Because the gardens are extensive and because there is no lifeguard, children under age 12 are not allowed. Otherwise, Westwinds encourages families. As a classical community inn, Westwinds hosts musicians, and singers. Westwinds Inn is an enchanting, tranquil compound in the heart of Key Wests Old Town and is situated in the Historic Seaport District just two blocks from the waterfront, four blocks from Duval Street and steps away from many shops, restaurants, historic sights, and famous sunsets. Come relax among stately plams, banana stalks, and Spanish lime trees. Enjoy fragrant flowering jasmine, mariposa and hibiscus blooms. Westwinds is your soothing, tropical getaway with grounds that include two pools, large sunbathing areas and shady alcoves tucked away in luxuraiant foliage.

Nice place to stay in Key West

This place was very nice. The room was small but perfect for our needs. It was far enough away from the heart of Duval that we had some peace and quiet but a quick walk to the waterfront and Duval St. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly and the grounds were beautiful. I would definitely stay here again!

Anniversary weekend

This was a very nice, charming B&B in Old Town Key West. Very close to the seaport district where there are a great restaurants and shopping. A nice walk to Duval St where the action is. Room was a tad small, but overall clean. Continental breakfast was very good and the layout next to the pool with the palm trees was very tropical.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

Short walk from inn to marina district, use harbor walk to cut across marina, and enter Duval St from behind the strip.

Do not use the pedicabs in town, they are very expensive and you can call a regular cab for about half the price.Found out the hard way when we utilized one and went about 7 short blocks and were charged $22.00. While in Key west eat at B.O.s fish shack on Carolina street, very good prices anf great food.Another great place to eat is Schooner Warf right on the boardwalk, try their carribean spice schooner wings.

A nice getaway.

A wonderful place to stay for couples. This renovated old Key West home was a great place to stay just minutes from Duval Street. The pools are beautiful, and surrounded by beautiful lush gardens giving the property a very tropical feel. The breakfast by the pool was nice every morning. We will definitely stay here again when we come back! No kids made the visit romantic and quiet. The room itself was small, but was cleaned everyday by the staff and was well maintained and smelled nice. Don't pass this place up!

Eaton Bikes (one block away to the West) rents beachcruisers for $18 the first day, and $10 for subsequent days during you stay. The staff there is extremely friendly. Once you find a place to park on the street (screw that $13 a day for the public lot) just make your way over there and rent a couple of bikes for your stay... it's well worth it and much easier to get around Key West than driving.

Great accomodations and location

Our check-in was very efficient and the room was great! The location, just off the north end of Duval St. was perfect for what we like to do while we're in Key West. The Inn was very private and a nice getaway from the action when we wanted to relax too! We will definitly stay there again!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

My mom and I took the Key West Express from Ft Myers last week for an overnight stay in Key West. Neither she or I had ever stayed at a B&B and were a bit intimidated of the "not knowing". Our stay could not have been any better. It was only a short, five block walk from the marina to the hotel. Once we arrived, we were surprised to hear we were upgraded to a queen suite w/ a porch. Our suite was clean and equipped like a mini apartment. Before we unpacked, we walked the hotel grounds. There were two pools, one heated, and several common areas (indoor and out). The FL landscaping made the grounds quiet and relaxing. Our walk to Duvall Street was less than six blocks. If I had any questions, the front desk was equipped w/ maps and recommendations. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of staying here do so, and I will definately make the trip again myself!

Couldn't ask for more

The calm tropical garden setting of the hotel completes the rest of the adventure in Key West. Although the room was nothing special the hotel is a great place to relax before and after a day of sightseeing. Can't say that about any other place we've ever stayed. Although there are a few parking places at the hotel, parking remains a problem. However we could find parking within a short walk of the hotel. The Westwinds Inn is also within walking distance to many of the sights we wanted to see. A great place to stay and when we return we will not bother looking any further than the Westwinds Inn.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

For anyone going to Key West for the first time I'd recommend a sightseeing tour on the Conch Train. Nice tour and gives you a chance to see what's on the island. Then you can return for a longer visit after the tour. We'll also consider renting a bicycle or scooter next time. Easier to get around town than in the car.

A peaceful oasis

Very peaceful setting! The room was clean and staff was very nice. Parking is nearly non-existent though; had to park two blocks away in the public parking building. I purchased a two day parking pass from the hotel and this did make things much easier when taking the car to the beach or driving around town. The bathroom was tiny! Both pools were very well located; very private thanks to the tall trees in the tropical garden setting. The hotel was a bit farther away from Duval Street than I had thought. The Key West heat did not let down (even at 3:00 a.m), so it was a very tiresome experience walking to Duval Street and back from the hotel. My recommendation would be to either rent a scooter or bicycle while staying at this hotel. Overall I was quite pleased with this hotel. Not only would I recommend it, I would also stay there again.
