Good location but rather sad beach area

Recent 5 night stay. Great bar staff but front desk staff was not Marriot Quality (exception Dan was fantastic). We had to call many times for towels, etc. Front desk kept putting us on hold, said they were sending towels up personally. 3 phone calls later? Still no towels. Went to desk was told, they were bringing them up. 30 mins later we used our beach towels to bathe --still no towels. Silliness. Bed was fabulous, food was mediocre on site. Pool was pretty & clean. Location was perfect for us. Anna at the tiki bar was great! ;)

Nice Place to Relax

Overall we had a great experience! The grounds are beautiful and there are some really incredible restaurants just minutes away for a good price (Hobo's and Sushi Nami). The restaurant at the hotel was good, but overpriced. Nice Staff. The beach wasn't good. We didn't go in the water but it's nice to look at and there are great places to sit and the pool makes up for it! The room was nice. Only complaint was our toilet got clogged one night and our At your Service button didn't work, so the next day we went down to the desk at 9am and it still didn't get fixed until around 2pm. That's a long time without a bathroom.

Sushi Nami is a hidden gem! It doesn't look like much but they have incredible Japanese food! Everything is so fresh. A lot of sushi rolls come with 10 or 11 pieces and it's cheap!

Nice family experience

We rented a suite for the family to go with an elderly member who has mobility problems. Location was good ( easy access many places) but was not as handicap accessible as I would have hoped given that I requested a handicap room. Beds were quite high, no bar in shower and needed to step up and in on a slightly slippery service. Room was lovely, kitchen very nice but wasn't cleaned first day until we asked after having been out all day. Staff friendly.

Good getaway

Key Largo Bay Marriott was a lovely hotel on the beach in Key Largo. The staff was friendly, helpful and competent. The room we had overlooked the beach and bay, was renovated and comfortable. It was just right for the 2 day getaway we were looking for.

Disappointed ...

We where surprised Marriott has it's brand associated with this old and ugly property, if you must visit, no matter what do don't eat on the restaurant, just bad food . Don't let the picture of this property fool you, there are much better hotels around.

Perfect for a weekend

The hotel was better than what I was expecting (for Key Largo); the room charge is a little bit high for the quality of the room, but in general is a good location

Had a fabulous time

Spent 4 nights mid-October with my wife. Very quiet, some random vacationers and two smallish business groups. Upon checkin, we were immediately upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen and bay view balcony. Barely had a chance to say hello! Wonderful space in the room to spread out, and a very good supermarket 1 mile up the road to stock that kitchen was nice! The resort has a long waterfront on the bay, some private beach and the rest marina. The beach has some weeds and rocks but the water is very pleasant (82 degrees). Nice pool with hot tub and tiki bar, plus great fluffy pool towels. The dive shop books many activities, all serviced entirely by the resort. We took a 1/2 day snorkel trip to Molasses Reef, perfect weather, great crew, great location for snorkeling, free diving and scuba. The crew of the Sea Star was excellent. Also rented a 2 person canoe and paddled around the area for a while. Try it! Easy for any reasonably fit person, many interesting things to see from a new perspective. The bar had a happy hour with some drink specials that were cheaper than around home, sunset view, good food. Not to be a broken record, but the drinks, food, and service were all great. One night went next door to Senor Frijole's Mexican Restaurant. Chris took great care of us at the bar with nice drinks and all you can eat tacos, enough said. Rolled out of there for a very reasonable cost and about ten pounds heavier. Obviously your mileage may vary, but our stay was wonderful.

No smoking property

Overall this is a very nice spacious property with a nice pool and private beach. The problem I had was it was not clear to me at the time of booking that this is a no smoking resort. I can understand the rooms, hallways, and pool deck, but on the beach not near anyone? If I would have known in advance I would not have booked the rooms. Additionally the room A/C did not function correctly and the hotel maintenance could not get it fixed. There was no offer to move me to another room and since I was leaving in the morning I sweated it out. I understand the resort has been sold to a new owner and hopefully they will invest a few dollars into upgrading the property and make a smoking area for the guests.

Good hotel

A great place to stay on Key Largo - good location for the John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park and access to the rest of the Keys. The pool and beach were lovely (although it's a shame the beach wasn't a bit bigger). The room was clean and comfy, but the beds were incredibly high - not a problem for us, but could be for some people. We had a meal at Gus's Grill - the staff were great and the meal was fantastic. We didn't use the onsite jet ski hire, etc as we found better deals offsite.
