Good location & clean

The hotel is located one block from Duval street, directly across from Hemingway's house. It was quiet and although not the newest furnishing it was clean. The location is within walking distance to all the shops and bars on Duval street. The staff was polite. The only issue is parking. They state limited parking but that is an understatement. You better hope to find a space on the street otherwise parking areas run approximately $15 - $30 daily. We would stay at this hotel again.

wonderful!

Staff was so nice and helpful and the location is the best, you can walk to everything. Our room had its own private porch overlooking the Ernest Hemmingway house and the street. We liked it so much we ended up staying 3 extra days at one of their other Inn's in town which was also great.

Haven by Hemingway

This hotel was perfect for a romantic getaway or a family reunion or group of people - since there are so many rooms, with the pool at the center. Hemingway House across the street and a lighthouse are great tours. It was close to Blue Heaven, formerly the location of a boxing rink that Hemingway was involved in, and which has a wonderfully secluded-garden restaurant setting. Also the Lighthouse Court Hotel had free breakfast by the pool. The Southernmost Beach, a public beach is within walking distance, has plenty of chaise lounge rentals, and an open air bar and restaurant. Duval street, great for window-shopping, people watching and the occasional parade ala New Orleans; the Truman White House, Federal Building housing exhibitions, and Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Museum are not too far a walk. Yet this hotel is in a quiet neighborhood.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If you take the trolley tour directly off the boat - like we did, you'll get the lay of the land. The day boat trip to the Dry Tortugas for a fort tour, snorkeling or bird watching was a worth it, especially since this hotel is located near the boats at the southernmost section.

The Keys

The Good: Friendly, helpful staff. We were able to check-in a couple hours early. Location was great. The Bad: A little old and rundown... rooms looked liked they tried to update but not a good job. Carpet appeared to have fresh stains... very disgusting considering what substance could have been (bodily fluids). Shower only got luke warm. Very pricey... I have stayed in much nicer hotels for as little as $79... here I paid $223. Understand this had to do with location, but hotel was somewhat old and rundown (although historic looking).
