A return to tradition at a casual Fort Lauderdale beach resort
A roomy veranda with rocking chairs signifies the casual appeal of Pelican Grand Beach Resort, a family-friendly hotel right on the oceanfront. Visitors enjoy watching time go by in the zero entry pool, lazy river and choosing their favorite ice cream flavors at the parlor. For fine dining with water views, the standard is North Ocean Grille. Rooms lean toward the traditional, with iron bed posts, crown molding and bright pastels.
Highlights
- Spacious rooms, some with ocean or Intracoastal Waterway views
- Zero entry pool and lazy river
- Old-fashioned ice cream parlor
- Veranda with rocking chairs
- North Ocean Grille for all-day waterfront dining
Rooms
Pastels (canary yellow, lilac and various shades of blue) spread cheer in traditional rooms, suites and penthouses at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Depending on the layout, the room might have a balcony with a view of the Intracoastal Waterway or Atlantic Ocean. Look for traditional touches like crown molding, heavy armoires doubling as TV cabinets and iron bed frames. Every room has a mini refrigerator, microwave, high-speed Internet access, movies, games and music.
Dining
Pelican Grand Beach Resort whips up a meal for every occasion. Grab breakfast, lunch or dinner by the water at North Ocean Grille and finish with a sweet treat at The Emporium, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor.
Recreation
A zero entry pool overlooks a horizon graced by palm trees and those signature South Florida sunsets at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. There, guests can either take a leisurely cruise aboard an inner tube on the lazy river or rest on poolside cabanas with their favorite tropical drink from Poolside, an alfresco lounge. Beach attendants and servers tend to sunbathers' every need.

very family friendly
the pelican grand beach resort was one of the best hotels i have ever stayed at, and i used to travel for 16 years with a professional hockey team, staying in every kind of hotel. i have never met so many friendly employees as i did during my visit, from the very minute i arrived until i departed eight days later. these people were fantastic, AND HAD MORE ENTHUSIASM THAN I COULD EVER HAVE. i booked another visit before i left, in december, for 10 days, and decided to spend my birthday there in august, deciding on it when i got back home and thought about how much i enjoyed my visit to lauderdale. it was because the staff was top notch from the bellhops, the pool and beach staff, the front desk, the bartenders, the servers that i can't wait to return. did i forget anyone? during my stay i met the new owners and expressed my extreme pleasure with the staff they had assembled there. great job hiring some wonderful people. i wrote two notes to the owners about two exployees who were exceptioinal. i could have and probably should have written one about each employee. yes, it was that good. as a restaurant critic for the asbury park press (gannett newspapers) i thoroughly enjoyed the outstanding food, the poolside beverages (yummy) and snacks (make sure you try everything on the mennu). if i missed anything, my apologies. i recommend the PELICAN GRAND BEACH RESORT to anyone who wants to have the time of their life. i sure did.

Quiet place on the beach
Nice hotel right on the beach, although not near anything of walking distance. Front desk staff is always available to answer questions ... service staff slow. Restaurant is very good - exceptional dinners.

Perfect Beach Location
Best on beach location in Fort Lauderdale. Everything at Hotel was first class except suite had 2 older CRT model TV's. New flat screen TV's would be a great upgrade.

disappointed traveler
have been in hotels all over the world, this is a nice hotel, rooms are very typical for a 3 star, certainly not 4 or 5 star. would not spend the money to go back, would choose a nicer hotel down the street. Listened to doors banging all nite, thinking this was upscale, I didn't expect drunk 20 year olds in the outside hall all night. It is too bad that they don't put an age limit on this hotel.
