Family getaway

The rooms are very dated. The couches are old and the carpets were dirty. Nice pool area, very clean. However you could only order alcholic drinks in a "speciality" cup. These drinks were unreasonable priced.

3rd year doesn't disappoint

We found this gem 3 years ago and haven't looked anywhere else. The accommodations are always clean and spacious. The location is just far enough away from the Disney crowd but close to everything. The pools are awesome and free DVDs are a nice surprise. Book it , you won't be disappointed.

not so great

when we got there they couldn't find reservation. finally did find it and told us we were not due to arrive until 2/4 even though I had confirmation showing the correct date. They would not honor the confirmation showing "charges due at hotel" They came up with a higher amount and told us to take it up with booking agent. They kept saying "it's not our problem, you booked with a 3rd party." Wanted to put us in regular room even tho we paid for deluxe room. Finally did get room. Bare supplies. 1/2 roll of toliet papaer, towels, etc. Room was ok but could use updating. old 19" tv. Horrible mattresses. Pool area was nice and well kept., With all the rentals avail in Orlando area don't think I would stay again. Rudeness of staff at check in really left a bad taste.

Great hidden treasure!

The resort was gorgeous, a lot to do with your little ones. The suites were very clean and even the rugs were shampoo. My family and I looking forward to staying again for a extended stay.

Leesburg Local

We were very pleased with the value for large space, and will bring more family back with us next time. The atmosphere is tropical and "Bahama-like".

There are free movies to check out in the lobby, but not a good selection, so next time I'll bring some from home to watch, as the resort is pretty quiet in the evening.

Would definitely stay again !!!

Got a great deal b/c its a slow week for Disney (12/15-12/19). The place was great. Wifi in the room wasnt very good but thats about the extent of our complaint. They even let us check in early b/c our room was available. Everything was clean, pool/hot tub was nice. About a 20 minute drive to Disney which was an easy drive. Lots of restaurants in the area as well.

Manny's chop house was about a 20 minute drive but one of the best steaks I've had. Very reasonably priced, tons of food and very casual atmosphere !

Great for the price but stupid staff!

The reason I gave this place a 3 and not a 5 is because the beds ARE HORRIBLE!!! My boyfriend and I were in davenport for a 3 mile "zombie" race so all we wanted to do afterwards was lay down but after 5 minutes I was in such pain and so stiff we had to go lay on the couch. Ill only stay there again if they fix the beds bc i just couldnt sleep. Another problem was the maintenance and staff. At 8am they tried coming into our suite only knocking once while we were still asleep to change the door battery!!! Really!?! I was stark naked so my bf told them to get out & come back when we checked out. They proceeded to knock on the door 30 minutes later. We got a late check out for 12pm and at 10 we had ppl again knocking on our door telling us were going to be charged a penalty if we aren't out In 5! CHECK YOUR FACTS!!!! It's just very annoying and frustrating when you're tired and trying to pack and your constantly being harassed by employees bc they don't check anything. Other than those 3 extremely annoying things, the room was nice and clean, good amount of towels. It was nice that they provide you with cups plates an utensils in the suite.

Everything decent in on US27 be prepared its all junk food like chilis and Applebee's. I'm gluten and dairy intolerant so it was a little difficult but there was a decent sushi place called Kumo. Not the best for raw platters but good appetizers and rolls.

Ok

The front evening staff could not find my hopper passes. Went in the next morning & another girl couldn't find them either, however, a 3rd girl overheard & knew exactly where they were. Hmmm... shouldn't they all know how to use the computer to check reservations for tickets???? The room was decent until a cockroach showed up on my bananas. I almost had a heart attack. Needless to say, we had to put all our food in the fridge for the rest of our stay. The pool was ok except for the gigantic water bug that was taking a dip. The surroundings were decent & we went for a walk by the lake & saw a gator. The location of this place is well off the beaten path & hard to find. Restaurant food sucked there.

Always take the extra rental car coverage or make sure you don't have to pay penalties if you don't. Also, plan to spend 1 whole day at each Disney Park. Don't try to fit in 2 per day. Not enough time.

Home away from home

I was planning to stay at a WDW resort since I was taking my mum and a friend on their first trip to Universal and WDW. After I booked my air and rental car an offer appeared for the Bahama Bay resort. The offer was too good to pass up and we each saved at least $1000 by staying off WDW property. I was very apprehensive and thought it might sound too good to be true. I am pleased to say I'm glad we made the decision to stay at the Bahama Bay resort. It is like a home away from home. We stayed 10 days and each of us paid $300, including a cleaning deposit of $139.00. The staff was pleasant and upgraded us to a lake view when we asked for one. We had an issue with the dryer but they quickly sent someone out to repair. The rooms were not state of the art but they were clean and very comfortable. What made it like home is the kitchen, the living and dining rooms, the washer and dryer, 3 bedrooms( no pillow top mattresses) and 2 bathrooms. There is no daily cleaning, which is why there is a $139 cleaning deposit to get the room ready for the next person. They get you set up with initial supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, dish washing soap, but it is your responsibility to do the dishes and wash towels and buy extra toilet paper/paper towels if you need it. A Super Target and Publix supermarket are between the Bahama Bay and WDW property. We used Super Target several times to get milk, muffins and fruit to start the day before heading to the theme parks. Utensils, dishes and pots/pans are provided and were clean and in good condition. The resort is located south of WDW property and took us anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes based on traffic to get to the first exit of WDW property. Depending on what theme park we went to it could take 30 minutes to get there from our hotel due to the size of the WDW property. It took us around 35 minutes to get to Universal Studios Orlando from the Bahama Bay Resort. The resort is not too far off WDW property and it provided a peaceful and relaxing retreat from the crowds at the theme parks. I would definetly stay at the Bahama Bay Resort in the future.

If you are visiting Walt Disney World it is good to be familiar with the layout of the property. In one word it is HUGE! If you are driving and you have made dinner or tour reservations, give yourself extra time to navigate to your destination.
