Stayed during Marathon Weekend
Paying more to stay on Disney property is always worth it to me. Great access to resort transportation, even though there could be a few rooms that have quite a trek to get to it. The property has 3 or 4 bus stops surrounding it, so you should never be too far from on. Employees were great. I had stayed here about 10 years or more ago, and it was nice, but nothing special. It really seems like Disney spends as much time and energy keeping up their "moderate" hotels as they do anything else. It has been remodeled, and the place looked brand new. Definitely would recommend. We only utilized the snack/pastry food options here. I can not speak to the full service/buffet restaurants.

On-site Disney trip / Coronado Springs
Staff at the hotel was great. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are clean, but vey dated. It's like a step back in time to the late 60's. Disney really must upgrade this property; especailly for the high cost of staying on-site. The site is a large complex making it difficult to locate rooms and requires walking. Elevators are located in random areas with some floors reached by separate elevators. This was a family trp and we generally enjoyed the amenities at the hotel. It was just more cost for the value given the dated facilities.

Staying on site gives you the option to enjoy the extra hours in the park. Since it was a busy hoiday week, the ability to enjoy the Disney parks make it worth the added expense to stay on-site.

Walt Disney has a Days Inn
We've now been to WDW 5 times, and stayed at 5 different places. Fort Wilderness, Carribean Beach, Dixie Landings (now Port Orleans), Wilderness Lodge, and now Coronado Springs. By far, Coronado Springs was the worst. When we walked into our room, it felt like walking into an ordinary Days Inn. Nothing wrong with Days Inn, for an overnight stay. But in our 4 previous trips to WDW, there was a "wow" factor when you opened the door to your room. This time, it was a "wow, we could have stayed at Days Inn and saved a bunch of money". The room I would give 2 stars, and the rest of the resort 4. The transportation system is top notch, and they still take pretty good care of the grounds & facilities. It's been 11 years since our previous trip to Disney.....and I would have to say they've lost a step.

Through Disney's transportation system, you basically have access to all the restaurants at all the resorts and all the parks. Take advantage of that and eat elsewhere. The Coronado Springs restaurants are convenient, but very average.

Home Base on a Crazy Disney Vacation
Coronado Springs was a great home base for our busy Disney Vacation. We used Disney transportation and only had difficulties once in our entire week's stay with a late bus. The room was spacious and clean and provided the perfect down time when we needed to rest our feet after walking for miles every day or go for a quick dip in the pool. We did not think the hotel's restaurant's were the best, but we did most of our eating elsewhere so that was okay.

Kouzzina by Cat Cora on the Boardwalk was amazing! Best food we ate. I would rather eat cheap snacks at the park and eat a nice dinner because the park meal food is just good enough that you can't complain, but not really... good.

Fantastic Retreat
Great room - very comfy bed! Choice of multiple pools - all fantastic. Food a bit pricey, but good (it's Disney so everything is pricey!). Plenty of palm trees, warm breezes, and hammocks to make relaxing second nature.

Beautiful resort
it is a beautiful resort with many to offer. They provide free shuttles to/from the airport and disney world theme parks. I was there for a conference. The only thing I complained was that there were not many dinning options. They only offer Mexican style foods.

Not a bad place to stay
The Coronado Springs resort is a decent place to stay. The overall property is clean and well care for. It's a good place to relax. The lakes, outdoor seating, and pools make it so relaxing. Even when conventions are there, it's still a good place to relax. FOOD -Selection offered at the restaurants is decent. Nothing special. -Quality of the food available needs much help. I had nacho, sandwiches, and chicken wings. I found the food to be bland tasting, and really, not appealing. -Pricing. Ouch. Prices for what I received were rather high. I know this is a resort, but $13 for a dozen wings with a sauce poured over them, and blue cheese served in a packet? Adult beverages are also high. On Sundays I found out a happy hour is offered, but you need to ask for it. At the restaurants, a 10% service charge is automatically tagged onto your bill, which is the gratuity. ROOMS -This is the second time I stayed at Coronado Springs. The television station selection is poor. The bathrooms definitely need updating. The bath tub was chipped and had cracks. The finish on the toilet was wore out. Overall, it was a decent place to stay. Would I shy away from staying there? Probably not, but don't expect the best in the rooms.

In summary on the food, there's a refrigerator in your room. If you have a car, go to a store and bring it in. Also, I found room service food prices to be less that if you picked up food at one of the restaurants.
