Low rates near artsy San Marco and business in Southbank
The Super 8 Jacksonville Downtown Area is a no-frills hotel in Central Jacksonville just a few minutes to downtown and Southbank businesses. Wireless Internet access and a free continental breakfast buffet are included. Guests are welcome to use the outdoor swimming pool at the adjoining hotel. The historic and trendy San Marco neighborhood is a short walk away. On the Square in San Marco, take a seat in artsy cafes, browse independently-owned boutiques, stroll the galleries or go to the theater.

the room was dirty. towels were to small.

From the broken faucet to the bathroom door that would not close the floor needed vacuumed and the overall condition of the room with poor

Didn't like it at all

Room wasn't any neat. The other guests were kind of creepy. Though close to downtown, as I preferred, and even for a 1-night stay, I'd rather plan not to book anything at such a cheap place in the future.

good for a night

I really like the location and price of this hotel and I really like that they have a microwave and mini-fridge for travelers. The towels and sheets aren't very clean, but if you need a cheap place to stay for a night or two it's great.

Decent cheap motel

Needed to do more research.

The Super 8 was more or less what I expected from a Super 8 - basic, comfortable, no frills. I wish I'd done a little more research regarding the exact location of this Super 8 (there are several throughout Jacksonville) since it was closer to the city than I'd have liked and further from my areas of interest. A simple Google search would have worked in my favor. The staff were all friendly and helpful, from the desk to housekeeping. When I arrived at 11p, it took 3 rooms before the desk clerk was able to find one without a problem - but he was quite courteous throughout and apologized multiple times.

A word to the wise (which I wasn't), if anyone is visiting - Jacksonville seems to shut down their delivery services by 10 - 11, dependant upon where you're located, so if you get in late, make sure you either have some food to cook in the microwave or stop at a restaurant and get some to-go before settling in for the night.

You Get What You Pay For

The hotel room was dingy and the floors needed cleaning. My husband was told that the floors were cleaned once every 3 months and it was time for a cleaning. BUT THE WORST - My husband's daughter asked for him at the front desk. The clerk told her, "...well since you know his full name..." and gave my stepdaughter the key to his room (something she had not asked for).

OK for a short stay

The room was clean and average in my experience. The main complaint I had was with the bathroom. It had a strong musty odor which I assume was originating from the rubber mat in the bathtub. It had apparently not been removed for cleaning underneath for some time. When I lifted it, it had a gummy substance adhering it to the tub. I would not have taken a bath in the tub, only showered. Also the security chain on the outside door was broken, but the deadbolt was sufficient. Desk service was friendly and helpful.

Short walk from CT1 bus stop, but finding a bus schedule for that line was impossible. Had to call JTA to find out times I needed.
