Sadly disappointed
I read about this hotel and how it seemed like a wonderful place to stay. I was sadly mistaken. The staff was rude and not helpful there was a line of people and one person behind the desk actually doing any work. When we finally got checked in the elevator was making a horrible sound while one of the house keepers tells us that the elevator has been giving them problems for some time now. the elevator was so slow we often wondered if it was going to make it to the floor. when we opened the door to the room it was neat and tidy. We had no wash cloths and when i called to see if i could have some the lady at the desk huff and puffed the whole time. needless to say we never got out wash cloths. my wife and i seriously thought about leaving and going to another hotel. when we where leaving the next day the hose keepers where throwing the CLEAN seets on the dirty floor by each door then would pick them up and take it in the room. When she went into our room she took our dirty towels and never replaced them . this hotel continued to be a uge disappointment. the pool was dirty and needed skimming and like it needed to be shocked. the only nice person staff wise i encountered was the bartender. I would never stay at this hotel again or reccomend any one to. I have nothing good to say about the staff or the hotels overall presentation.

Rooms are very dirty and need a fresh coat of paint or something, very dirty walls, doors. The couch in the room was dirty, torn and you didn't want to sit on it for the fear of what you may catch! The front desk staff is very friendly but vey unorganized in their jobs as does it seem for housekeeping as well. We had to always ask for towels because they never put any in the rooms and when you would ask they didn't even have any to give to you. The resort fee of $15 a person is a joke! They have nothing for you to use except the pools and most hotels don't charge you a fee for this. Also disappointed in them adding a tip percent to the drinks at the bar. If you are a good bar tender you will get tipped, otherwise you should not tend bar. Won't be reccomending this property to anyone anytime soon.

Very disappointed!
Upon arrival, we were the second people in line and it still took 45 mins to get us checked in. We booked a king bed but there were none available. Only one elevator worked, 1 ice machine (for 5 floors) and our television got very poor reception. The room was clean enough but when I moved the night stand to plug a charger in, there was trash and a lot of dust. Customer service was AWFUL and I was super disappointed to start my vacation that way!

Nice for the price.
Great location off the main highway with many amenities found at more costly hotels. Very friendly staff. The rooms are comfortable, complete with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer & more. Calypso Cay Resort includes a variety of different lodging including 2 hotels, suites, & villas Our stay was in the County Inn with Coffee & tea 24/7 in the lobby & daily breakfast included. Located between the hotels is a wonderful outside area with pools, hot tubs, miniature golf, & tiki bar including a nice light food menu. I personally think that the Country Inn is a bit nicer, but no mater what, it would be difficult to fine better for the money with all that's offered including daily shuttles to the theme parks.

Awful
When we got to our hotel (that we had booked 2 months ago) we were informed that it had been overbooked. They handed us a paper to take to the nearest Holiday Inn, and said that they had booked a room for us there, free of charge. WHen we got to the HOliday Inn, there was no rooms available to us!! We then went back to Buena Vista and they sent us to a THIRD hotel, which FINALLY had a room for us. We were told to call the hotel the next day to see if we had a room available for us that night, and when we did they could not confirm whether they would or wouldnt!

OVERRATED... Self Proclaimed "Resort" Value, But Isn't.
This hotel looks a lot better in pictures and is described a lot fancier then it actually is. Don't let the price fool you either. The "Resort" (as it's believed to be) charges a $15 (extra) per day "Resort Fee" which i'm guessing is for the Overrated Amenities and who knows what else. I had to pay an extra $75 to stay there, on top of what i paid online. They then charged my Card an additional amount at check-in ($80 in my case) as a deposit which is said to be returned after you check-out. You have my Card on file, why charge me a deposit that's gonna take over a week after i leave to get credited back? Assuming they remember to credit you back. Another Issue: Half way through our stay, I woke up to find a mysterious $29.81 charge to my bank account made by the hotel. When i asked about it at the front desk, they had no idea what i was talking about. Despite the fact that i had Wells Fargo on the phone while i spoke to the employee at the front desk and Wells Fargo confirmed the charge was made by the hotel, the hotel still said that no such charge was made. The charge then mysteriously disappeared a day later, SO WATCH OUT FOR THAT. The arcade had 2 pinball machines (only one of which was any good), about 4 other games and an Air Hockey table. The gym had about 4 or 5 machines total. How about the Mini-Golf (you ask)? Well, i only recall seeing about 3 holes near the pools and they were on 7 ft. by 15 ft. greens. They were straight shots and not challenging at all. I didn't pay too much attention to the Mini-Golf (eventhough i love Mini-Golf), so don't quote me on that. The Tiki Bar by the pool was a little over priced for the watered-down drinks i received and gratuity was included to every drink, weither you liked the service or not. My Long Island Iced Tea tasted like Lemonade and not because it was mixed really well. All around, i expected a lot more from this place based on the hotels description, fees and overall money spent. Maybe the second or third time's the charm, but i'm not staying here again to find out.

Giordano's is the best Stuffed Pizza Place in town, we eat there 2 or 3 times per trip. If you want a good Buffet with Crab legs, sushi and other items, then head to a place called Ichiban Buffet. If you're going to be at Universal's Islands of Adventure, then you need to eat at MYTHOS. I recommend the Mythos Bistro Filet, its an excellent dish and the restaurant prices are not bad. Also at Universal & IOA, you can do their all-day Meal Deal which is way worth the money. The Meal Deal is around $25 per day and you can literally eat all day at both parks. For shopping: you can find some really good deals at the Orlando Premium Outlets, there's two of them, so visit both. Also, the Buena Vista Outlet Shops.

Not what I expected
We asked for a king size bed but they ran out &gave us 2full size beds so that was we were uncomfortable on a full size & couldn't sleep together on our getaway. They moved us to another room in "the other building" which was old, ugly & not even called Calypso, it was Country Inn-not what we paid for. We were awakened by light from the curtain not closing &what we thought were landscapers & machines butttt it was our a.c. Soo, we had to move again but we did tell management they did take care of us AND moved us AGAIN hmm
