The Grand Lady of the Port Everglades Cruise Port

Dubbed the grand lady, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port holds a prominent spot in local history. Built in 1925, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port was designed to mirror the classic Mediterranean revival style popularized by The Breakers in Palm Beach. After extensive renovations, the hotel's interiors have been refreshed with new kitchens, countertops, bedding and floors in all studios and suites. Guests also appreciate direct access to the Hollywood Boardwalk, the Port Everglades Cruise Port and the two-story mall onsite.

Highlights
  • Mediterranean revival style hotel at Port Everglades Cruise Port
  • Full kitchens with dishware and cookware
  • Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway views
  • Laundry rooms on every floor
  • Free continental breakfast for two guests on certain room types
  • Free Wi-Fi access
Location

For cruise goers, the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port boasts an ideal location at the southern end of Port Everglades and near the famous Hollywood Boardwalk, which earned the distinction as America's Best Beach Boardwalk by Travel & Leisure. After a day of rollerblading or sunbathing, guests can also spend their tourist dollars at the on-site Oceanwalk Mall (the only enclosed shopping center directly on the oceanfront) located on the first and second floors of the hotel.

Rooms

A $3 million renovation updated more than 100 rooms, adding new granite countertops in the bathroom and kitchen, wood cabinets, porcelain tile flooring, bedding, furniture and decorative crown molding. Tropical and abstract prints brighten the space and coordinate with curtains and comforters. Studios and suites at the Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port enable guests to prepare meals in full kitchens and log on to Wi-Fi for free. For a peek at surrounding vistas, request a room with an ocean view.

Recreation

Palm trees dot the canvas surrounding the outdoor pool, which is hugged by a sizeable sundeck for lounging. The Hollywood Beach Resort Cruise Port also keeps the blood flowing via the neighboring Jacuzzi and indoor fitness center equipped with treadmills, stationary bikes and StairMasters.

Would definitly stay here again

The hotel was perfect for my trip; just a relaxing vacation on the beach. The hotel is located right on the boardwalk by the beach. There are so many places to go on the boardwalk; restaraunts and shops. The room itself was a bit small; I got the petite suite. It was fine for me since I went by myself, but might be uncomfortable for two people. The room was very clean though, and that is what matters to me. The only thing I didn't care for was the fact that if you don't get the breakfast with your package, it costs $7 for a continental breakfast. That just wasn't worth it to me. So I went to the little French Cafe that they have in the mall area and got an excellent breakfast for cheaper. All in all this was a great place to stay. The people are very friendly and very helpful. Hope to be back there soon.

Disappointing

I have booked lots of hotels all around the world this way. What I am asked to pay on line has been it every time. I was asked to pay $10 a day resort charges for six nights I stayed there, $60 in total, on top of what I paid yourselves. That is disgusting. The rooms were never cleaned properly, dishes and cutlery left dirty, the neighbours were noisy and the coridors were smelly. Some of the staff at the reception were friendly, they allowed me 1.00 pm check out instead of 11.00 am on my last day. Overall very disappointing.

Good deal

For what I got, it was fine. Not luxerious, but not rundown either. The location was ideal: next to the beach with great restaurants all around, with a really great pool. I would stay there again if they had a good deal.

Not sure if it was a hotel or a brothel!

This hotel is the oldest in the area and it reflects it. A lot of quetionable people and activity around and in the hotel. I decided to check out after the first night since the room was so small I could barely navigate around the furniture and I was not sure it was bug free.

Great Location but hotl needs changes

A classic hotel with a great location on the beach but it does need improvement. A little better cleaning and maintenance would improve this old hotel that has seen better days. The cruise port is 7-9 miles away depending on the cab journey and watch for gouging since it cost $35.00 and a 'typical fare is $26.00 I would suggest they take Cruise Port out of the name.

Ramada Hollywood Beach Resort 3.5-4/5

This is indeed a rather unique hotel. Respite the renovation, it is still somewhat dusty. Pluses include a largely friendly staff (with a few notable exceptions), being on the boardwalk, and value. Negatives include thin walls, very noisy guests/staff, musty odor, and an additional $10/night "amenities fee" which produced no real amenities beyond what hotels normally provide (e.g. a towel at the pool). Additionally, it cost $15.00 per day to self park, which is uncommon outside of major urban city centers and is uncommon in South Florida. The hotel is initially difficult to locate. Coming from the north, W. Sheridan Road is the correct I-95 exit (#21, if I recall correctly), but it is improperly identified in the online directions. It is also difficult to wind around and find the hotel after making the turn onto Arizona Avenue. Calling for directions from Arizona Avenue did not produce helpful advice; rather, I got an irritated concierge who said: "we are right here...the big brown building.....how can you miss it?!?" After turning right on Arizona Street, take an immediate right on Tyler Street (running parallel to A!A) and as you ver around the corner toward the ocean, the unmarked driveway for the Ramada Hollywood Beach Resort is about 1/2 block towards the ocean on the right (big brown building). These complaints aside, these accomodations were very satisfactory, overall.

Skip Billy's Stone Crab Restaurant on A1A (400 N. Ocean Drive)---it is overprice, the quality is rather poor, and the service is quite bad. I checked online reviews which were mostly raves with a few searing complaints. Perhaps I hit a bad night?Better bets: The salad/sandwich shop in the indoor arcade between the lobby and the boardwalk or Taverna Opa (greek salads w/ chicken or shrimp/kabobs

great location

Location right on the boardwalk was great. The Mall associated had a few amenities. Good breakfast in the morning included. The hotel is changing over to time share, and regular visitors get the rooms at the very end away from the only elevator. I paid to upgrade to a slightly bigger room-well worth it even tho the bed was still hard. Good AC for the summer but no heat for the unseasonably cold weather.[...]PS the 'concierge' was only helpful if you were booking a tour he got a commission for-otherwise, zip.
