Magical Getaway
Crazy Beautiful Jun 26, 2009
Well this was my first trip to Ft Lauderdale, the experience was amazing. Didn't stay at the Clipper. June 1st they closed ... for renovation. The amazing staff at Orbitz booked me over to the WESTIN Beach and Resort. Thank you Orbitz! Will definitely go there again. The hotel was beautiful. Right in front of the beach. Super spot! Enjoyed the sunrise everyday from my room. Room was so nice and clean. Bed was so comfortable. AMAZING

Front desk instantly upgraded me from the room orbiz had booked, I think because they were aware I was a member of their ... starwood preferred group. The original room was totally unsatisfactory, but the room we eventually got was great.

Right on the beach
Walter Nov 24, 2008
We have stayed in this hotel 2 different occassions. It is very handy to the beach and off the beaten path of partying. ... The $12.00 for parking gets expensive and you have to park in the garage which is terrible to drive in and park. You better have a little rental car. The room we had was smoke free, and it really was. Nothing fancy, but everything you need for the beach. Nice to have beach lounge chairs, towels and the pool handy.

Great Location for any purpose
Diane Oct 21, 2008
Terrific Beach location. The trolley goes right past this hotel making it somewhat convenient to the convention center. You ... are on the beach or a sky walk away. The hotel is beautiful, my room had two windows with ocean views. The bed was really comfortable and the room had nice amenities making travel easier. The sink could have been wider to accommodate toiletries but there were a couple of shelves in the bathroom for that. The hotel provides beach chairs and there are volley ball nets on the beach. A great place to stay.

Take the Sand Trolley for one dollar to great shops and restaurants. Also nearby is the water taxi on the inland waterway.

Our stay
Betty Oct 20, 2008
Staff at the front desk where very polite and helpful. However, the cleaning service was a lot to be desired. One day they ... didn't even come into the room. The second shift had to come in pick up towels, and give up fresh towels, clean the bathroom. They were very nice and apolized over and over. The dining area, we ate breakfast there one morning, the prices were terrible for the food we got, the service was also very sad. I tip according to the service I get and really get upset when they tell me how much I have to tip! You could have micro waves and small refrigerators in the rooms. People travel and like to have some things warmed up or cold. The water in the rooms at $4 a bottle is rediculous!

12.00 parking
Brian Aug 4, 2008
We were shocked the parking was $12.00 per day plus tax. Not Valet. Valet Parking was $ 17.00 per day. Never stayed at a ... hotel that you had to pay for parking your own car. That should be clearly stated in their description. Sort of spoiled the good rate for the room. Could have stayed at hotel down the street with no parking fees for the same amount if I add back the parking charges. Room was OK..thought it would be nicer...considering it was suppose to be newly renovated. I would not go back.

Not so great!
Michele Aug 3, 2008
My stay at The Sheraton Yankee Clipper was medicore at best. The room was ok; however, we had a handicap accessible room so ... we had no counter space in the bathroom and a very uncomfortable shower. The housekeeping was excellent in that they always cleaned our room, made the beds up and supplied us with fresh towels, but the bedding had stains all over it...so, it was clean, but didn't look clean type of thing. The main pool on the beach side was very small so if you didn't feel like being at the beach that day, you were lucky if you could find a spot to sit and even more lucky if you could get in the pool. The other pool was surrounded by hotel rooms so you wanted want to sit there! The employees of the hotel were kind and helpful, especially the at consierge's desk and the location of the hotel was great for a short walk downtown and to the beach, but other than that, I wouldn't recommend it!

My review of Sheraton Yankee Clipper Hotel
Patrick Jun 7, 2008
The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is right on the beach and has its own private area equipped ... with lounge chairs, bar and towel service. The buildings are dated but clean. The fitness center was well equipped and had two treadmills and stationary bikes, and a couple of weight machines. All I had to eat was one breakfast and it was fine. For business travelers it would be nice to know in advance that they charge for internet and parking.

Great beach option
Cynthia May 4, 2008
The Sheraton Yankee Clipper was conveniently located right on the beach - which was especially nice considering the back-ups ... and traffic jama while everyone was looking for parking spots. I had to pay extra $12 to park my car there, but not a surprise as I think that's pretty standard for the area. My room was fine for the few hours I was there, I didn't really pay attention to details, but it was roomy and clean and had a partial view of the beach. My only complaints were the $3 minimum to use the internet to print a boarding pass, and reception seemed to be understaffed - there was usually a line and only one person to help everyone. But all employees were extremely friendly and courteous.

Monty Mar 20, 2008
Room 202 was old looking and needs new carpet. No counter space in bathroom, none. Arrived at 2:15 and told I would have to ... wait until 3:00 for check-in. At 3:00 room was ready and had been ready for hours. Valet parking guys are great, housekeepers are great, and rest & bar people are great. Front deck needs improvement.
