La Quinta Inn & Suites Ft Myers Sanibel Gateway

We stayed at this hotel because it was close enough to the beach, but didn't have the expense to go along with it. For that - you can't beat the deal. We were able to get a rental car at a decent price too - which I would say is a must if you stay at this hotel. The grocery store and outlet mall are within walking distance, but that is it. The room was nice - decent size, overall it was clean. I would say that it could have benefited from a thorough clean. The staff was nice. The breakfast was okay - typical hotel. The pool seemed nice, although we didn't use it. The fitness center was fine for me, but my husband would have liked a set of free weights rather than the less-than-exciting weight machine. Make sure you bring your own shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion - they only give you one little bottle of shampoo and a bar of soap - unlike other hotels that provide everything I mentioned above. Again, for the price, you can't beat it. Don't expect an immaculate room or convenient location - you'll need a rental car.

Very clean & friendly hotel. Breakfast was good and pool was impressive for this type of hotel. Happy with the decision I made staying here.

When we first checked in, they gave us a room in the very back corner. We felt unsafe and requested a room on the inside, facing the pool and all the activity. They said they could move us, but would have to charge us an additional $35 for the three nights we stayed. They said the rate from [...] was only for the back corner. The new room was very clean. There was a large gap at the bottom of the entry door and we blocked it at night as we were worried about unwelcome creatures sneaking in during the night. The toilet clogged twice and maintenance responded quickly to fix it. The breakfast was a joke. Way too many people and not enough food. After the first day, we ate breakfast elsewhere. The location is great if you plan on visiting Sanibel Island. Very short drive and the rate was way cheaper than staying on the island.

This hotel was fine for an overnight stop. The breakfast area (a perk that we included in our decision to stay here) was poorly set up, limited in variety and crowded. The rooms were fine if you don't mind doors that open directly to the outside - this was not visible in the hotel pictures.

Even though the weather was not the greatest, we had a great bicycle trip from the La Quinta Inn all the way to Captiva and back (45 miles), stopping at some of the neat spots there and on the way. The hotel was a very good location with nice pool and hot tub, staff was real friendly, but didn't know any info on the night life around the area, other than that, staff was fine......

Stayed at the La Quinta while in Fort Myers for Red Sox spring training. All rooms open to the outide and because ours faced the parking lot and the dumpsters, we woke every morning to the leftover presence of rats in front of our doorway. The rugs in our room were heavily stained and I looked at the same piece of dirt on our bathroom floor for our entire stay. The hotel gives room key cards with a local restaurant announcing a dining discount, but when arriving at said restaurant, we found that it had been closed for quite a while. When we asked the front desk about specific water-front restaurants, the woman behind the desk pointed to a brochure and sent us on our way. We got stuck in 2 hours of beach traffic and after finally reaching the restaurant, were told we had a 1-hour wait. Very disappointed in the lack of communication with the front desk staff. The fitness center consisted of 3 noisy cadio machines and a universal. Breakfast included.

Visited Sanibel Island. My stay would have been rated Excellent but the Breakfast was only available until 9am. Should be available til 10am.

The hotel was a great location to either Ft Myers Beach or Sanibel. The pool was nice. The rooms were clean. We had a room with an adjoing room. We could hear everything that the people next door were saying when they were in the vicinity of that door. Their wake up calls were our wake up calls, so that part was annoying. Make sure to specify you do not want to be in an adjoining room and you will be fine.

Enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this particular La Quinta. The location was unbelievable for the price, it was situated very close to both Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island. Rooms were very nice, property was well kept, and the pool was great. Continental breakfast was unbelievable, but expect to wait to get your food. Highly recommended this La Quinta location for just about any type of traveler.
