Nice, Relaxing getaway

The room was nice and clean. I liked the bike riding around resort. We dined at the Italian restaurant and the food was delicious. I would have liked to dine at the Oceanfront restaurant but they did not have enough seafood or non meat options. My only complaint was there was only one covered umbrella on the beach and it was taken. Overall, we had a nice relaxing time and would go back.

Beautiful, tropical place to stay in the land of sportfishing!

I think the Cheeca Lodge really rates closer to five stars than four. If you don't know Islamorada, it is a laid back part of the Florida Keys, very well known for the Everglades and incredible sportfishing. We were amazed when we drove through the gates, the grounds are exotic and beautifully maintained. We stayed for five days, two days we were mostly out fishing with a guide in the Everglades, who warned us this was the "slow season" (August). Someone forgot to tell the fish. My arms are still tired from the snooks (gigantic ones) and redfish jumping and fighting. Fishing was so much fun and we landed dozens of memorable fish, then let them go! The weather was brutally hot, but we were extremely comfortable in our lovely Cheeca room with lagoon views, and delighted in our little screened in porch. The adult pool was the place for us, very relaxing and mellow. Drinks of the day are worth a try, such as the delectable blackberry margarita, yummy! Our favorite restaurant at the resort is Limoncello. We are fussy Italian food eaters. I am Italian and come from a family of great cooks. Limoncello's selections were unexpectedly delicious! We did not expect a sand beach, having been to Islamorada before, but that does affect our rating, can't help it. As teachers of marine science we were disappointed in what is termed the "snorkeling lagoon." The fitness center was top notch, and if you are looking for activities, there are plenty to choose from at Cheeca, including a tennis pro. The gift shop is excellent as well and all of the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. Despite a few slight inadequacies: no minibar or daily creamer in the room for coffee in our room, room service line always busy, spotty turn down service in the evening and limited newspaper delivery, we truly enjoyed our stay. I know we will visit again!

This hotel was was lacking staff and help

I have stayed at Cheeca Lodge for over the past twenty years, my stays are usually enjoyable. However this time I booked two suites and one regular room for over $2,500 for the three nights and this is a saving rate. Our check in was delayed until after 5:00, this was very difficult because we have a two year old and an infant. We received clean towels once and never had our rooms cleaned for the three nights. The staff had told me they were at capacity and very behind. Over all a pretty place, that's why Ive always gone back, but this last trip was not enjoyable.

Amazing

I live in florida and this hotel makes you feel like you are on a vacation. So many things to do, amazing restaurants and the rooms are amazing!! I have stayed at other resorts in islamorada and they smell of mildew (I know it's the keys but my allergies can't handle it). This hotel was hands down great and I will definitely sty here again!! Only downfall is that it's on ocean side so you can't see sunset at the resort but you can walk across the street to other restaurants to see it.
