With miles of beach- and bay-front, dozens of neighborhoods dotted with stocked lakes and its own village with eateries, shops and clubs, the 2,400-acre Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is more like a mini city than an average resort. I always love coming here. But....this trip is the first time I ever had a problem checking in. The hotel could not find my reservation when I tried to check in about 3 hours after I made the reservation. The reservation department and they finally contacted me so I could check in. They did upgrade me for the trouble.

Family Weekend for beach and shopping
The Bayside Inn is under renovation but the price did not reflect this. The only way to access the beach turned out to be a tram which they said would take 45 minutes but in reality it took one and a half hours which was not the fault of the nice lady operating the tram but how many people and stops she had to make. Once there it was a long walk through huge hotels to even see the beach let alone reach it. I do not think this resort should have beach in their title...it's for golfers and conventions not families. In my brother's room the toilet did not work, one lady down our hall had no telephone in her room, check out was confusing and people met in the hallway to try to figure it out. I won't return to this complex when vacationing in Destin area.

Great getaway!
My husband and I went to celebrate an anniversary. It was wonderful! Had everything you needed at the resort, but close to everything else in Destin to go out too. It's a good balance of couple and family atmosphere. We stayed at the Luau 2 tower next to the beach. The room size was great and loved how we had a mini fridge and very small, but adequate kitchenette. The pool right outside was relaxing. Nice facilities overall. Will definitely come back!

Eat at the Village at Baytowne! Small drive across 98, but well worth it. Great selection, variety, and atmosphere!

Pilot House/BayTowne Dwaf
Robert, This is by far the worst experience that I have ever booked for my family vacation. The Pilot House needs to be knocked down and started over. The place is old and in need of many repairs to include the beds and matress. The TV' were also outdated and only worked in spurts. I will pass the word to everyone that travels to stay away from the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. I think that a motel 6 would have been better.

LOve this resort
Everyone is so friendly and I love the community feel. The Village of Baytowne Wharf is quaint and beautiful and there's no reason to leave the resort!

Definitely not a four start hotel
My expectation was a four start hotel with outstanding service. The service was pretty horrible. The front desk was a few miles from the actual hotel I stayed. The hotel I stayed had no front desk. They would not give me an ocean view even though the hotel was empty. They charged me an addtionla $8 that I do not know what for. I need to call them now to try to get this back. Would absolutely not recommend to anyone for the price.

Beautiful resort
This is a beautiful resort. Only complaint is that we were there two weeks prior to Christmas and it was a little slow, so the actual building (Bayside Inn) front desk was not staffed. Also they did not have the Kids Club and operation as they require at least three kids to be signed up, although they did offer a reference to a local babysitting service.
