Week in Florida for family visit
The location of this hotel is was great for us - on the beautiful Jacksonville Beach shore, and near our family member's apartment. The area is very nice and near restaurants and other shops. We felt safe walking or driving at any time of day or night. The hotel itself was just average, and could use some maintenance: missing molding in the elevator should be a high-priority fix. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was good, with a variety of hot and cold foods, including juices and fruit. The 'city-view' room actually faces North (not West), so the ocean and beach are visible, along with the next hotel. I don't know if the south-facing 'pool-view' room would be worth the extra cost. We stayed for 5 nights, and therefore picked this lower-priced hotel; I think we got our money's worth.

Quick Beach Get Away
For a quick getaway, this was perfect. The pool area was gorgeous, and the beach and ocean just out the back door couldn't be beat! The hotel is definitely showing its age - worn, dirty carpet in front of the bathroom door and stains in other places, strange noises from the plumbing all night long, very slow and very creaky elevators (the 2 that were working, that is), and there was some bizarre large light switch looking thing in my room that had been painted over a couple dozen times. But the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was plentiful -- but exactly the same offerings every day. When I asked if they would be offering bacon instead of sausage any mornings, I was told that sausage was offered instead of bacon because bacon was too expensive (!).

Good for the price.
For the price, you cant beat it. Beautiful pool and ocean view. The tikki bar was closed on Sunday our first day. We were really disappointed about that. They blamed it on short of staff. Other than that I really liked the place.

Beach getaway
I always enjoy staying at this hotel. While it does need renovation work (and I hear that is going to be taking place in the near-future), the staff is always nice, and the experience wonderful. It couldn't be in a more perfect location!

Business Trip
Room was clean. Bed was very nice. Couch was dated, not too comfortable (probably circa late '80s). TV was an old CRT tube TV, 19". Not flat panel. WiFi Internet works well. Nice balcony facing beach, however balcony chairs are so low and balcony railing is so high that you actually can't see out if your seated. AC unit very effective, but in "ECO SAVER" mode which turns off fan when not cooling, so there is a lot of on/off noise from the fan starting/stopping. (I'm handy, so I found the maintenacne manual online, opened up the units access panel and turned off ECO SAVER via dipswitch on the unit's motherboard!) Drain in sink did not drain properly. Shower very powerful, plenty of pressure. Shower walls needed a better scrubbing and new caulk. Awesoume pool and hot-tub/spa. Kids will LOVE it. Tiki bar on beach is functional, but pretty run down. Nice indoor bar off lobby with flat panels, but was always closed. Why have it? Great breakfast included. Good for traveling with family, kids. Excellent beach access. Probably not the best for a "business" traveller -- stay next door at the Courtyard Mariott for $20 more per night.

Great girls get away
We were in Jacksonville visiting another sister and to get some beach time. The beach was just steps away thru the pool area, easy access. Resturants a short drive, Hotel staff gave great reccomendations. The Grill located close to pool area served great sandwiches along with beer. Breakfast had a good selection of choices. Then there is the Tiki Bar on the way to the beach.

Salt Life Food Shack on N.3rd St. was reccomended by hotel staff and was very good. We ate at a place called Crazy Fish which was an interesting place on the river, tricky to find, very good food. My Sister took us there.

Very Nice Staff, Enjoyed the Stay!
Staff were very friendly, namely [...] at breakfast and [...] at the Tiki Bar. Both always had nice things to say and were very personable. The room was nice, but there were some stains on the carpet between the double beds (appeared to be old gum or something). The pool was amazing, and had quick and easy access to the bathrooms, Tiki Bar, and the beach. Good location - several nice bars a few blocks down the street, and delicious Five Guys burgers about 6-7 blocks to the south. Hotel was packed because of a wedding and The Players Championship, which messed up chances of getting a room upgrade.

Nightlife tip:
Long walk from hotel
There isn't too much North of the hotel - head down First Street toward the south to get to some decent bars (Brix Taphouse has an excellent selection of beer, but the servers aren't too bright or friendly. The Irish Pub is great. Five Guys has delicious and very affordable food)
