Beautiful Hotel!

We stayed at the Lugano the day before we departed for a cruise at Port Everglades. What a nice find, the rooms were spacious, spotless and had a great view of the intercoastal waterway. Wish we had more time to spend there. Would definitely go back if ever in the Fort Lauderdale area again. Staff and Concerige most helpful. Only drawback was the breakfast service and selection could have been better.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Just a short walk around the corner is a great place for lunch right on the water called Shooters you can eat inside or out its all open. Food, price and service was all a good value. The concierge was most helpful with anything you may need from where to eat or arranging rides for where ever you may need to go.

Beautiful view

Got an upgrade because of our honeymoon. Add $25 to the price for parking. Friendly staff for the most part. Big room. Costs a lot, and would only do it again for special occasions

This hotel is almost brand new and the rooms are exceptional. The suite includes a living room, kitchen (no stove), and bedroom with attached bathroom, as well as a large balcony. The rooms were an excellent value for what we paid, and it would have been a home run if not for the staff. I hate to even say that the staff was bad, because most of them were not, and most of them were helpful. It was just the one or two that left a dirty taste in your mouth. The pool doesn't get sunlight until about 4pm, but its nice because your skin can relax from the attacks of the uv-laced Florida sun. The restaurant was great for breakfast though a bit pricey but it was worth it. And they will drive you just about anywhere with there escalades as long as it is within 3 miles, but they'll stretch it a bit. Overall a great experience, but again just beware of the gumpy staff.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Fort Lauderdale is full of overprice restaurants, my wife and I found ourselves enjoying a little hole in the wall more than any of the other pricey options. It is called Primatis and it is on A1A just before the strip if your coming from the hotel. They serve pizza and sandwiches and they were just fantastic for the affordable price.

Il Lugano is a beautiful hotel

PROS: Beautiful Views from our suite. As Clean as it gets. Exceptional Staff. Great Restaurant. CONS: 2 burner stove but No Pots & Pans in room. Pool never got any sun because it is to the side of the hotel. However the beach is only a couple of blocks away. Hated the fact we had to pay $20 a day to park. For Luxury Hotels like this one, parking should be included in the cost of the room/suite....

Surprising - in a good way

This is the first review I've written for any travel-related purchase but I felt compelled to do so for the Il Lugano hotel. I'm used to warm welcomes and can-do attitude - that, in my mind, should come standard. What I was impressed with was the attention to detail, the very clean rooms, it was really a simple nice break from it all. My only issues were: 1. There is really not much around here except an awesome small restaurant called Juliens - like your gramdma used to cook. 2. The pool area is clean and okay, but it's just a personal thing that I'd prefer adult only (goodness only knows what a few young children are doing in there). Also, the hotel restaurant is off the pool area so during cooking times, you can smell the food cooking which could be a plus for some.

Great Place to Stay

The hotel and service were both extraordinary. I could not find anything negative to say except that the "beach" pictures are actually lounge chairs in sand on the side of the Intercoastal Waterway. It is about a 1 mile drive to the beach. [...]

Too expensive for 1 night

We had difficulties finding this newly built hotel. The clerk helped us in a friendly way by cell phone to find it.The room was very comfortable, like a suite, with a large kitchenette, large bathroom, etc. But the location on the Intracoastal and close to the draw bridge with constant traffic all night, made it impossible to enjoy the balcony outside and we had to close the window during the night. We would not recommend this hotel to a friend.
