10 Year anniversary

Would recommend Tue, Oct 16, 2012
It is very nice place . The staff was friendly and very helpful . I would stay there again. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a swimming pool. I love the beach but some times you just don't want to get sandy. Loved the location not over populated. Over all it was a wonderful trip! :)

Shopping hint

Good deals at Beals outlet it is in the same center as Beals.

Destin beach getaway for a couple!

Would recommend Wed, Sep 26, 2012
The hotel was a mini condo right on the beach. The location is perfect and the room was spotless. I commend them on their cleaning services. The only negatives are that the place needs some updating. Our unit had cabinets with a peeling layer of whatever material was used to cover them. The stove oven was tiny and the place filled with smoke when we tried to bake. It was decorated nicely. The bedroom was very pretty. I would have preferred a unit closer to the water with a better view. The staff was friendly and they offered free beach service which was a great "plus". It has the feel of a retro 50's era hotel. I'm not a fan of giant resorts. I go to Vegas for that. I go to Destin for their beautiful beach. Overall, we had a great time and would come back again!

Great! Will go back

Would recommend Mon, Jul 30, 2012
We stayed in one of the less nice rooms, which was really only due for some updating and minor repairs. The beach was right outside the door. Didn't know ahead of time we needed to take a few extra supplies, such as toliet paper, and garbage bags. But really no big deal. We will keep this place on our list, b/c it was small, meaning the crowds were smaller, beach front chairs were included, and it was nice to not being in the middle of the craziness. So that did mean food and shopping was a short drive away. But that was exactly what we wanted, PEACE! and we got it.

Dining

AJ's is over priced, good but expensive and a long wait (oh and who puts a beer in a plastic cup! it was hot before I was done drinking it). We went to Bubba Gumps the next night and the food was much more reasonable.

Not too bad

Would recommend Sat, Jul 21, 2012
The location is perfect for those who like staying out of beach traffic. You can pull up right to the condo which is nice for unloading and loading the car. No long crowded elevator rides or long walks from the parking lot. The staff was friendly. There is no pool or balcony, but it is still beach convenient. Our condo was spacious. No washer or dryer in condo. Our trouble was the last night. The air broke and we had to leave all our things and move to a townhouse down the road. We were not given an extended check out time. A maintenance man had came in earlier and change a filter and then the air broke afterwards. I understand things break, but did not like how they handled the situation.

Awful Experience

Would not recommend Wed, Jun 29, 2011
My family and I chose to stay here because of the entire ad's claim "The condo is just right for couples seeking a private and quiet retreat. It is ideal for small families too" and "This west end corner condo is directly on 300 ft. of private beach." (to find these exact phrases in their ad, visit, http://www.top-destin-rentals.com/capri-beach-homes-116-on-the-beach-condo.php. ) We also read the reviews and were excited to rent the unit because of the claims to its privacy and quietness. There is nothing private and quiet about this property. Every night we have stayed here, my children and I have been woke up by all the loud partying going on in the room next door to us. We have asked the partiers to keep the volume down, however they show no respect or courtesy to their neighbor even when children are involved. We called the sheriffs dept. twice so far since we have been here trying to keep the noise contained, but again another disappointment as the sheriff's dept. claims there is nothing they can do about the noise even though there is supposed to be noise ordinances enforced, particularly on PRIVATE property. Property management won't do anything because all they care about is the dollars they make on renting out the units, other than that, they could care less if you are having a less than pleasant stay and also do not enforce the noise complaints even though they advertise "great for families," "private and quiet retreat." The beach is supposed to be a private beach, however that also is not enforced and I have taken photos of the so-called "private beach." We haven't been able to enjoy the beach because there is no where to set up an umbrella for my family due to the over-crowded "private beach." There are a number of issues with unit #116 as well, the fan in the bathroom makes awful loud groaning sounds and doesn't work, the tv in the bedroom has to "warm up" before it will work properly and until then it displays a white horizontal line on the screen for about 5-10 minutes. I have had to clean everything before it could be used, the place was filthy and since they charge $300 just for a cleaning fee, I expected the place to be spotless. The deck has numerous trip hazards and is unlevel with several screws sticking out of the planks about 1/2 to 1 inch. I figured this out when I accidently stepped on one and it sunk into my foot requiring a tetanus shot. If you are considering staying here, please use caution and plan your stay carefully.

The Capri is great

Would recommend Mon, Jun 28, 2010
The Capri was great, it's a single story that looks old school but my place was super clean and modern. The place is gated and the beach is steps away. The private beach was not crowded and chairs and an umbrella are set up for you each day. Friendly staff and super quite. A++

Dining

The Crazy Lobster located at the Harborwalk is a great place to eat it is pricey but the seafood and staff are great. I highly recommend the steamed seafood bucket it's well worth the price. STAY AWAY!!!! from The Back Porch Resturant it's pricey and all my food tasted like it was heated up in the microwave, the beer was hot and service was poor.

WTH?

Would not recommend Fri, Jun 25, 2010
The pictures on the internet are nothing like the room we were given. The place reminded me of a 2 hour stay motel off of an interstate somewhere. I wouldn't walk on the carpet barefooted and I hated the idea of laying down on that bed. Even my daughter was sickened by the appearance. The guy at the desk even said the web photos were doctored! This place was a dump. We left after the first night and moved up the street. Don't waste your money.

Excellent location

Would recommend Sun, Apr 4, 2010
The location is perfect, almost on the dunes only some 50 - 100 yards from the water. Low style old hotel in an area with niece houses and mostly rather low buildnings. Very friendly and helpful staff. The condos are probably quite old but in good condition and with tasteful colors and interior. If you enjoy long walks on the beach and a quiet place this is the right place for you. The first morning we saw dolphins in the emerald crystal clear water

A definite JEWEL of a place to stay!

Would recommend Mon, Sep 28, 2009
Our cozy, spotless condo/suite had a fully (and I mean fully) stocked kitchen, and nice leather lazy boys, along with two other comfortable chairs, and a 52" plasma TV. The bed was moderately comfortable. There was even a desk setup with a leather executive chair and complementary high speed Internet service for your laptop. The bathroom was spotless and we always had plenty of hot water. The beach was only steps away, and what a beach it is!! Absolutely beautiful white sands, and the property furnishes (most of the year) free umbrellas and chairs for each unit. I can't think of one reasonable bad thing to say about the place. It was great. Also: there are two parking places reserved for each unit, which I thought was nice. It's centrally located too, convenient to Destin's many fine entertainment/shopping/dining opportunities.

Shopping hint

Check out the Silver Sands Outlet Mall while you're there if you have time. Most outlet malls promise big savings but don't really deliver. Not only does this one deliver on the savings, but it's a designer name only mall -- and has the distinction of being the largest of its kind in the country.
