A return to tradition at a casual Fort Lauderdale beach resort
A roomy veranda with rocking chairs signifies the casual appeal of Pelican Grand Beach Resort, a family-friendly hotel right on the oceanfront. Visitors enjoy watching time go by in the zero entry pool, lazy river and choosing their favorite ice cream flavors at the parlor. For fine dining with water views, the standard is North Ocean Grille. Rooms lean toward the traditional, with iron bed posts, crown molding and bright pastels.
Highlights
- Spacious rooms, some with ocean or Intracoastal Waterway views
- Zero entry pool and lazy river
- Old-fashioned ice cream parlor
- Veranda with rocking chairs
- North Ocean Grille for all-day waterfront dining
Rooms
Pastels (canary yellow, lilac and various shades of blue) spread cheer in traditional rooms, suites and penthouses at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Depending on the layout, the room might have a balcony with a view of the Intracoastal Waterway or Atlantic Ocean. Look for traditional touches like crown molding, heavy armoires doubling as TV cabinets and iron bed frames. Every room has a mini refrigerator, microwave, high-speed Internet access, movies, games and music.
Dining
Pelican Grand Beach Resort whips up a meal for every occasion. Grab breakfast, lunch or dinner by the water at North Ocean Grille and finish with a sweet treat at The Emporium, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor.
Recreation
A zero entry pool overlooks a horizon graced by palm trees and those signature South Florida sunsets at Pelican Grand Beach Resort. There, guests can either take a leisurely cruise aboard an inner tube on the lazy river or rest on poolside cabanas with their favorite tropical drink from Poolside, an alfresco lounge. Beach attendants and servers tend to sunbathers' every need.

Great beach location and upscale
Thank goodness for the staff at Pelican [...] I reserved an ocean view with a balcony and when discussing this with the Pelican staff upon arrival he said that I'd have to crane my neck to even see the ocean and no balconies available on non ocean front rooms. After waiting for hours he upgraded my room. Great friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, beach chairs readily available and the roaming beach waiter always ready to freshen drinks.

Will not bother to return
Lovely hotel; Decor pretty; location good; restaurant and bar and lobby great; bBeach could have been picked up more.Wait for car way too long on Sunday and Wednesday.(we always called ahead)Room needed attention: Safe needed new batteries; hem on drapes was torn rather extensively; maid did not provide Coffee, glasses, hand towels, wash cloths, repeatedly (she said they were out), and was unable to vacuum broken glass shards off floor of balcony -or even provide a broom after three days of asking. Unable to upgrade during 8 night stay. FullView mostly of other buildings. Do NOT book standard room. [...] We took long walks- beach and John Birch State Park; swam, took water taxi tour-very good; enjoyed Bonnet house; drove to Islamorado Key ; and to Flamingo Gardens(west on 545) Great! Los Olas River Walk nice!We are worldwide frequent travelers and were looking for a quick trip to a sunny location where we might bring our extended family next winter. Not here I think.great!

Good Hotel --a little noisy.
Nice hotel on the beach. We had a suite which was nice overlooking the beach. Hotel is a little pricey. Try to get it on sale. Hotel is older but very nice eating areas and beach. There is Traffic noise at night because doors face main road. If you don't mind the road noise-hotel is fine.

Pelican Grand
I specifically requested a smoking room and upon check in, was quite surprised to learn that smoking was strictly prohibited "anywhere on the property". Outside of that, it was a lovely place. Great views and friendly, helpful staff.

Oceanfront-suite is phantastic Unfortunatly Wireless-Internet access is only in Groundfloor-area available. In the Room only with cable. Request for late check-out (3pm) was only available with 75.-$ surcharge.

Spacious oceanfront suite
terrific beach, river pool, and zero entry pool with bar and food service. Ice cream shop and hotel a nice treat. Used as a base for touring but resort is a destination in itself. Conveniently located 13 minutes from FLL. huge shared but mostly vacant terrace on 2nd floor, balconies on other floors. Coveted oceanfront porch with rockers. Bathrooms small but rooms are large, though narrow, accommodating 2 kings and a separate lr with single pull out and couch divided by glass and a door. Good value ESP if booked in advance, staff , poor cellphone coverage and no wifi in guest room we were in; although wifi avail at pool and public rooms. Bkfst in hotel good but resort-priced. Valet required unless you want to feed the meter. S

An awesome locale!
We loved this place! It had a cozy feel and felt like home. Hotel staff were great! We walked every morning along highway A1A while looking at the ocean the whole time. Car valets were efficient and quick no matter how many times we came in and out. The rocking chairs, breakfast on the back veranda overlooking the ocean was wonderful. Bartenders were willing to make some fun drinks for us and the accommodations were great. We really appreciated the safe in each room for our valuables and even though we had a non-ocean view we still liked the room. We had a fun time and loved nearby restaurant called Spazios!

BEACH TO SLOPES
Staff Consideration and Promptness
THE BEACH IS RIGHT OUTSIDE THE BREAKFAST DOORS AND THEY HAVE BEACH BOYS ARE READY TO ASSIST WITH LOUNGE CHAIRS AND UMBRELLAS. BREAKFAST IS AMAZING, BUT DON'T MISS COCKTAIL HOUR IN THE LOUNGE - THEIR SPECIALTY DRINKS ARE THIER BEST, SANGRIAS AND MOHITOS! WE WANTED TO RELAX AND EVEN WITH ALL THE FAMILIES IT WAS EXCELLENT. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE PLANTATION LIKE FEEL AND THE ROCKERS ON THE COVERED LOGGIA WITH WAITERS READY TO SERVE EVEN IF IT IS ONLY ICE WATER. WHAT NOT TO EXPECT - THEY DO NOT HAVE JET SKIS AND WAVE RUNNERS AND YOU NEED TO PURCHASE SNORKELING EQUIPMENT FROM THE GIFT SHOP, THAT BY THE WAY SELLS AMAZING ICE CREAM AND SOFT CHEESE - HURRAY FOR LOCAL FLAVORS. I SNORKLED AND COLLECTED FABULOUS SHELLS AND SAW PLENTY OF SMALL FISH. IT WAS ALSO WINDY ENOUGH THAT PLENTY OF PEOPLE WERE ENJOYING THE WAVES. PELICAN GRAND HAS A FABULOUS CAR SERVICE FOR THOSE THAT WISH NOT TO RENT A CAR AND STILL WANT TO GET AWAY. THE CAR SERVICE WILL TAKE YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO GO, WAIT FOR YOU TO DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, AND TAKE YOU BACK WHEN YOU ARE READY, ALL FOR UNDER 100.00 FOR THE TRIP. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE IMPRESSED AND ENDED UP USING THEM FOR SEVERAL TRIPS OUTSIDE THE RESORT. WE WOULD GO BACK IT IS CLASSIC FLORIDA!
