Disappointed in Key West
Did not receive room choice
We booked an oceanfront room. However, when we arrived we were given a parking lot view room. We were very disappointed. We were looking forward to a peaceful relaxing getaway with the ocean sounds at our balcony-----didn't happen! The staff should be more accomodating to their guests.

Mis-leading Marketing
Unfortunately what you see is what you DONT GET . do NOT use their website as a guideline , the pool they advertise -where is that !! Looks nothing like the pool they use on the advertising blurb , we also paid for an ocean view - UNLESS you secure first floor room , its not worth the additional money ( and it aint cheap!!) - our view was a wall ( not happy) when we brougt this to the attention of the management , not interested , would not move us , only offered as an upgrade at a discounted rate of $300 surplus for the 3 nights we were staying .. No thanks !!! Never met such disinterested staff in terms of delivering a quality service - we wish we had stayed elsewhere for the money we paid £750!!! so so so disappointed !

Good bang for buck
The hotel was really nice and close to Duval St. Lunch was good but dinner left a little to be desired. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly.

Great beach location
The Southernmost on the Beach was much nicer than some reviews led me to believe. They criticized the motel-like atmosphere. The only thing motel-like about it was the outside-facing doors. Otherwise, it had the normal full-service hotel amenities that you would expect. Pluses The interior of the room was very nice. The hotel and maid service was good. The rooms were quiet. The nearby beach (and beach chairs) were a big plus and the beach restaurant was very convenient. It was at the quiet end of Duval, away from the partying. Bit of a hike to the other end the the street but there are some nice, quiet bars and restaurants on this end too. Minuses The service at the restaurant was a mixed bag. There wasn't quite enough parking when the hotel was full and we had to use an overflow lot one day.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
We liked the Rum Runner bar. It's just a few blocks up on Duval. The bartender there mixes a mean, and intresting, drink.

Nice Seclusion and View
The Southernmost on the Beach hotel was very nice. Location was the best aspect followed by the private small beach and pier. The hotel is more of a motel with entry to rooms from the outside. This meant that with the shades of the window open to view the ocean, other guests walk by and in some cases look inside. The staff was very nice and helpful. The small private beach with adirondack chairs was excellent as was the nice pier. The restaurant was very good for breakfast. We didn't eat their other than that. The Southernmost area of Key West is a little quieter than the northernmost area of Duvall St. The cruise ships come in on the north end. Construction of a new hotel or condo is going on right next door to this hotel. The mornings were filled with hammer and saw sounds from the contruction. We had a really great time at Southernmost though.

Beautiful location
We mostly relaxed on the beach and went in the pool a ton. The staff at the bar was super friendly and enjoyable to socialize with. Be sure to bring a high SPF lotion if you go there in the summer, as it gets SUPER hot in the sun and it's easy for one to burn.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
A good idea to take a cab to Sunset Pier and then walk along Duval Street all the way back to the hotel, all while hitting up different bars and shops and grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants!
