"Beautiful resort, excellent location"
We stayed at Summer Bay Resorts in one of the 2BD condos to watch our daughter play college softball. The location was perfect, the staff was friendly and eager to please, and the grounds and facilities were beautifully maintained.

Awesome staff, nice resort
I have a lot to say about this resort. 1) I want to thank your staff especially Doug at the VIP desk they are friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to interact with. We got the best service we have ever had at any resort including ones costing much more than yours. 2) I want to thank housekeeping and maintenance for being so prompt and happy to help with even the littlest thing. You also made this a fantastic vacation. 3) No matter what time day or night your staff was fantastic and seemed to be happy to help with anything. I never once heard that's not my job or a complaint. They always went and found someone who could help. 4) Your grounds keepers are exceptional as all the facilities were clean and well maintained. We very much enjoyed tennis, basketball, the main pool and hottub. We didn't make it to the pool at and night life at Big kahunas but we will next time. 5) Yes i said next time. WE WILL BE BACK! Last just thank you for a wonderful vacation, an awesome hotel and the best and friendliest staff we have ever had the pleasure to deal with. This resort is about 15 minutes from Disney, a little farther from Universal and Seaworld but over all the resort was excellent and one of the best stays we ever had. Thank you all, The Dales

Winner, hands down!
I stayed here from 2/26/2012-03/04/2012. I used one of my exchange weeks and had RCI give me a few choice's of places to stay. I choose this one. I didn't pay any money for the room itself, but there are things at the resort that do cost money, reasonably priced. You would never have to leave this resort to have fun. There are so many things to do there. From age 0 to 100 ,something for everyone. Almost every person that I meet that worked there is very friendly. Only the man in the store off lobby was rude.(extremely). They have a security check point that you have to go through to come into the resort. That was very reassuring. I stayed in a 2 bedroom villa, which was very nice. All the places I saw looked to be just as nice or nicer. I will be staying at this resort again. I definitely would recommend this resort to anyone. If you have young kids, they will love the interactive water park. If you're kidless, you can enjoy the tiki bar at one of the pools(heated) or go over to the Big Khauna and enjoy food & drink, along with another heated pool. They have 4 heated pools, 2 are open 24 hours a day.. So much fun. Go check this place out, you will most definitely enjoy yourself. Just another note of info, the resort is located on 192 & just 6 miles from Disney & maybe 10 minutes from all the other parks. There is a lot to do on 192, and it saves you from having to go on interstate 4, or international drive, which is always congested with traffic. Overall just a wonderful place to stay.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
Buy disney items and Florida items at the Disney outlets or discount stores. Same product, just cheaper than buying in the parks.

Room size was good
Location was a little on outskirts of main Orlando attractions but doable. Hotel was nice overall, quality of products was poor though. I will likely stay a little closer to the main areas next time.

Beware of hidden costs!
We stayed for one week at Summer Bay Resort. While there we packed in as many activities as we could so we were only at the hotel basically to make a couple dinners and sleep. We did come back early one evening to swim in the lake, but found that it closes early and we would have had to pay $10 for a life jacket in order to go in anyway. We understand that there is a miniature golf course, but that is additional also. There are several nice swimming pools and the main pool is open all night I believe. Our friends room had a broken shower door and fridge upon arrival and was missing many basic items such as dish rags, dish towels, tea spoons, proper bedding for the pull out, etc. These items were fixed and supplied quickly. Upon checking out I found that I was charged an additional $7 per day for "amenities" such as the pools, basketball court, tennis court, mini golf, lake, etc. What? I thought that was part of the cost of the hotel reservation! Many of those activities cost extra on top of that! They are fixtures, like a sink and a bed. Include it in the darn price! For the extra $57 dollars I could have stayed closer to the parks! (Aha,could that be it?) The rooms were nice and clean. Maybe with the extra $7 per day they get from everyone they can invest in mattress covers and sheets that fit the beds. We had a fantastic week and the resort was a good accommodation, but was disappointed by this sneaky tactic. It was devious!

Don't miss the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. It is quite expensive, but we really enjoyed it!
