Orleans--French Quarter first, meaning you get on and might even get a seat. We drove by the Riverside people a couple times and they had to wait for a second bus. Rooms were nice, but not any better than a typical 3 star hotel, but for staying on Disney property, it's a good value and a good, central location.

Amazing!!

We took our kids to Disneyworld and Universal Studios for a job well done this school year. We had so much to keep us entertained at Port Orleans. The kids enjoyed the pool, the arcade, the ferry to Disney downtown and especially the colorful doorkeeper. He and the whole staff were accommodating and very friendly. It would've been perfect if they allowed me to purchase a dining plan when we got there but since I didn't book directly with Disney, I was not allowed to. Overall, we had a great family vacation. Clean, friendly and accommodating- what else could we ask for.
