The Grand Lady of the Port Everglades Cruise Port

Dubbed the grand lady, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port holds a prominent spot in local history. Built in 1925, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port was designed to mirror the classic Mediterranean revival style popularized by The Breakers in Palm Beach. After extensive renovations, the hotel's interiors have been refreshed with new kitchens, countertops, bedding and floors in all studios and suites. Guests also appreciate direct access to the Hollywood Boardwalk, the Port Everglades Cruise Port and the two-story mall onsite.

Highlights
  • Mediterranean revival style hotel at Port Everglades Cruise Port
  • Full kitchens with dishware and cookware
  • Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway views
  • Laundry rooms on every floor
  • Free continental breakfast for two guests on certain room types
  • Free Wi-Fi access
Location

For cruise goers, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port boasts an ideal location at the southern end of Port Everglades and near the famous Hollywood Boardwalk, which earned the distinction as America's Best Beach Boardwalk by Travel & Leisure. After a day of rollerblading or sunbathing, guests can also spend their tourist dollars at the on-site Oceanwalk Mall (the only enclosed shopping center directly on the oceanfront) located on the first and second floors of the hotel.

Rooms

A $3 million renovation updated more than 100 rooms, adding new granite countertops in the bathroom and kitchen, wood cabinets, porcelain tile flooring, bedding, furniture and decorative crown molding. Tropical and abstract prints brighten the space and coordinate with curtains and comforters. Studios and suites at the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port enable guests to prepare meals in full kitchens and log on to Wi-Fi for free. For a peek at surrounding vistas, request a room with an ocean view.

Recreation

Palm trees dot the canvas surrounding the outdoor pool, which is hugged by a sizeable sundeck for lounging. The Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port also keeps the blood flowing via the neighboring Jacuzzi and indoor fitness center equipped with treadmills, stationary bikes and StairMasters.

Complaint

This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in! The bathroom tub had hair in it and seemed to have not been cleaned before we arrived. The hotel staff was not knowlegedable at all of anything of the surrounding area. They were rude and I can not believe they charge for parking for guest that stay at the hotel if you do not valet. This was absolutelty ridiculous.

In need of updates

The room was clean but looked a bit rundown. Everything was extra, parking, breakfast, hotel charge for use of the gym which we didn't even use. Great location, right on the beach. The front desk staff was great. The restaurant staff had an attitude.

the beach is worth it!

The hotel is a bit depressing, although it must have been something in it's day. It's lobby houses a "mall" that is mostly closed storefronts. The staff though is friendly and helpful, and the room, although bizarre (small with only a queen bed - but a full kitchenette!) was quite clean. As a new Yorker, I forget how many people still smoke and found it annoying at the pool, etc.. The pool is big and beautiful and the beach is so accessible and heavenly - from the sand or from whatever cafe you choose to sit and dreamily watch the sea and sky. We lucked out with perfect weather during what is usually rainy season and hot & humid. I guess that made a big difference. Loved the whole broadwalk thing - sweet and self-contained. We (my 17 year old daughter & I) were there for only 3 + 1/2 days and happy to have never left the beach/pool/broadwalk. Also - we arrived on Sunday and the whole broadwalk was packed with a not so great population - locals, we think?...Woke on Monday to a whole other experience. A nice mix of ages - couples, families, etc.. Loved "Sugar Reef" for a great dinner and "Ocean Alley" for breakfast with classical music. (Skip the extra cost breakfast at the hotel - cereal & muffins...) Both cafes have beautiful views of the beach and ocean. For the money - we would go back, if the weather forecast was good!

There are so many cafes right on the broadwalk. Scope them out for what you like and try them! Most are very reasonable.

Great place, great location, great price

We like to stay at this location because it in on the beach and has a wonderful "boardwalk" that goes for miles; perfect for walking, biking, jogging or a leisurely stroll. It's lined with places to eat, drink and have a good time. If you don't like a dip in the ocean they have a nice size pool to relax by. We attend a couple Marlin games and the stadium is near to the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Less than impress

The location of the hotel was great. We were close to the beach and the boardwalk. There was not much in forms of shopping because all of the shops were closed or out of business. The appearance of the hotel was very run down. Once we were there, we saw that we paid a bit on the high end for the quality of the hotel. Bang for our bucks, we would have been better off at a Comfort Inn Suites. At least we would have avoided the extra $15/day parking fee plus $10/day resort fee. That's an extra $25/day that we paid for to stay at this run down hotel.

Great beach front location!

We stay here once or twice a year, always enjoy the hotel & the value for the terrific beach location. The Broadway is excellent for exercise & people watching. Typical Florida shops, teeshirts, novelties. Although, one thing to note, since the hotel changed names, the valet service is no longer part of the hotel & it is now 18 per day to park valet. They only accept cash & there is no sign to tell you that. It's 15 to self park at the garage next door. The hotel renovations are coming along nicely. We were really pleased with our room.

We would strongly recommend the fresh bakery sub stand in the hotel mall on the first floor. The husband & wife running the stand freshly baked our bagettes for our sub sandwiches, and I would highly recommend the chicken or tuna salad. The owners were really nice & everything was freshly prepared. The Sunny side cafe or bakery I believe was the name. For the value we will be returning for sure.

The PERFECT location

This is by far the best trip that I have ever taken to Florida. Hollywood Beach is full of things to do, and the locals couldn't be more wonderful. Taco Shack is right down the street from Hollywood Resort...YOU MUST GO THERE. Great food. WONDERFUL service. My only complaint is the 50 dollar "amenities fee" that I was told I had to pay when I checked out. This was the first time I heard of anything of the sort. When I asked what it was for I was told, "for things like the wifi". Hmm...okay. The town itself is amazing, the hotel location is perfect. The concierge [...] was so helpful. I would absolutely suggest making this a vacation spot for friends, family or couples.

Very unhappy

This hotel was one of the worst I have ever experienced. The room was dirty and the glass everywhere in the hotel looked as if it had'nt been cleabed in ages. The front desk staff was rarely helpful and very unorganized. Definitely my first and last trip to this hotel.

Old, Classic hotel

Old, vintage hotel, but right on the beach. Room was extremely small and could have used a good scrubbing. Location, and access to restaurants on the beach was great. Be prepared to pay $18 for valet parking at hotel, or $15/night in the garage. Old men handling valet parking were extremely rude.....very East coast. If you are looking for a place to stay that is "out of the norm" and unusual, this is your place. There are rumors there is a ghost, I wouldn't doubt it.
