A wonderful winter vacation

Our first in Key West and we WILL go back and stay at Southernmost again. The trip was incredible from start to finish. The staff was very kind when we checked in even though our flight got us into town almost three hours before check-in. We left our bags at the front desk and walked down Duval street. Our first incredible find was a small outside restaurant and bar called Blue Heaven that had live music at lunch on a Monday. The restaurant at the hotel as well as the poolside bar were both very nice and easily accessible. Although there is no natural beach the small man-made area was just enough for the amount of guests and offered a refreshing dip while getting an incredible tan. The room was quiet even in such a large building and the cleaning service very friendly. While a few dollars more pricey than our budget had allowed the stay in the Ocean front room on the South end of Duval St. made it completely worth it.

Great hotel and location!

We wanted the "Key West" experience and got it. The first day we rented bikes at the hotel for a low $10 each and explored from one end of Key West to the other, taking in all the views along the way, touring ships at Fort Zachary, and finally partaking in the sunset celebration at Mallory Square. We got the best pictures! It is so easy to get around the area which by the way has some fantastic restaurants. We tried Abbondanzas (Italian cuisine)and Duffy's Steak and Lobster House. Ask the concierge about restaurants, she'll hook you up with coupons good for free desert or bottle of wine with meal...etc. If you like anything to do with the water or outdoors you won't be bored. Again, the concierge will hook you up. The room was exquisite with a comfortable king size bed, very clean, sunny, and modern. And when we just wanted to wind down, there was entertainment and a bar at the pool for all to enjoy.

Beautiful Location

We were only in Key West for 5 days so we wanted someplace near the beach with a pool. The surroundings were very nice. The staff was enthusiastic and friendly. The rooms were tastefully decorated with balconies. The hotel was quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The only bad thing that happened was we got locked out of our room at night and maintenance had to replace the whole door handle/lock and even then we had problems with the key-card. On the plus side, we had to check out at 11:00am and our flight wasn't until 5:00. The hotel stored our luggage and we were free to use the pools, etc.

There is a restaurant in the hotel but if you want to experience Key West, definitely walk around. There is a very authentic Cuban fastfood outdoor restaurant right across from the hotel.

Really enjoyed this hotel

I took my two daughters to Key West to see their mother when her ship pulled for the Fouth of July weekend. We all had a great time. The pool at the hotel was great. The girls loved swimming day and night. My wife and I enjoyed the large variety of drinks from the poolside bar. The food at the pool was good also. The pool is right next to a beach with resturant. We could alternate from swimming in the pool or the ocean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My wife and daughter took a snorkling class offered by the hotel and really enjoyed it. They got to learn the basics in the pool and then snokel from the hotel pier and see real marine life. The hotel is at the southern end of Duval street so it is a good walk to attractions at the northern end of Duval. But we were able to walk the length with minimal complaints from the girls (and it was very hot when we were there). Overall, we had a great time!

We enjoyed the glass bottom boat trip to the reefs. It was a great way for the girls to see the reefs and marine life. They had a person that explained the reef ecosystem while at the reef. Plus, we enjoyed the boat ride.

Lovely Key West gem

The hotel was a nice location. It was within walking distance to Duval but located in a quiet area. It did nooset have a crowded and rowdy 'party' feel like some hotels in Key West can. Southernmost offered a little of everything, a lovely tanning pier and many sandy areas with lounge chairs and hammocks. For those who want a little more excitement the pool with tiki bar always had fun things going on. The staff were all very friendly and were always there to answer questions and give good advice about things to do. The only thing I wish they had was a continental breakfast provided. Key West restaurants can get kind of pricey and a little something in the morning would have been nice.

Awesome Vacation!!!

We had a blast! This has been the best trip I have ever went on so far. We did lots of things, we went on a champagne sunset sail and went snorkeling, ate at lots of good restaurants, went to the aquarium, rented a scooter for a day and just walked up and down the main street which is Duval St and went shopping. We relaxed all day on the beach or by the gorgeous pool. We loved it and would definetely go back :)

Best Place We've Ever Stayed!

We stayed at southernmost for our honeymoon. We had originally been placed in a room in one of the back buildings, but when we checked in, we decided that you only do this once, so we asked if there were any better rooms available. The front desk was very accomdating and got us into a room up near the beach. Boy, was it a good decision. We had an upper floor with a balcony that overlooked the ocean. Great view! Cleaning staff did an excellent job. Room was very clean every day. Room was in excellent condition. Very little noise from upstairs. Not much more we could have asked for!

Great stay beautiful area

We stayed at this hotel based on reviews I had read. We were not disappointed, the hotel was beautiful and the staff was very helpful. Especially, [...] the concierge and [...] the doorman. [...] arranged everything for us and was gracious and friendly. The room was beautifully appointed and spacious. The only down side was the balcony looked onto every other balcony leaving no privacy. I was aware of this when I booked the hotel. Love the location it was quiet but really not far from everything. I suggest a bike or when we became over whelmed with the heat we caled the Pink Cabs they were fast and courteous. Also, if you like history or want to see something besides Duval St. Go to the Dry Tortugas on the Yankee Freedom, [...] gives a great history lesson and is obivously very passionate about this place. You can also snorkel there and see amazing coral and fish. Be prepared to spend money the food there is good and expensive.

Get off Duval St. and take a boat ride. Enjoy the natural life in Key West and not just the nightlife. The water is bluier here than I seen every before.
