Florida -- in all its incarnations -- and free shuttles to Disney parks

The Gaylord Palms epitomizes Florida grandeur. The sprawling resort pays homage to the various regions of the state, from breezy Key West to old-world St. Augustine. Four and a half acres of themed experiences under glass walk guests through theme park-like exhibits filled with lush foliage and architecture that capture the identity of the featured area. Rooms complement the style of each wing. Amenities tend to every need, whether it is scheduled transportation to Walt Disney World or babysitting services.

Highlights
  • Four and a half acres of themed experiences to showcase the regional architecture of Florida
  • Six restaurants and lounges
  • Clearwater Cove, which features a zero-entry pool, octopus water slide and sand play area
  • Relache Spa with salon and fitness center
  • Scheduled shuttle service to Disney theme parks
Rooms

Lining the perimeter of four themed atriums, the 1,406 rooms of the Gaylord Palms are designed to mimic Key West, the Everglades, St. Augustine and Emerald Bay. Spaces wow with striped cabana fabrics, Spanish and Mission-style furniture and rich woods. Amenities aim for extra pampering, from glass-enclosed, walk-in showers to lighted magnifying makeup and shaving mirrors. Balconies encourage guests to take in the circus-like views below.

Features

If the massive boat "docked" in the Key West Atrium does not grab the attention of Gaylord Palms guests, then the live alligator feedings and oversized octopus fountain in Clearwater Cove will. Relache Spa, a 20,000-square-foot oasis, pampers visitors from head to toe with an extensive menu of massages, facials, body treatments and nail and hair services. The spa is also home to a 4,000-square-foot fitness center equipped with cardiovascular machines and Smith Press System.

Great one night stay

We decided on an overnight getaway to Orlando and decided on the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center and could not have made a better decision! The hotel was b=very nice and offered a great variety of restaurants inside the hotel. The room we stayed at was very clean and the people from the front desk to the housekeeping personnel were very polite and willing to help. Our kids had a great time at the water park and pool. We decided to have dinner at one of the restaurants which was a buffet and enjoyed wonderful service and delicious food with a variety of dishes that satisfied all of our tastes. It was a very relaxing experience. The only downside was the parking. We had to go around the whole parking lot to get a space. But over-all we will not hesitate to go back and stay longer!

No regrets here.

Beautiful hotel and room. The kids loved exploring. Long chcek in line, but was upgraded for free at the front desk. Kid pool was amazing and I am stiil trying to recreate their margaritas. Parents booked at a Disney resort and it was definitely not as nice or roomy and much more expensive. Beware of breakfast options, either a $30 per person breakfast buffet or crazy busy, but slightly less overpriced coffee cafe.

Amazing stay, worth every penny.

Beautiful and large room. Friendly and down to earth staff. Only single complaint was the $25 per person breakfast buffet. Ridiculous. Pools were amazing , and cocktail staff was on pointe. Hotel is freaking gorgeous.

Great for family!

The hotel is really one of the most beautiful ones that I have been in. The indoor garden/jungle design with waterfalls is amazing. The pool is great for kids of all ages. The only downside was that the floor in our room was not cleaned well after the previous guest and there were some pills on the floor - this was especially worrisome as we were travelling with a 9 month old. However once we notified the hotel they came up and vacuumed the room again.

Gaylord Palms spares no expense... but we pay for it.

This hotel is the largest and most beautifully designed and decorated resort I've ever stayed at. While walking through the lagoons and makeshift forests it's easy to forget that you're in an indoor, climate-controlled atrium. The attention to detail and the sheer creativity of the artists who built this hotel is mind-boggling. It's no wonder that most of the people walking around the complex and any given time are simply visitors not staying overnight. We stayed just 1 night with my wife and baby. I must say that I was impressed with the amenities available. You really don't have to venture out of the hotel. There are shops of all kinds and a variety of restaurants to choose from. The only downside to all this convenience is the cost. The rooms are a bit pricey already, but the food is where the big bucks are spent. Out of the handful of restaurants in the hotel it is quite difficult to find one that will serve an entree for under $35. So families with more than 2 children should expect to pay a minimum of $100 per meal. We ate at the buffet restaurant which had awesome food and delicious sangria. It was $34 pp. During our stay, they had the ICE exhibit which was interesting. It is several rooms of ice sculptures and then a slide. It was nice experiencing the 9 degree climate and dressing like an Eskimo for 10 minutes but the $27 per-person charge was a bit ridiculous. It seemed like most of the people left the ICE exhibit scratching their heads as to where their money just went. Anyways, I don't mean to be a mister complainy-pants about this place because we really did enjoy ourselves. So if you want to have a good time at a one-stop shop and you happened to be a member of the 1% of the population then this is the place for you.
