Great Hotel within 5 min walk of Beach
webgirlMN Sep 25, 2009
This hotel had an super friendly staff (way better than the other people of FL who were kinda rude!), and the room was ... awesome because it had a little kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker (with free coffee and teas), and mini fridge. There is a Target store about a mile or two north, so saved money by buying cereal, milk, and snacks. Plus the room had 2 TV's!! (had a little seating area, and also one in bedroom area). It wasn't right on the beach like I thought it was going to be, but a 5 min. walk to Ft. Lauderdale beach. Car parking was WAY more than I thought it was going to be, at $18/day (I thought that was pretty expensive)! The Water Taxi, which goes through the waterways to different stops and has some great sites you can only see by the waterway, had a stop right at this hotel, so you can catch the taxi right there (plus, the hotel had coupons for $2 off the Water Taxi fee!). But overall - very relaxing, with the hotel having it's own little sandy beach area right next to the waterway area, so very pretty at night.

A bit disappointing
Traveler Aug 26, 2009
We were assigned a suite with an atypical room plan, which in itself was not the problem. But during the night it became ... clear that the A/C only had one single outlet, which was not in the room with the bed. And at the same time, the thermostat made a loud clicking noise every time it engaged and disengaged, which occurred about every 5 minutes or so. As a result, sleep and a decent temperature were hard to come by. In the place's defense, they did end up comping the parking fee ($18 for self parking) as consolation.

I had a great experience at the hotel. I think the only down side is that parking for this hotel like most others in Miami ... and Ft. Lauderdale is expensive. Also, in today's age of technology, I've stay in more places that provide free internet access. Here you pay for that service too.

Ignore the quoted rates - add $50 if you want a decent room, park a car, and access the internet. The rooms are nice, but ... ours was noisy due to air conditioner and pipe sounds. TAKE THE WATER TAXI - handy, fun, inexpensive, and a good time.

Hotel is in a great location with views of the intercostal as well as the ocean...which is a short walk over the causway. We ... did have (2) false fire alarms in one week and one was at 1:30am. Our room was on the 11th floor and the fire department could not get the elevators working so we had to walk back up to or room....both times...other than that we were pleased with our hotel selection.

Very Good -- Price/Service/Location
Seasoned traveller Jun 29, 2009
Overall very good service, location, facility for a competitive price. Staff were friendly and very responsive. Hotel was ... approx. two blocks from the beach; one block from a lovely, peaceful park -- great for walking; biking; trails; roller-blading, etc., and across the street from a very nice mall with restaurants. I believe all rooms were suites with mini kitchens and clean. I would recommend for business, or travel with family. Exercise room was small but adequate. Free internet in lobby; would have preferred free Internet in room.

A wonderful weekend getaway
MiaM Jun 25, 2009
We chose this hotel for its big suites and great reviews. Four of us girls were having a weekend away and had plenty of room ... to all sleep comfortably in the double queen suite with a queen pull out. The room was clean and the balcony was great for morning coffee. We all were obsessed with the walk in shower and large bathroom, which was nice for four girls getting ready to go out! Service was friendly and prompt. The kitchen and dishes were very convenient and they ran the dishwasher each day. We spent a whole day at the pool because it was much more pleasant under the palm trees than the hot beach. The pool bar was convenient, although, a bit pricey. we ate one night outdoors at the restaurant and the food was delicious! The whole staff was accommodating, pleasant, and extremely helpful with questions. The walk to the Ft. Lauderdale beach, shops and local diners was only 10 min. A cab ride to Las Olas Blvd. was only about $12 and 15-20min. Overall it was a great experience and such a good price. I am very picky with the hotels I stay in and have very high expectations. This hotel definitely lived up to its website and reviews. I would recommend it to anyone.

If you walk to the beach there isn't much to eat as far as nice dining. We walked each morning to the the St. Barts coffee company on the A1A (right across from the beach next to the irish bar 845 N Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd) They have great, very fresh, sandwiches and wraps and great breakfast. For a quick dinner you must try Primanti Brothers. (on the corner across from the beach 901 Fort Lauderdale Blvd) Get it to go, though, because it gets really crowded in there!

Perfect Location!
Jenny Junior Jun 22, 2009
We had a family reunion at this hotel, so we had 6 rooms of people --- all ages. The rooms were clean and well laid out. ... Two room suites, nice kitchen and excellent showers! There is a coin laundry on the 3rd floor. The hotel is situated right on a canal and the water taxi stops at the hotel. This is very convenient for traveling to nearby restaurants. The water taxi has a family rate, so make sure to ask for it. Otherwise it is $13 a day for on and off privileges. In the evening it is $7. Our room had a view of the canal ---and of the ocean. The business center has three computers and actually has a magnificent view of the water. Free internet in the lobby. The restaurant is very good and has a nice children's menu. Try the crab soup. The pool overlooks the canal and it is very entertaining to see all of the boats traveling by. We opted to take an 11 dollar shared ride from the airport rather than rent a car and deal with the parking fees. Shared rides can be found right next to the Taxi stand, but beware because the Taxi stand manager will try to put you in one of his taxis before you can figure out that the shared ride is a better option if you have only have one or two people. You don't need a car at this hotel location. There are about 20 restaurants within 2 blocks of the hotel and an additional 30 restaurants along the water taxi route. Also, directly across the street is a CVS pharmacy, a Starbucks, a french cafe, and a high end mall with 150 shops. Have fun!
Traveler type: Family
Take the water taxi. Not only is it convenient transportation to restaurants, but it is entertaining to see all of the beautiful homes along the canal. Ask for a family rate. And, many of the restaurants will give you 10 to 20% discount if you show them your water taxi ticket. We especially enjoyed the restaurant 1 stop away from the hotel called "Shooters" (water taxi stop #1)
