The check in experience was a nightmare. The rude clerk actually tried to bully me into taking a room other than the one I ... needed. After reading other reviews in [...], I knew I needed to call to express my need for a room with 2 beds. I was assured that would be fine. When I got there the clerk said I could only have a room with 1 bed. I said I was traveling with my son and that was unacceptable and explained that I had called ahead. He admitted that it was him I had spoken with but if I wanted a room with 2 beds I could not have an efficiency. This was obviously a lie because when I insisted, I got exactly what I had asked for in the first place. FYI most of the reviews in [...] are very true (air conditioning is noisy, rooms are not the greatest) but I would stay here again. It is a great location and the price was right.

First the hotel did not have our reservation that was made through [...], then i was harrassed by the valet to give them the ... keys to my car while i was checking in. Needless to say i did not give them my keys. The hotel was very old and the reno was a lot left to be desired. We went out one night and our room door was open when we returned. Nothing was stolen, but the door was locked when we left. we checked out the next morning never to look back.

If you want to go and stay in your room this is not the place for you. However if you are on vacation and looking to have fun ... then this is your place. The pool was great, the food was very good, the Tiki bar was a fun place to be, and the staff was very accomodating. Rooms are only average but for the price they were not bad at all. We went there the day before we got on our cruise and it was a great start to our vacation. When we cruise out of Fort Lauderdale again we would welcome the chance to stay at the Ocean Manor Beach Resort.

Beach Trip
Family vacation Sep 20, 2009
The room was great, but the appearance of the hotel needed some upgrading. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room service ... was okay. We had to ask for towel several times. I loved the private beach. We were not allowed to bring any food or drinks on the beach, which really sucked, but we still had a great time

over priced closet room
business traveler Sep 9, 2009
very expensive. employees were very rude and looked at everyone down their nose. anyone could see that the room was a closet ... turned to room with added bathroom - you could see the old lines and paint peel still attached to walls. room was terrible but we had no other options so we stayed one night. hope to NEVER have to stay in that hotel again. hotel was on beach front but that does not help its cause when clean, comfort is not achieved. we had to sleep with the lights on because there were roaches. horrible experience...hope someone else may have a better time.

Beware of Extra Costs!
Traveler Aug 27, 2009
The hotel and pool were clean and the beach was adjecent. However, I will NOT return due to all the extra costs such as, $5 ... daily fee for pool and beach access. Also, you are not allowed to bring any of your own supplies such as, water, food, beach chairs, umbrella, coolers or any other items other than basically the clothes on your back!! Everything MUST be bought or rented from the hotel, at a very high cost. There is even a security guard who checks your bags to make sure you are not sneaking in any drink or food item! This is worse than traveling through an airport or living in a communist country!

we booked through orbitz, upgraded and was glad we did. ocean view balcony was certainly worth the extra 20$ or so. we just ... wanted a relaxing few days at the beach and this place was perfect for that. close to supermarket/pharmacy, cafe in hotel, tiki bar served ok stuff, good bbq on weekend. we didnt go exploring much as there didnt seem to be many worthwhile restaurants close by.

winn dixie nearby supermarket/pharmacy. we bought beer there, drank it on the balcony rather then spend 5/beer at the tiki bar. eat cheap from supermarket most meals, eat out somewhere nice when you do go out.

I had a great time at our hotel, we were kind of in the middle which was great you could go to lauderdale by the sea and ... downtown all in one area. The resturant was excellent, also the bar was right on the beach, and what the hotel did on the weekends they were full service for food and drink, the beach was right at our door step, the hotel was fantastic would stay there again.

YG Aug 4, 2009
I got the 2 bedroom suite and I can tell you I have never seen a suite in worst shape. Bad paint job,the window blinds had ... holes on them. The balcony was super dirty it had a coffe stain that apparently had been there for years. The mirror plate on the wall was broken and had bunch of scoth tape i guess to keep it from falling apart. The doors besides the fact that they were dirty some of them wouldn't even lock the tv remote only work in the livingroom the other remotes for the bedrooms tv's were there only for deco. purposes only because they didn't work. the elevators were super small. I could keep going but there was way too many. But the one that cause me to get the angriest and almost arrested is that YOU CANNOT TAKE A COOLER, FOOD, DRINKS, OR BEACH CHAIRS TO THE BEACH OR POOL. I mean the pool k but to the beach. Last time I check beaches were public property. But you can always rent a chair for 15 dollars a pop by the way that same chair you rented would b collected from you at 5 pm wheter you like it or not. But is okay because you get a nice view of the guests on the hotel right next to yours and their coolers full of beer, wich I happen to like and also they can bring whatever they want to the beach or pool, did I also mention that they can rent those same chairs and keep them til 12 at night for half the price. In conclusion if you want to gift somebody or yourself the worst time of your life or theirs. stay at this hotel.

For a very reasonable rate we were upgraded to the Penthouse the view, the room all very 1st class. We had a full kitchen so ... our 6 children could have meals at anytime. A full restaurant on the beach by the pool had great food and reasonable prices. Everyone was very nice, helpful and concerned about our having every thing we needed. I could not have asked for more - this trip was the best for our 12 family members from the 10 month old to grandma and grandpa and everyone in between.

We went to the Mai Kai restaurant and Polynesian show. The kids were mesmerized by the hula and fire dancing and music the food was great! We did take public transportation for 1.25 adults and .60 for kids just up and down Galt Drive for shopping, Para Sailing and restaurants take Bus #11 -the schedule is at the airport and the bus stop is righ in front of the hotel. For a group our size we rented a limo one day so we could all ride together. It was less than a 12 passanger van and he took us anywhere we wanted to go even thru McDonalds! The kids felt like Rock Stars.
