The Grand Lady of the Port Everglades Cruise Port

Dubbed the grand lady, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port holds a prominent spot in local history. Built in 1925, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port was designed to mirror the classic Mediterranean revival style popularized by The Breakers in Palm Beach. After extensive renovations, the hotel's interiors have been refreshed with new kitchens, countertops, bedding and floors in all studios and suites. Guests also appreciate direct access to the Hollywood Boardwalk, the Port Everglades Cruise Port and the two-story mall onsite.

Highlights
  • Mediterranean revival style hotel at Port Everglades Cruise Port
  • Full kitchens with dishware and cookware
  • Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway views
  • Laundry rooms on every floor
  • Free continental breakfast for two guests on certain room types
  • Free Wi-Fi access
Location

For cruise goers, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port boasts an ideal location at the southern end of Port Everglades and near the famous Hollywood Boardwalk, which earned the distinction as America's Best Beach Boardwalk by Travel & Leisure. After a day of rollerblading or sunbathing, guests can also spend their tourist dollars at the on-site Oceanwalk Mall (the only enclosed shopping center directly on the oceanfront) located on the first and second floors of the hotel.

Rooms

A $3 million renovation updated more than 100 rooms, adding new granite countertops in the bathroom and kitchen, wood cabinets, porcelain tile flooring, bedding, furniture and decorative crown molding. Tropical and abstract prints brighten the space and coordinate with curtains and comforters. Studios and suites at the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port enable guests to prepare meals in full kitchens and log on to Wi-Fi for free. For a peek at surrounding vistas, request a room with an ocean view.

Recreation

Palm trees dot the canvas surrounding the outdoor pool, which is hugged by a sizeable sundeck for lounging. The Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port also keeps the blood flowing via the neighboring Jacuzzi and indoor fitness center equipped with treadmills, stationary bikes and StairMasters.

Less than adequite

The bath tub was torn apart, with the drain plugged up so we had to stand in 3 inches of dirty water. There was no cold water, even after informing the front desk. It was so hot it burned with just the cold side turned on. The pool was nice but there are only 5 umbrellas available (to rent), with no other shade options for laying out. The best part was probably the outside bar (Ocean Pub 101) and the staff was very nice. Most stores either we're closed all day or only open for a few hours. The Omalley's Bar on 2nd floor was closed majority of the time. The location is good with lots of outside places to eat and drink along the water with a nice clean beach. I'd like to say I'd go back but the room was not worth the money.

totally sufficient if you"re not a premadonna

nice location with descent pool and great beach and boardwalk access with shops and restaurants. rooms are nice and big but outdated tube televisions. you"re really paying more for the beach and boardwalk location than any amenities. worth it if you catch a good deal on the room price. several nice restaurants walking distance but need a car for any night life access.

Has Character but that's about it...

The place is like a ghost town! The attached "mall" was a joke with 2 stores, one I never saw open in my 3 night stay. The history of the hotel is interesting and the place has character but has not been well maintained. The 2 front desks is confusing and not customer friendly. The one where the valet/taxi drop off is, is for their real estate resort sales. To check into the hotel you have to go outside to a 2nd front desk. That "front desk" is not attached to the hotel. You have to go back to the 1st front desk (which really isn't a front desk) to get into the hotel. The location was nice, right on the beach next to the boardwalk. The food in the attached restaurant & bar was average. The Wifi was incredibly weak. I was in town for a conference and couldn't hold a decent connection and was unable to work on my computer for much of my trip. I would not stay again, especially if it was for pleasure with my family.

Disappointed

The room was the pits. It was clean, but the bathroom is in terrible shape. The tub is cracked. The mirror was corroded. The blinds wouldn“t close in the room so we had to dress in bathroom. Flea bag is the word that comes to mind. The location on the beach is great. The restaurant is quite nice. I don“t know why it is called cruise port when it“s 30 minutes from the port. Sort of misleading, but the free shuttle was good. The head conceirre is one of most disaffected people I“ve met. He is marginally helpful, and difficult to find, and very evasive with answers.

Not what I was expecting for the price

Run down and overprice but great location and friendly staff. I got put in a room with a mini kitchenette and sagging bed. The hotel is right on the beach, in walking distance from restaurants, and close to freeway access; however, I could have stayed at the Excelsior for the same price and many more amenities. I would not recommend it or stay there again.

worst hotel/motel ever

Very old creepy hotel. This hotel looks just like it went through a war with abandon amenities downstairs. Dirty both inside and outside. Staffs are rude. Hallways look like they're haunted. Elevators are open when moving. Overpriced. Motel 6 is even better than this for 1/3 of the price.
