BEST WESTERN Southside Hotel & Suites

This was without a doubt the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. The A/C did not work--it stayed around 80 degrees at all times. The phone did not work. The room smelled of cig smoke although is was suppose to be non smoking.

Our overnight stay started with a not so friendly clerk checking us in. We then proceeded to go to our room where peanuts and M & M's were found on the carpet floor. The bathroom did not have enough towels for four people, therefore I went down to the service desk and asked for more towels only to be told that they were being washed and I would get them later, better than getting no towels or dirty ones I guess. To top things off we had a visitor, Mr. Cockroach, came a calling during the night. My daughter was so distraught that she hardly slept a wink, and was pondering on sleeping in our vehicle. I told the morning clerk of our little adventures and received nothing else from the hotel not even a phone call to acknowledge my stay.

We were there for 2 nights visiting relatives. The first night the air conditioning was too warm and the manager came and fixed it. Then the next day the air conditioning was too cold. Other than that, everything else was ok.

The hotel was fine. I was visiting my daughter for the holidays and it was close range to her house. The neighborhood felt safe. I'm a smoker, and I was comfortable going outside to smoke in my lounging clothes. The breakfast was not to bad, staff were really nice and helpful if I needed anything. I would stay there again. Close range to stores and resturants, without having to get on the interstate. ( i hate the traffic)

We were in Jacksonville to attend a family wedding. We arrived on Friday, Oct. 9, at about 3:00 pm. We were given a room with a double bed. We had paid for a queen bed. When we called the front desk, they were very accomodating and moved us to a different room. Saturday we were ready to leave for the wedding at around noon. We did not return to our room until about 7:00pm. When we opened the door we couldn't believe it, our room had not been touched. We called to front desk and were told that it was marked as having been cleaned. The desk attendent did not care if it was clean or not. I said we will at least need clean towels for tomorrow morning and the attendent said then come down and get them. When I went to get the towels, he was reading a book and didn't even ask if there was anything else. We went back down to get a bag for the ice bucket and all he had was a big plastic bag for trash. We reported it again this morning before leaving and the gentlemen at the desk this morning apoligized and said it would be reported to the owner and manager. We also reported that there was not any hot water in the sink and he said it was supposed to be fixed. We feel there should be some kind of compensation for the inconvenience and lack of service.

Too much noise. Had to call the front desk around 11pm. It continued. The pool was small. Thought there was a hot tub, but never saw one. Room clean. Staff nice. Breakfast good.

We've stayed at this hotel before & it has always been a good experience.

I booked this hotel to study in peace and quiet for my state exam. It provided the privacy that i needed. It was also in a convienent location to my testing facility.

Not impressed...old, somewhat rundown hotel. Breakfast was provided but eggs were cols both mornings.

This was a nice hotel overall. We booked for one night and asked the person up front if I wanted to stay for another night if I should book through Orbi**or the rate or if I could get it through the hotel. He said I could book through them. I did this the second night. The third morning I got up an the manager was there. I asked to book a third night and he proceeded to charge me $40 more than I had paid the night before. I told him that the person who was there the day before told me I could get the same rate I paid through orbi** if I continued to stay from the hotel. He said well I'm the manager and that's not right I'm not losing money by going you that rate again. I said so you would rather not book this room than give it to me for the price that his associate quoted me and he said yes. I was happy with the room but this really upset me as I was on town for one more day visiting family. I made the most of it and went Down to St. Augustine.
