A return to tradition at a casual Fort Lauderdale beach resort
A roomy veranda with rocking chairs signifies the casual appeal of Pelican Grand Beach Resort, a family-friendly hotel right on the oceanfront. Visitors enjoy watching time go by in the zero entry pool, lazy river and choosing their favorite ice cream flavors at the parlor. For fine dining with water views, the standard is North Ocean Grille. Rooms lean toward the traditional, with iron bed posts, crown molding and bright pastels.
Highlights

- Zero entry pool and lazy river
- Old-fashioned ice cream parlor
- Veranda with rocking chairs
- North Ocean Grille for all-day waterfront dining
Rooms
Pastels (canary yellow, lilac and various shades of blue) spread cheer in traditional rooms, suites and penthouses at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Depending on the layout, the room might have a balcony with a view of the Intracoastal Waterway or Atlantic Ocean. Look for traditional touches like crown molding, heavy armoires doubling as TV cabinets and iron bed frames. Every room has a mini refrigerator, microwave, high-speed Internet access, movies, games and music.
Dining
Pelican Grand Beach Resort whips up a meal for every occasion. Grab breakfast, lunch or dinner by the water at North Ocean Grille and finish with a sweet treat at The Emporium, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor.
Recreation
A zero entry pool overlooks a horizon graced by palm trees and those signature South Florida sunsets at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. There, guests can either take a leisurely cruise aboard an inner tube on the lazy river or rest on poolside cabanas with their favorite tropical drink from Poolside, an alfresco lounge. e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e for no big reason
Orbitz did not tell me valet parking was the ONLY choice of parking i had at this place. Valet costs $24 USD plus tax overnight and $10 USD plus tax daily, I was miffed beyond belief at this. Room service was another rip-off. I spent about a hundred bucks just for two breakfasts-for-three. Fresh squeezed orange juice and tea were about the only good part, everything else tasted borderline terrible and cost almost double I would have to pay anywhere else. The view was G-r-e-a-t, but the balcony was located in the living area, not the bedroom which was another disappointment. The fridge was small, and the microwave platter didn't turn at all. The tub was also the smallest size, not even medium. The internet access you get is not wireless, you must sit at a desk and browse.

Nice relaxing trip
We liked our stay at this resort. The hotel is right on the beach and the beach lounge chairs and umbrellas are free to hotel guests. We have stayed at other hotels that charge you $15-20 per day for that type of service. They also provide plenty of towels. One day we started are day at the pool and then we headed down to the beach mid day and they would provide you with new towels. Regardless of where you were laying out at you could always ask for extra towels. They have 2 restaurants on site. One of them serves breakfast and dinner, reasonable breakfast prices. I ate the American Breakfast and it consisted of eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, fench toast or pancakes and coffee for $13. My wife usually got a omelet for $8-10. Not bad. Food was good. At night we would eat at the other restaurant which is a little cheaper and serves mostly sandwiches and appetizers so we go between 5pm-7pm which is happy hour and is 2 for 1 drinks and some appetizers are discounted. Most sandwiches range from $10- $15. Food was also good. We ate at these 2 restaurants everyday we were there since we had no car and nearest restaurants are 2-3 miles away. The staff was always courteous and friendly. The hotel is clean. They have a nice patio veranda area right outside the lobby that over looks the ocean and where you could take your drinks and relax.

Long walk from hotel
The ride from airport to resort is about 5-7 miles, 15 minute drive. Our cab ride from airport to hotel was $26.50 plus tip. On the way back the hotel offers a shuttle which they told us would be $30 but ended up being $35 plus tip so believe it or not take the cab instead of hotel shuttle van to save $8-10 bucks. No good restaurants in walking distance, the closest thing is about 2-3 miles away near the busy public beach strip. They have a Walgreens about a mile away so we got a 24 pack of water and walked back to hotel so we could have them for laying out in sun all day. Hotel offers 20oz bottle waters for $4. Be careful on the specialty drinks like a Bloody Mary, that will cost you $12, beers are $6. One of the restaurants on site have happy hour from 5pm to 7pm where you get 2 for 1 drinks and some discounted appetizers.

A nice stay
The hotel was nice and the rooms were pretty big. The front desk was very kind (well most were). The coffee store/ice cream shop could have used some help and updating. The coffee and especially the cappuccino I had was not good. For a 5.00 dollar capuccino in a small cup you would think it would taste better. The restaurants were okay, but had a very tiny menu. In would not eat at the buffet on Sunday. My husband and i had one dinner plate each and shared desserts on another plate and it was $75.00. I was shocked. We had the best experience with room service. The food was always very good. The only other thing we didnt like is that there is reallly nothing close by to walk to. So if you dont rent a car, you will have to take a taxi or bus.

Family vacation
The hotel met our expectations, overall very good. Nice architecture, good service, AC in the room was very good, little to no noise transfer in the room, fridg and mwave very helpfull, no additional charge for beach seats and ambrella. valet parking is required, no nearby parking, add $25/day plus tips to the budget, but it is nice not to have to worry about parking. Good location. Do reconmend the hotel.

We loved the Queen Ocean Suite. It was a perfect set up for families with children. The lazy river was a huge hit. Very clean, comfortable and just a lovely place. Will definately go back.

Very Nice Resort....
We really enjoyed our stay at the resort... Beautiful lobby and we also had a very nice room..... had a safe which is always a big plus! The lazy river was very enjoyable although they closed it down way too early.. 5:00 p.m.!! The pool was extremely small but adequate. As always the kids were extremely annoying in the lazy river and we saw little or no parental supervision. Housekeeping was slow and we ask for linens one day and never received them until I called the second time. We had a early flight and the fact that the ice cream shop (that has coffee and muffins) did not open until 7:00 was a negative. But all in all it was a very pleasant stay at the resort.

Excellant Hotel- but a little problem
The hotel was luxurious, the veranda and the beach just awesome. Staff was wonderful once we got our room.Problem: I believe I paid extra to guarantee a balcony with an ocean view. when we got there we were given a city view (on the street side) and no balcony. I was told that the view I had of the ocean (a sliver) WAS the ocean view. Luckily a friendly gentleman named [...], the front desk manager, was able to find us a room on the water side of the hotel with a huge balcony. So life was good.

Ocean lovers paradise...
This location is the "best" for a quiet vacation with the beautiful beach and ocean at your doorstep.. Yet still close to all the action of the A1A tourist areas and sights, both North, South and west.. The beautiful early morning breakfasts on the veranda overlooking the ocean before other guests rise and shine.. And the late evening candle lit dinners with the sounds of the ocean waves and warm breezes make for an exceptional experience and escape from the 9-5 reality that awaits you back home.. This was a most enjoyable vacation, with the hotel staff making it a comfortable and pleasant hotel experience.. I would definitely stay here again.
