Anniversary in Double Beds
Mom from Virginia Nov 23, 2009
[...] I spent a long time on the phone with [...] a manager from the hotel to make sure we were guaranteed a king size bed ... as opposed to two double beds..it was our anniversary. I was told if I spent $10 extra a night I could have the king size bed and I agreed to do this. [...] When we arrived to check in I found out that we had two double beds and that the hotel had no documentation of this very long discussion I had with their hotel manager [...]. In fact, they had no king size beds available for the entire weekend. It was about 7 pm on a Thursday night and there was no manager on duty and therefore nobody could help us. We ended up taking the double bed room since there was no other choice. It was extremely frustrating to have been guaranteed a king size bed on the phone and then not have that guarantee be honored. However, at my request, the lady checking us in did remove the daily parking fee of $5/day as compensation. The stay overall was nice and the room was nice considering the price, except for large centipedes that showed up in it the day we were leaving. The staff in the hotel, especially the bartender, were nice. The pool was very nice but I was surprised that the hotel was not actually on the beach. So if you plan to stay here, just make sure you triple check any special reservation requests.

My mother and I travel to Ft. Lauderdale every year and had stayed at this Best Western 2yrs ago. Last year we stayed ... somewhere else and regretted it. This Best Western is well located and easy to get in and out of. The garage is gated and we feel secure. The pool looked refreshing.

For 2 nites pre-cruise we enjoyed this great hotel & the beach. It was on the bus line to everything, and was within walking ... distance to good restaurants & shopping. The free breakfast was perfect. Our vacation started off great! It was as good as our vacation 18 months ago!

cheap, close to beach
mature traveler Oct 19, 2009
As intended I only spent one night there post cruise. Pros: Inexpensive and 1-2 block walk to beach. Small attractive pool ... area. Free internet connection. Average breakfast buffet. Microwave and frig in room. Cons: Abrupt change in weather and the heater didn't work in first room assigned and desk clerk was at first reluctant to switch rooms. Walls are thin I could hear coffee perking in next room. Other than breakfast only food available on site is in tiny bar area utilizing a microwave. I would rate this on the lower end of 3 star facility.

This B.W. Oceanside Inn is an awesome deal. It's in a great location. Walking distance from the beach, ... clubs, restaurants, shops and more. I loved the included breakfast buffet that had hot/cold breakfasts to choose from. You could even make your own waffles from scratch using 1 of 3 waffle makers. Most of all it's Free! Saves you money on your trip. The hotel also includes Free Wi-Fi connection, if you decide to bring your laptop computer! I used this every day I was there to find local events and activities to do while I was in town. The rooms were very clean! They have mini refrigerators and a TV in the room. Both were used everyday and very conveniant. The Only Complaint I have in general is the extremely small/tight parking spaces in there garage. I drive a big truck that does not turn on a dime. I literally had to do a 90-point turn to get out of the parking spot, without hitting another car or one of the support columns that flanked both sides of each(dual)parking spot. My suggestions would be to rent a small compact car, motorcycle or scooter. This would make the parking 100% easier.

The location is great. You don't have to cross the street to go to the beach, and it's only about 100 yards from the hotel. ... The rooms were average. Clean, refrigerator, coffee maker, and an above average breakfast each day.. Our room faced the busy A1A Highway. Stay on the other side if possible. The pool was small, but we went to the beach each day.For this location, this was the best value.

Overall , a comfortable stay. Hotel is older but had wireless internet and a computer for guests to use in the lobby. A small ... frig. ,microwave, coffee maker and safe were in the room. Outdoor swimmming pool on property outside the breakfast room. A nice tropical fish aquarium in the lobby. I disliked the parking situation which was tight and hard to pull in and out of the spaces, plus there was a daily fee for the parking added on to the bill.
