Tiki bar plus patio dining equals paradise
The Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort pitches the South Florida lifestyle ever so perfectly. From the sundeck and outdoor pool, guests fall for the ocean views and the poolside tiki bar. Inside, the tropical feel is never far behind. Rooms and suites capture local flair via landscape and coastal-themed artwork, plus balconies in some spaces that let in sea breezes.
Highlights
- Beachfront hotel with heated outdoor pool
- Indoor/outdoor restaurant and tiki bar
- Free Wi-Fi
- Suites also available with kitchens, living and dining areas
Rooms
Tasteful furniture and a modern palette grounded in olive, yellow and brown lend subtle sophistication to the 225 rooms and 15 suites at the Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort. Cheerful artwork depicts tropical flora and fauna and nautical scenes. Balconies spoil with ocean views, while inside, guests unwind on chenille lounge chairs or king or double beds. Suites have added advantages like separate kitchens, living and dining spaces. Free Wi-Fi, cable TV, microwave and mini refrigerator are standard in every room.
Dining
A trip to Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort is not complete without a refreshing cocktail at the tiki bar or a leisurely meal at the on-site indoor and outdoor restaurant. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., the eatery treats diners to upscale casual fare and beach vistas through arched open-air windows.
Recreation
Lazy palms and bright blue beach chairs hug the heated oceanfront pool, which is gated for privacy. The brick sundeck also holds patio tables so Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort guests can enjoy alfresco dining. Thrill-seekers hit the nearby water sports business to rent jet skis, banana rides, snorkeling and scuba equipment, while on dry land, a game room and fitness center serve as backup plans.

The rooms were adequate. ...
The rooms were adequate. Remembering that you get what you pay for, i was pleasantly surprised. I found the rooms to be very nice and also roomy. The view was good. The location was close to the places I had intended to visit. The bar was under construction, but, the one next door served admirably. I would go back if it was teh same time of the year.

Beach Proximity makes the place
Me and my girlfriend just came back from Ocean Sky Hotel... It was the most relaxing 4 days ever. The proximity to the private beach is amazing. You can jump out of the pool and into the ocean in less than 20 seconds. that was by far the best part of the hotel. The rooms were alright - not fantastic, but the view from the balcony made up for all of it. Only bad part and there it was minor - but the tiki bar was randomly expensive and sorta slow. the food was amazing though.

Had a Great Stay!
Just came back from a 3 night stay at the Ocean Sky Resort. Overall I had a very good experience and it was a good value. I did call a week in advance to see if they could ensure I would get a good room and was very happy with the results. Lobby was nicely done. Room was clean and nicely appointed with neatly folded towels and had everything I needed and even included a fridge so I could keep my beverages nice and cool. Beds were a bit on the soft side-still got a good nights sleep. Bathroom was nice and clean. Ice & vending machines on just about every floor. Only extra on my bill was $1/day for a safe I didn't use. Parking is $8/day but I chanced a spot in the hotel next door's lot. Mickey D's and a Winn Dixie supermarket are just a short distance away if you need to grab a snack somewhere. Found delicious crepes at a French restaurant 33RD & DINE FRENCH (just a few blocks away). Both the front desk and towel lady were friendly, though the lady at the bar by the pool refused to give me a glass of water. Watersports (for a fee) or right onsite. Didn't use pool since beach was right there-not very big but more than adequate-got a spot right by water. Larger jacuzzi tub. Many people just sunbathed on the hotel's lounge chairs by the pool. Saw lots of little fish (mostly the same kind) while snorkeling. Balcony is nicely kept but other people could potentially access your room from other balconies so keep the balcony door locked when not there. Only real negative if anything is the location (was there for the night life) since you're almost into Ft. Lauderdale Beach) but that wasn't that big of a deal with a car. You could also be quite happy just staying at the hotel. I'd definitely consider this hotel for a return visit. Nightlife: 4 miles away on the main Las Olas/S Atlantic Blvd strip (Elbo Room, Spazio's (good for dinner) and then the Beach Place complex which houses Sloppy Joes and Howl at the Moon piano bar). On a Saturday night (maybe Fri too but Sunday night was dead), go to the other end of Las Olas Blvd to SW 2nd St. Fun starts at 10 or 11pm until at least 4am. There you'll find a slew of restaurants and bars with all different kinds of entertainment as well as some clubs. Favs incl the upscale Voodoo Lounge-a mini version of what you'd find in South Beach (upscale no shorts) with great dance music. The Brick (on Brickell street) also had good music. Lots of other bars had live singers/bands.

Entertainment card may work for fine dining-used a NJ card at Spazio's. Also, buy $25 gift certificates for $10 or maybe $5 using discount codes. At time of review, they had them for Sloppy Joes & Howl at the Moon and were good for alcoholic drinks there too.

Very friendly staff
The Ocean Sky Hotel & Resort was very nice. We loved the location-the neighborhood was extremely nice. The staff were very accommodating when we asked for a room with a great view as it was our honeymoon and my husband had never seen the ocean/beach. Valet parking was excellent, all the valet workers were very nice, friendly and fast. We liked the fact there was a safe in the room. The battery was low on the safe, however, we called and maintenance came within 5 mins. to replace the battery. The fact each room had a balcony was awesome. The bed was very, very comfortable. The only thing we did not like is the fact you had to eat outside in the restaurant. I don't know if something special was going on or not, however, always had to eat outside. Very nice hotel, staff and beach and will stay there again.

Updated and clean
The Ocean Sky Hotel was updated and kept very clean including the pool and beach area. It has a Tiki hut where food is served or a restaurant where you could dine indoors or outdoors. They have Valet parking which made parking very convenient. It was very convenient to walk to the grocery stores and small restaurants. For the money, it was one of the nicest beach hotels that we have stayed in.

Great hotel for the price
Contrary to many of the reviews I read about this particular hotel, I was very satisfied. The pool was beautiful, and overlooked a beautiful beach. Nightlife was approximately a $12.50 cab ride away, and the cab ride to the airport is approx. $30. Just don't plan on walking anywhere but the beach, because most restraunts and bars are a cab ride away. There is a really cool tiki bar at the hotel next door that overlooks the beach. Overall I have no complaints about the accomodations.

Great Location For Me
Nice place However the rooms are older and the furnishings are old. The one thing that struck me the hardest was the electric in the rooms. Many overloaded extension cords that were not sufficient for the accomadations. You had to unplug one thing to make another work. That was scary and a fire hazard to me. The lobby and restaurants are new and nice. The location for me is perfect. However might not be so perfect for family/tourist, it's off the beaten path and quiet.
