Great beach hotel
The Outrigger was lovely. We had booked a standard room but were able to upgrade to a pool view efficiency for a reasonable rate. It's totally worth it to do this--you get a kitchen and GORGEOUS gulf views. The pool and tiki bar are great if you like a more social scene with music, but if quiet is your style, the beach is huge and the water is far enough from the resort that you can sunbathe in quiet out on the sand. They rent cabanas if you want shelter or to stay off the sand, but we just put our towels on the soft white sand. This hotel is on the south side of the island, so a little less busy/touristy, although there are still plenty of restaurants. The beach right outside the hotel is great for hanging out, but if you like to walk there is much more nature to be seen if you stroll south down the beach. We saw tons of sea birds and lots of shells in tide pools. Loved it here, and would certainly return!

3 generation stay
Airline offered a $20.00 RT fare using 5000 miles (which will be refunded in March) to Fort Myers. We had 48 Hrs to book this deal and Orbtiz took care of the rest. This Resort was a deal for less then $400.00\wk and car rental(Nitro) for $250.00\wk. I booked this hotel for its location and the services offered. Myself, daughters and grandchildren(8 wk old and 16 mo) enjoyed walking the beach every morning, swimming in the warm pool each afternoon and watching my 16 month grandson dance to the nightly entertainment. We all slept great and appreciated the 2 pack n plays supplied for the babies. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I hope to return to this resort when our spouses can join us.

Inexpensive getaway
Nothing fancy about the place or the room. Standard guest room you'd find at any chain hotel/motel. If you're just looking for a place to shower and sleep and don't plan on spending any time in the room this is a good place to stay. It is nice that they have a restaurant on site. Great beach location. If you're looking to save money but want a place on a beautiful beach, this place will do.

Fantastic Beach Property for a fun time for everyone.
The Outrigger has it all. Only thing that I didn't care for was that you have to rent beach lounges for $15 a day. Think they should be cheaper or free for guests. Other than that the place is great. I have satyed there several times before and will definitely go back.

Beach Trolley has a stop just across from the motel. Great way to get down to the Times Square area at the Pier for several fun places to eat and shop. Also the Outrigger is just across the beach road from the movie theater and Charlies Boat House (a great place to eat). Both are a shor walk.

Great Trip
I booked this trip only on reviews that I read online because I have never traveled to the area before. The resort was an awesome place. Seemed to be geared towards snowbirds, and families which would have been perfect if we brought our kids. But the staff was awesome, the Tiki bar was great, even the deckside cafe was awesome. The pool is located right next to the tiki bar, which my wife would recommend the pina colda. The only advise I would give is that if you go there in October and you are not accustom to the European style of bathing suits you will get a few surprises. LOL

Sightseeing tip:
In Hotel
The sunsets on the beach are a beautiful sight at the Outrigger Beach Resort. They do a really cool thing. Every night during sunset the tiki bar plays a cog shell while the sun is setting and then as soon as the sun disappears over the horizon everyone cheers. It was one of the coolest things I had ever been around

Pretty Good
Everything was as expected with one exception; the room view. I paid extra to go from a "Standard View" to a "Resort View", thinking that it would have a view of the beach. Resort View simply meant that our room faced the interior of the "U" shaped hotel grounds. We could see the pool and in the distance, the tiki hut, but not the beach. With the blinds opened, all we could see was the building across the parking lot. Other than that, the hotel was clean and the amenities were as expected. Decent hotel with a great beach.
